Armada Nutrition Announces Name Change to Prinova Nagase Group to Enhance Global Brand Alignment

Armada Nutrition, a leading contract manufacturer of high-quality nutritional powders, announced today that it will change its name to Prinova Nagase Group on Jan. 1, 2024, to align with the name of its parent company. The name change will incorporate contract manufacturing of nutritional powders added to the capabilities marketed under the Prinova brand globally, alongside ingredient distribution, premix manufacturing, and flavor manufacturing. The company’s leadership and ownership will remain unchanged.

“We are excited to finally be tying the entire story together under the Prinova brand,” says Josh Lanagan, President of Prinova’s Value Added Divisions. “Our existing customers know the value of partnering with a contract manufacturer that’s also a global leader in ingredient distribution. This name change allows us to market that vertically integrated model more effectively, which is unique to the industry.”

The name change will impact all three of Armada’s manufacturing sites, encompassing over 850,000 square feet of contract manufacturing space, in Spring Hill, TN, Salt Lake City, UT, and Aylesford, UK.

With this shift, Prinova hopes to push the envelope in terms of what powder ready-to-mix brands expect from their contract manufacturer. “It’s the market intelligence on ingredients that really sets us apart for many customers,” expressed Dan Force, VP of Marketing and Innovation for Prinova. “That, coupled with the services Prinova offers across multiple end-use-market forms.”

Prinova has helped launch leading powder nutritional brands into the carbonated beverage space, by providing a unique combination of product development, premix manufacturing, and flavor manufacturing. This model empowers customers to have complete control of their raw materials and positions them for lean and efficient toll manufacturing, which is crucial for competing in this space.

With the forthcoming brand alignment and recent infostructure investment, Prinova is more than ever poised to expand its contract manufacturing. The 400,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City had its grand opening in November of last year, and Prinova recently expanded its European footprint with a sizable investment into its Aylesford, UK facility. Additional capacity expansion into stick-pack manufacturing for the US is also slated for early 2024.

The company's deep formulation expertise, end-to-end services, and proactive flavor innovation help customers continuously be first to market with custom nutritional products that fulfill consumers' tireless search for better. In 2019, both Armada and Prinova were purchased by Nagase Group.

Swedish Innovation Introduces Magnetic Kit with Box Locks, Ending the Horizontal vs. Vertical Game Storage Dilemma

WALLZAP | Wall Mounting Kit & Box Locks

Organize, Display, Re-organize & Play!

In the vast realm of board games, a longstanding debate persisted: should games be stored horizontally or vertically? WALLZAP, the brainchild of Swedish innovation, is here to render that debate obsolete. Launched on October 17, WALLZAP brings an unparalleled solution to display and store board games.

Both methods have their pros and cons. Horizontal storage often results in box damage for games stacked at the bottom, while vertical storage may lead to lid drift and jumbled components. With WALLZAP's box locks, part of the wall mounting kit, this debate is settled. The product ensures games can be stored vertically without lid drift or transported horizontally without worrying about internal disarray. Essentially, WALLZAP grants board game enthusiasts the freedom of choice without compromise.

Key features of WALLZAP's Magnetic Kit:

  • Freedom of Storage: End lid drift with never-seen-before Box Locks, offering versatility in storage.
  • Transformative Display: WALLZAP does more than just store; it transforms game boxes into visual masterpieces, enriching your living spaces.
  • First of its Kind: WALLZAP is the world's first company to create a Magnetic Wall-Mounting Kit capable of holding games up to 7.3 lbs.

CEO & Co-Founder John-Aron Windolf states, "We've always believed in merging design with functionality. The WALLZAP magnetic kit exemplifies this, settling the age-old storage debate and transforming game boxes into art."

Creative Director & Co-Founder Philip MacInnes adds, "Our vision is for board game enthusiasts to showcase their collection without compromise, and we're excited to see the community's embrace."

In this era of flourishing board game culture, coupled with the challenges of limited space, the demand for inventive storage and display solutions is on the rise. Stepping up to the challenge, WALLZAP offers a solution that doesn't just meet, but exceeds, the expectations in terms of design, utility, and aesthetic value.

The worldwide board game surge, magnified during the COVID era, resulted in the global tabletop game market being valued at approximately 2.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2021. According to Statista, this market could see an increase of over 60 percent in the forthcoming decade. Kickstarter statistics further accentuate this trend, with board games being a dominant category.

About WALLZAP: Rooted in Sweden's legacy of innovation, WALLZAP AB is a testament to a commitment— a commitment to revolutionizing the board game community's storage and display journey. Jean-Claude Van Damme says Steven Seagal once passed on a $20M payday to fight him

Jean-Claude Van Damme says Steven Seagal once passed on a M payday to fight him

Action icon Jean-Claude Van Damme says Steven Seagal once refused to fight him in Las Vagas with $20M on the line.

