Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting are aiming to get Wolf Creek: Legacy into theatres in the fall of 2026. Mick Taylor is back!

Three and a half years ago, it was announced that Wolf Creek 3 was moving forward, with Rachele Wiggins making her feature directorial debut on the film and John Jarratt, who played Australian serial killer Mick Taylor in the films Wolf Creek (watch it HERE) and Wolf Creek 2 (watch that one HERE) as well as two seasons of a Wolf Creek television series (you can see season 1 at THIS LINK and season 2 at THIS ONE) on board to reprise the role. Unfortunately, something has been holding the project back from starting production… but a while back, it was announced that Wolf Creek 3, now going by the title Wolf Creek: Legacy, is set to start filming in Australia this year, with Wiggins having been replaced at the helm by Sean Lahiff, who was editor on Wolf Creek 2. Now, entertainment studio Cineverse and their horror division Bloody Disgusting have revealed that they have acquired the distribution rights to the film and intend to give it a theatrical release in the fall of 2026.

Franchise creator Greg McLean is producing the new sequel with Bianca Martino for Emu Creek Pictures and previously provided the following statement: “I’ve always believed in the power of fresh perspectives, and that’s why I’m thrilled to introduce Sean Lahiff as the director of Wolf Creek: Legacy. Sean isn’t just stepping into this world; he’s been a part of it for years. This new chapter in the Wolf Creek saga is something I’m incredibly excited about: it’s a bold new story that honors the roots of the franchise while pushing it into new, uncharted territory.“ McLean also mentioned that this sequel has “a fantastic and genuinely frightening script.“

Lahiff added, “I aim to deliver the horror and suspense that fans of the Wolf Creek franchise and wider genre theatre goers expect but to add a new depth to the story. We’re exploring the psychological terror of being hunted, the fear and resilience of these young characters, and the nightmarish quality of the Outback itself. This is a story that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats, but it will also tap into something deeper – the primal fears that dark fairytales have always played on.“ He said this is “a new chapter in the Wolf Creek saga and Mick Taylor’s iconic path of destruction. It will be a raw and gritty chase across the outback, and I can’t wait to unleash this bold and terrifying cinematic experience on longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise.“

Wolf Creek: Legacy is also being produced by Jeremy Bolt and Kristian Moliere, with Adrian Speckert and Cory Todd Hughes serving as executive producers.

When this project was first announced, it was said that Duncan Samarasinghe had written the screenplay, telling the story of an American family that takes a dream trip to the Australian outback and soon draws the attention of notorious serial killer Mick Taylor. A hellish nightmare ensues as the couple’s two children escape only to be hunted by Australia’s most infamous killer. It sounds like that story is still in place, as a press release reveals that Wolf Creek: Legacy will show us what happens when a family of American tourists who wander innocently into Mick Taylor’s (Jarratt) hunting grounds. When the parents sacrifice themselves to save their children, the kids find themselves alone, lost and hunted in the vast Australian wilderness.

Jay Ryan (It: Chapter Two) and Laura Gordon (Late Night with the Devil) are joining Jarratt in the cast.

Filmmaker Gavin O’Connor says he has ideas for The Accountant 3 and would love to turn the franchise into a trilogy.

Hype for the Ben Affleck-led sequel, The Accountant 2, is heating up, and director Gavin O’Connor is already talking about The Accountant 3. O’Connor doesn’t want to get too ahead of himself, but he’s got a “go big or go home” attitude about the criminally underrated action franchise. Speaking with Vanity Fair, O’Connor said he’s always wanted The Accountant to become a trilogy and has some ideas to make that happen.

“I have a lot of thoughts about what to do with the third. I’ve been thinking about it for a lot of years,” O’Connor told Vanity Fair. Mind you, he would not proceed with The Accountant 3 without Ben Affleck, who is focusing on the launch of The Accountant 2.

“I’m keenly aware of the fact that you kind of have to earn another movie,” Affleck explained. “The worst pitfall is to store a bunch of your good ideas for the next installment. If you don’t create an interest demand the first time out there, you’re just going to be playing that to an empty house.”

Amazon MGM Studios debuted a gallery of first-look images for The Accountant 2 yesterday. The film features Ben Affleck reprising his role as mathematics savant Christian Wolff, his brother Brax, played by Jon Bernthal, and other players like Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, and J.K. Simmons.

“Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. Scarlett Johansson is leading the charge to try to get the government to pass laws over protection from AI and deepfake videos.