Welcome to the jungle, folks! While some action stars like Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger delight in supporting one another along their respective journies throughout life and the entertainment industry, some discover there’s nowhere to run regarding the judgment of their peers. Unlike Sly and Arnie, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal have a long-running feud. Arguments can support that either star is the perfect weapon, but only one turned down $20M to fight the other, Van Damme says.

Speaking with The Telegraph, Van Damme told the outlet that film producer and executive Peter Guber once wanted to promote a fight between Van Damme and Seagal with a $20M payday.

“They were having an idea to have a fight between me and Steven at The Mirage [in Las Vegas],” Van Damme told the U.K.-based publication. “Twenty million each. He didn’t take the fight.”

How did the flight of fury begin between Van Damme and Seagal? According to reports, Seagal said in the 1990s, he “doubted Van Damme’s legitimate fighting credentials.” The two haven’t seen eye-to-eye since, leading to several rumors and tall tales throughout their careers. Van Damme says he doesn’t understand why Seagal doesn’t think much of him. Still, he’s never pressed the matter, unsure what it would yield.

Continuing to talk about Seagal, Van Damme paid the martial arts actor a few compliments, saying, “The first movie I saw of his, I said, ‘This guy’s going to make it, he’s very charismatic.’” he said of Seagal’s cinematic presence. “Even now, with his overweight years, he’s got this Steven Seagal way of talking.”

How does Van Damme think a fight with Seagal would play out? The Bloodsport and Cyborg actor painted a picture for The Independent, saying, “If him and I fight, I run faster than him – much faster,” he told the outlet. “I would run away. He’s going to try to catch me, he’s going to get out of shape. I come back and fight. Do you like the technique?”

Who would win in a fight between Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal? Place your bets in the comments section below!

Halloween III: Dr. Challis figure is now available for purchase through the NECA website

Halloween III: Dr. Challis figure is now available for purchase through the NECA website

NECA’s figure based on Tom Atkins’ character Dr. Challis from Halloween III: Season of the Witch is now available for online purchase

A couple months ago, we heard that NECA had created a figure of Tom Atkins’ character Dr. Challis from Halloween III: Season of the Witch (watch it HERE) that would only be available for purchased by fans attending the Halloween: 45 Years of Terror convention. That convention has since come and gone – and now NECA has put the Challis figure up for sale on their website! The figure comes with a Silver Shamrock coaster signed by Atkins himself and can be purchased at THIS LINK. It’s going for the price of $75.

Written and directed by Tommy Lee Wallace (Nigel Kneale wrote the first draft of the script, but wanted his name left out of the credits), Halloween III: Season of the Witch has the following synopsis: Hospital emergency room Dr. Daniel “Dan” Challis and Ellie Grimbridge, the daughter of a murder victim, uncover a terrible plot by small-town mask maker Conal Cochran, a madman who’s planning a Halloween mass murder utilizing an ancient Celtic ritual. The ritual involves a boulder stolen from Stonehenge, the use of Silver Shamrock masks and a triggering device contained in a television commercial — all designed to kill millions of children.

Atkins is joined in the cast by Stacey Nelkin and Dan O’Herlihy.

Here’s the information on NECA’s Challis figure: From Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, the classic 1982 horror movie, NECA brings Dr. Challis to action figure form. Featuring the authorized likeness of Tom Atkins, this clothed action figure stands 8 inches tall and is fully articulated. It includes two beverage accessories and comes in window box packaging.

The figure and signed coaster bundle is exclusive to the NECA Store – so if you want to add this figure to your collection, head over there and make the purchase!

The head on the Dr. Challis figure was actually sculpted for NECA’s long-sold-out figure of Atkins’ Night of the Creeps character Detective Ray Cameron. So you have Ray Cameron’s head on the body of Dan Challis. An image of the figure can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Are you a fan of Halloween III: Season of the Witch, and will you be buying a Challis figure? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Rivers are Life Premieres ‘Toxic Art’ Showcasing the Power of Collaboration & Creativity in Environmental Protection

Rivers are Life Premieres ‘Toxic Art’ Showcasing the Power of Collaboration & Creativity in Environmental Protection

Today, in honor of World Sustainability Day, Rivers are Life unveils their latest film highlighting Appalachian Ohio’s Sunday Creek and environmental efforts made by local River Heroes John Sabraw, Guy Reifler, and Michelle Shively MacIver. Located in Southeastern Ohio, the 27-mile-long creek is severely polluted by acid mine drainage (a product of the area’s several abandoned coal mines). The film, “Toxic Art,” focuses on the collaborative effort using art and innovative technology to revitalize streams devastated by historic coal mining.