Any sane person would be actively against Kanye West at this point. And it seems like a lot of celebrities are on board with openly bashing the rapper and self-proclaimed Nazi. But that’s just it: it seems like they are, at least to untrained eyes. In a new video that has gone viral, the creator has used deepfake technology to make it seem like a slew of celebrities got together to protest Kanye’s most recent anti-semitic tirade: there’s Jerry Seinfeld, Steven Spielberg, Natalie Portman, and others with Jewish heritage all donning a white t-shirt with a middle finger, a Star of David and the name “KANYE” underneath (a response to Kanye’s own swastika shirt). Now, one of the supposed participants, Scarlett Johansson, is blasting the use of AI in such a manner, citing its implications and harm it will inevitably bring.

Responding to the AI video, Scarlett Johansson said, “It has been brought to my attention by family members and friends, that an A.I.-generated video featuring my likeness, in response to an antisemitic view, has been circulating online and gaining traction. I am a Jewish woman who has no tolerance for antisemitism or hate speech of any kind. But I also firmly believe that the potential for hate speech multiplied by A.I. is a far greater threat than any one person who takes accountability for it. We must call out the misuse of A.I., no matter its messaging, or we risk losing a hold on reality.”

Scarlett Johansson has been one of the most vocal celebrities against this use of AI, especially since she has been a too-frequent victim of it and its psychotic cousin, deepfake. She continued her statement by asking that the United States government get more involved in the fight against AI’s harmful uses, adding that the country is falling behind drastically. “There is a 1000-foot wave coming regarding A.I. that several progressive countries, not including the United States, have responded to in a responsible manner. It is terrifying that the U.S. government is paralyzed when it comes to passing legislation that protects all of its citizens against the imminent dangers of A.I…I urge the U.S. government to make the passing of legislation limiting A.I. use a top priority; it is a bipartisan issue that enormously affects the immediate future of humanity at large.”

We can – and should – praise Scarlett Johansson for being so passionate about passing laws regarding AI. But we can’t help but notice that there are too few celebrities who are being outspoken on the topic. Many prominent voices have shown their disdain or skepticism over deepfake technology, like Keanu Reeves and Tom Hanks, but it’s going to take a lot more than just that to stop videos such as this – and worse.

So, truly, good on ScarJo for giving a true voice to the cause, but Hollywood really does need to come together and fight the issue. With artificial intelligence moving at such a rapid rate, it could very well soon get to the point where it’s genuinely hard to separate reality from AI. And let’s face it: we may know videos like this are phony, but think about how many people were fooled.

The comedy horror film The Parenting, starring Brian Cox, Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, Parker Posey, & more, is coming to Max

The Max streaming service has just announced that they will be releasing the comedy horror film The Parenting on Thursday, March 13th – and while doing so, they unveiled the promotional art that can be seen at the top and bottom of this article. Featured in this artwork is the impressive cast that was assembled for the film, including Nik Dodani (Twisters), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Brian Cox (Succession), Edie Falco (The Sopranos), Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), and Vivian Bang (Swedish Dicks).

The Parenting has the following synopsis: A hilariously terrifying comedy, The Parenting follows young couple Rohan and Josh as they plan a perfect weekend getaway in the country to introduce their parents. As tensions begin to flare between the more traditional Sharon and Frank and the laid-back Liddy and Cliff, the families soon realize that their rental – managed by eccentric local Brenda – is haunted by the presence of a 400-year-old poltergeist. When one parent becomes thoroughly possessed, it’s up to the young couple and their meddlesome BFF Sara to unite the families and stop the evil entity once and for all.

Dodani and Flynn take on the roles of Rohan and Josh, with Cox and Falco as Frank and Sharon, Kudrow and Norris as Liddy and Cliff, Posey as the eccentric Brenda, and Bang as meddlesome BFF Sara.

The Parenting was directed by Craig Johnson, whose previous credits include True Adolescents and The Skeleton Twins, from a screenplay written by Kent Sublette, who has many years of Saturday Night Live writing credits to his name and also co-wrote the 2011 dark comedy Lucky.

The film was produced by Chris Bender and Jake Weiner, with Richard Brener, Chris Pan, David Neustadter, and Jared Ian Goldman serving as executive producers. Filming took place back in 2022; the movie has been sitting on a shelf for a while due to the Warner Bros. Discovery shake-up that happened right after The Parenting went into production.

Netflix is developing a series adaptation of the Ira Levin novel The Boys from Brazil with Peter Morgan writing and Jeremy Strong set to star

Back in 1976, Rosemary’s Baby and The Stepford Wives author Ira Levin brought the world a conspiracy novel called The Boys from Brazil – and since Levin’s works had previously proven to be the makings of successful film adaptations, it’s no surprise that The Boys from Brazil was quickly turned into a movie. Released in 1978, that feature adaptation of the novel was directed by Franklin J. Schaffner from a screenplay by Heywood Gould and starred Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier (who received an Oscar nomination for his performance), Steve Guttenberg, and James Mason. That film isn’t quite as popular as Rosemary’s Baby or The Stepford Wives, but it has a strong following – and now Deadline reports that the Netflix streaming service is set to build on that following with a series adaptation of Levin’s novel.

This new take on The Boys from Brazil is being written by Peter Morgan, who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Suzanne Mackie of Orchid Pictures, and is set to star Jeremy Strong of Succession, who is currently in the running for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in The Apprentice.

Morgan’s previous credits include the Oscar-nominated screenplays for The Queen and Frost/Nixon. He also created and served as showrunner on the Netflix series The Crown.

The Boys from Brazil will see Strong taking on the role of Lieberman, a famous Nazi hunter who is drawn to investigate a conspiracy spun to him by a young Nazi hunter (played by Steve Guttenberg in the original film). Lieberman is highly skeptical of the young man’s claims that notorious Dr. Josef Mengele is in Paraguay, starting on a diabolical plan to reestablish the Third Reich through a cloning plan put in place after Germany lost World War II. When the young Nazi hunter is killed, Lieberman heads to Paraguay to uncover a truth that turns out to be horrific. Peck played Mengele in the film, and Lieberman is the role Olivier earned his Oscar nomination for.

Anyone But You director Will Gluck is partnering with in-demand Black List writer Travis Braun for the sex comedy One Night Only.

Will Gluck, the director of the Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell comedy Anyone But You, is spicing up cinemas with his next project, One Night Only. Universal Pictures snagged the rights to Gluck’s latest comedy, which boasts a Black List script from Travis Braun (Criminal Minds, Vampirina, Bad Boy). In addition to directing One Night Only, Gluck will produce through his Olive Bridge Entertainment studio alongside Olive Bridge vice president Jacqueline Monetta.

After reading the synopsis, One Night Only reminds me of The Purge, but for sexy times. Let me explain. In One Night Only, “two strangers, a man, and a woman, scramble to find someone to sleep with on the one night of the year when premarital sex is legal in their society.” Don’t make a “We live in a society joke,” Steve. You’ll never forgive yourself.

Phew. Okay, One Night Only is a curious screenplay from Travis Braun, whose credits include creating two shows for Disney Junior, T.O.T.S. and Pupstruction. He also wrote Disney’s latest animated take on Muppet Babies and Turbo Fast for Dreamworks Animation. Pupstruction gives Bob the Builder vibes with a story revolving around Phinny, an innovative young corgi, who might be the smallest pup on the crew, but he proves that you don’t need big paws to have big dreams or big ideas. Meanwhile, T.O.T.S. focuses on Pip the penguin and Freddy the flamingo, who become the first non-stork employees for T.O.T.S. (TIny Ones Transport Service), who deliver babies to their parents.

Gluck’s last film, Anyone But You, banked $220M worldwide. Critics often credit the laugh-out-loud enemies-to-lovers comedy with reviving the romantic comedy genre and giving Sweeney the silver-screen boost she needed to become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses. Regardless of what you think about Anyone But You, it helped Sweeney recover from the stink of Sony’s Madame Web.

Ridley Scott adds Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, and Guy Pearce to The Dog Stars, his upcoming pandemic thriller starring Jacob Elordi.

Ridley Scott’s pandemic thriller, The Dog Stars, adds some significant star power today with Margaret Qualley (The Substance, Kinds of Kindness, Drive-Away Dolls), Josh Brolin (The Goonies, Dune: Part Two, No Country for Old Men), and Guy Pearce (Memento, The Brutalist, Iron Man 3) joining Jacob Elordi (Saltburn, Wuthering Heights, Euphoria) for an epic that finds a civilian pilot living a lonely life on an abandoned Colorado airbase with his dog and a hard-as-nails ex-marine. When a band of scavengers called The Reapers invades their space, Hig and his compatriots must prepare for battle.

The Dog Stars hails from 20th Century Studios and is based on the 2012 novel by Peter Heller (Burn, The River, The Painter, The Last Ranger). Initially, Scott was reteaming with Gladiator II star Paul Mescal for The Dog Stars, but scheduling conflicts with his part in Sam Mendes’ Beatles anthology kept him from participating. Sources say Mescal plays Paul McCartney in Mendes’ upcoming film, making him essential to the project.