John Sabraw is an artist, environmentalist, activist, and Professor of Art at Ohio University. When he first moved to Ohio, he was able to learn about the local environment through his environmentalist colleagues. On a trip to a local stream, John was shocked to find that these waterways were orange and full of sludge as a result of acid mine drainage and the pollutant iron oxide.

Sabraw learned that more than 6,650 stream miles in Central Appalachia run orange due to the impact of acid mine drainage. The Truetown Discharge, located in the Sunday Creek watershed, is the largest single acid mine drainage discharge in the state of Ohio with a flow rate of 988 gallons per minute. This amounts to approximately 2,183,065 pounds of iron oxide dumping into Sunday Creek each year, decimating aquatic habitat for seven miles.

After seeing the severity of this pollution firsthand, Sabraw took home a jar of sludge from the creek and, using his knowledge of iron oxides from his experience as an artist, began experimenting with turning this sludge into a pigment. He eventually joined forces with Ohio University Professor and Chair of Civil Engineering, Guy Riefler, and after years of experimentation, the pair succeeded in creating a pigment that was both environmentally and economically sustainable.

The duo later collaborated with nonprofit regional community development organization Rural Action, as well as state and federal agencies, to create True Pigments. True Pigments is a social enterprise committed to creating socio-economic opportunities for the local community while cleaning and restoring Sunday Creek, allowing life to return to the heavily-polluted seven miles of stream.

“When we put people together from different disciplines and different backgrounds, that is when this magic happens,” John said. “Humans have exponential potential to solve these crises and to take stewardship over a future that is going to be sustainable and joyous. I believe more than ever that that’s possible, and that’s what we have to do.”

In June 2023, Rural Action, Ohio University, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the U.S. Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement broke ground on the new True Pigments Acid Mine Drainage Treatment & Pigment Production Facility. Once this plant goes live, 100% of coal mine pollution will be intercepted before it reaches waterways.

The full “Toxic Art” film, along with limited edition prints from Sabraw, are available on Rivers are Life’s platform HERE.

Two Brothers Launch Verta by Looking to Nature for Solutions to City Pollution and Creating a Miniature Ecosystem for Healthier Living

The inspiring journey of two brothers, Bill and Bassel Jouni, unfolds as they seek inspiration from nature to make urban living greener and healthier through their innovative startup, Verta.

In the heart of bustling cities, where life's rhythm never seems to slow down, two visionary brothers, Bill and Bassel Jouni, found inspiration and a profound purpose. Based in Delaware, they embarked on an extraordinary mission to transform urban living into a healthier, greener, and more sustainable experience through their innovative startup, Verta.

This is a story that delves deep into the personal, the transformative, and the inspiring. It begins with a profound and life-altering challenge: their father's battle with cancer. Their father's line of work as an interior designer introduced him to a world saturated with Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), the very compounds that would later be associated with his multiple myeloma. It was in the face of this adversity that the brothers found the motivation to seek a solution.

Their mission? To combat the pervasive menace of VOCs, infamous for their connection to urban pollution and their potential to degrade indoor air quality. These invisible and odorless toxins, emanating from everyday items like furniture, carpets, cleaning products, and scented candles, insidiously infiltrate our homes, quietly affecting the air we breathe and, subsequently, our overall health.

In their quest for a solution, the brothers looked to nature for inspiration. Their brainchild, Verta, emerged not as a mere air purifier, but as a harmonious fusion of design and function, echoing the wisdom of the natural world.

When excess humidity lingers in the air, Verta's system gracefully intervenes, efficiently extracting this excess moisture, storing it in a water reservoir, and reducing stuffiness, mirroring the balance that nature maintains in our environment.

Verta also pays homage to nature's wisdom by incorporating the power of plants and bamboo-activated charcoal. This design choice mirrors the critical role trees and plants play in reducing VOCs through their intricate root systems, bringing the essence of the natural world into our urban lives.

The brothers refrained from using disposable plastic filters in their product design, recognizing their significant role in exacerbating the global plastic crisis. Annually, more than 100 million plastic filters end up in landfills, further contributing to environmental issues. In contrast, Verta embraces an eco-conscious approach, utilizing washable PM 2.5 filters that help combat smaller pollutants while championing the reduction of unnecessary waste.

This commitment to nature doesn't stop at the product level. A portion of Verta's profits is directed towards supporting RootsUpSolutions, an NGO arm with a laser focus on projects that aid climate-affected rural communities. Initiatives include the creation of dew collectors and water wells, providing tangible, positive change in communities at the frontline of climate challenges.