Here’s a synopsis of Heller’s novel:

“Hig’s wife is gone, his friends are dead, and he lives in the hangar of a small abandoned airport with his dog, Jasper, and a mercurial, gun-toting misanthrope named Bangley. But when a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside him that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past his point of no return and follows its static-broken trail, only to find something that is both better and worse than anything he could ever hope for.”

Mark L. Smith, who wrote The Revenant and the Netflix mini-series American Primeval, is partnering with Christopher Wilkinson (Ali, Nixon, Birth of the Dragon) to pen the screenplay. Ridley Scott will likely hunker down on The Dog Stars after completing work on You Should Be Dancing, a biopic focusing on one of the best-selling groups of all time, The Bee Gees.

Scott is assembling quite the cast for The Dog Stars. Margaret Qualley turned heads in recent months while starring opposite Demi Moore in Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance. At the same time, Josh Brolin continues to sharpen his skills for the next chapter of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise, Wake Up Dead Man. Guy Pearce stars in the potential Oscar contender The Brutalist, with a starring role alongside Hannah Waddingham, Keira Knightley, Kaya Scodelario, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Simon Stone’s The Woman in Cabin 10.

Sosie Bacon is set to star in the comedy horror film Brett, where her character has to deal with a jealous doll

Sosie Bacon has had to deal with the Smile curse. She crossed paths with the Lakewood Slasher in Scream: The TV Series. She even played one of the Manson girls in Charlie Says. So she has plenty of genre experience – and now, Deadline reports that she has just signed on to star in another horror project, this one with a comedic edge. Bacon is set to star opposite a jealous doll in the comedy horror film Brett.

Terrifier 3 sales firm The Coven is presenting Brett to potential buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin this week.

Shane Mack, whose cop comedy script Coffee & Kareem was featured on the Black List and ended up being turned into the 2020 film of the same name, has written the screenplay for Brett and will be making his feature directorial debut with the film. The story he has crafted for this one centers on Abby (Bacon), who returns home with her new fiancé and stumbles upon her cherished childhood ‘Brett’ doll. The doll suddenly awakens and professes his undying love for Abby and intends to prove that he can get all the…parts…of a real boy and win Abby back from her fiancé.

Louise Runge is producing the film, which Priscilla Ross Smith of The Coven described as “a little bit Ted, a little bit M3GAN… an instant Saturday night must-see.” The Coven’s Kendall Anlian added, “We’re thrilled to bring this deliciously scandalous film to our buyers. Sosie has shown she has the chops to start a franchise, and we’re ready to do it again.“

This isn’t the only horror comedy that Bacon is working on, as it was recently announced that she’ll be sharing the screen with her brother Travis and their parents, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, in a horror comedy called Family Movie, which Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are also directing from a screenplay by Dan Beers. That film will follow an eclectic but tight-knit family of filmmakers who suddenly find themselves in a real-life horror movie when a body turns up on the set of their latest low-budget slasher. As the production spirals comically out of control, they realize the only solution to keep filming is to cover up the murder, by any means necessary.

HBO may have found its Professor Albus Dumbledore for the Harry Potter TV series as John Lithgow is in talks for the role.

Deadline reports that John Lithgow is in final negotiations to play Professor Albus Dumbledore in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. As has become customary with any of these Harry Potter casting stories, HBO declined to comment. “We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation,” the network said in a statement. “As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalize deals.“

The casting process for the series has been in full swing, with plenty of names rumoured to be up for the iconic characters. We’ve already seen a few actors eyed for the role of Dumbledore, including Mark Rylance and Mark Strong. Personally, I was rather fond of the idea of Rylance playing the character, but I guess things didn’t work out.

Other actors who have been considered for the series include Paapa Essiedu as Professor Snape, Sharon Horgan and Lesley Manville for Professor McGonagall, and Brett Goldstein for Hagrid. However, nothing has been confirmed. As for Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, upwards of 32, 000 kids have auditioned for the roles, and the selection process is still ongoing. Succession‘s Francesca Gardiner will serve as a writer and showrunner on the series, while Mark Mylod signed on to executive produce and direct multiple episodes. The project was originally developed for Max but made the leap to HBO (along with a variety of other Max shows) last summer.

Each season of the Harry Potter TV series is said to cover one of Rowling’s novels, for a total of seven seasons. While the movies were able to fit quite a lot in, there were plenty of moments cut from the novels that the TV series will finally be able to bring to life. Last year, the studio released a statement saying, “Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.” Production is expected to kick off in the summer of 2025.
