Happy Head Launches the First Liposomal Topical Cream for Hair Growth

Happy Head Launches the First Liposomal Topical Cream for Hair Growth
Happy Head and Its Dermatologists Have Developed a First-of-Its-Kind Hair Growth Topical Cream Infused With Finasteride and Minoxidil

Happy Head today announces the launch of its newest innovation in topical hair growth solutions. Designed by dermatologists and hair restoration experts, this formula infuses the strongest prescription-grade hair growth medicine into a liposomal base which gradually releases the medication into hair follicles and reduces systemic absorption and potential side effects. Its the first product of its kind to use FDA-approved ingredients in a lipid-based, mess-free formula.

Happy Head's Topical Finasteride and Minoxidil (Liposomal Formula) is a daily-use product designed to make treating hair loss easy. No gel, spray or other topicals have been able to achieve this level of treatment. Dermatologists say three to six months of Topical Finasteride and Minoxidil (Liposomal Formula) use will not only help regrow lost hair, but prevent further hair loss.

Hair loss causes intense psychological distress. Over two-thirds of men experience hair loss by the age of 35, but it's not just men. Over 40 percent of Americans who experience hair loss are women.

Because hair loss affects so many people, the cosmetic industry has been hard at work producing solutions to address the problem of hair loss. Combining Minoxidil and Finasteride in one convenient topical formula will provide customers with an even more powerful solution with a lower risk of side effects.

"Our liposomal formula is a game changer in the hair industry because it can potentially reduce  the systemic absorption of Finasteride. This translates to a lower risk of sexual side effects from Finasteride. Many patients avoid using Finasteride because of the potential side effects. Finasteride inhibits the DHT formation, mainly affecting scalp DHT and not serum DHT (the real benefit is that serum DHT and serum Testosterone are left unaffected). Our topical also includes Minoxidil, which is unique because most liposomal formulas do not. So we're not only reducing the effect on systemic absorption, but also increasing blood flow to the scalp, which will allow for better hair growth," said Dr. Ben Behnam, M.D., FAAD, and co-founder of Happy Head.

This totally new hair growth solution isn't offered by any other brand. The product comes in a 30 ml bottle and will last for one month. It costs $179 per month and is delivered straight to the customer's door.

About Happy Head

Happy Head is a telemedicine provider of dermatologist-prescribed, customized hair medicine and treatments. Founded in 2021, Happy Head specializes in customized formulas to prevent and treat hair loss in both men and women. Happy Head products are backed by some of the best dermatologists and hair restoration experts in the industry. The company hopes to help people who struggle with hair loss to not only regrow their hair, but also regain their confidence and sense of self that is sometimes caused by hair loss.

Saw X image features Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young

Saw X image features Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young

A new image from Saw X, the tenth film in the Saw franchise, shows Shawnee Smith, reprising the role of Amanda Young

The trailer for the new film in the Saw franchise – which is going by the title Saw X since it’s the tenth installment – arrived online over the weekend, giving a preview of this story that’s set between the events of the first Saw and Saw II. Now a new image from the film has been unveiled, giving a look at a character who is able to return to the series because of its place in the timeline: Amanda Young, played by Shawnee Smith! The image can be seen at the bottom of this article. Saw X is set to reach theatres on September 29th.

Amanda was previously seen in Saw, Saw II, Saw III, and Saw VI. The character didn’t make it out of III alive (and neither did John “Jigsaw” Kramer).

Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter director Kevin Greutert (who also edited the first five films, plus Jigsaw) is back at the helm for Saw XJigsaw and Spiral: From the Book of Saw screenwriters Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg have written the script. Stolberg has promised that this movie “is gonna make John Kramer fans very happy!” It has been said that “The upcoming Saw movie is planned to be very much a John Kramer story … The idea is that the story is being told from Kramer’s point of view as opposed to following the trap victims.”

Here’s the synopsis: In the Twisted Pictures next installment John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back, and it’s the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s final games. Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.

Tobin Bell reprises the role of John Kramer / Jigsaw and is joined in the cast by Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Brand (The Sandman), Michael Beach (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Renata Vaca (Pedal to Medal), Paulette Hernandez (Crown of Tears), Joshua Okamoto (Control-Z), Octavio Hinojosa (How to Survive Being Single), and Smith.

Franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules of Twisted Pictures provided the following statement: “What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin. His performance as John Kramer is part of the magic that made this franchise a phenomenon and his character is an active part of this film.” They have previously said, “We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love.”

A press release from Lionsgate says “the return of Bell to the franchise furthers Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ goal of a film that captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all-new traps and a new mystery to solve.”

Deadline reminds us that Bell’s Kramer (otherwise known as Jigsaw) is “the antagonist at the heart of the Saw franchise – a former civil engineer who was diagnosed with colon cancer and subsequently elected to test others’ will to live via a series of deadly games. The character appeared in the first three Saw films before being killed off, then going on to appear via flashbacks in most of the films that followed.”

Are you looking forward to Saw X, and are you glad to see Shawnee Smith back in the role of Amanda Young? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.

Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) Joins Carebox Connect Network

Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) Joins Carebox Connect Network
Carebox to help LCRF advance lung cancer research by making it easier and more effective for patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to identify relevant lung cancer trials.

Carebox, a leading provider of clinical trial matching solutions, and the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF), a leading nonprofit organization focused on research to extend survival and improve quality of life for people with lung cancer, today announced the launch of a Carebox Connect experience optimized for lung cancer patients.

From the clinical trials page of the LCRF website, lung cancer patients, their caregivers and healthcare professionals can visit the Carebox Connect web application for an easy and effective way to search for and match to potentially relevant trials. By making this search resource available on its website, LCRF is connecting patients to research and enabling them to make the best treatment decisions for themselves.

Visitors to the web application can complete a 10-question questionnaire about the patient's lung cancer condition and then instantly see which of over 1,000 actively recruiting clinical trials with treatment options are potentially relevant for them. They can then get connected to a trial research site for next steps.

The Carebox Connect trial database is synchronized daily with the ClinicalTrials.gov clinical trial data maintained by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Applying its human-supervised AI, Carebox converts the unstructured text in ClinicalTrials.gov that describes eligibility criteria for enrollment into a searchable index of clinical criteria for matching with patient characteristics.

"Carebox Connect enables us to both advance research and make clinical trial treatment options much more accessible to the lung cancer patient community."
-Aubrey Rhodes, Executive Director of LCRF

For more advanced users, full search and filtering capabilities are available. Filters can be saved for future use. Furthermore, based on those saved filters, users can subscribe to receive Carebox Connect notifications in their email inbox whenever new trials open (or new sites open) in a defined distance radius from where they are located.

"LCRF is on a mission to improve lung cancer outcomes by funding research for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. Patient participation in clinical trials is a critical component on the road to our vision of a world free of lung cancer," explains Aubrey Rhodes, Executive Director of LCRF, adding that "Carebox Connect enables us to both advance research and make clinical trial treatment options much more accessible to the lung cancer patient community."

"The Carebox Connect Network has a common technology foundation and a unified end-user application," notes Assaf Levi, Carebox VP of R&D. "However, we can create customized experiences for each specific condition so that lung cancer patients arriving from LCRF are directed to the relevant questionnaire and trials for them. Knowing that we are touching the lives of so many patients and can help support efforts of organizations like LCRF in advancing such important research, is core to what makes working at Carebox special for the entire engineering team."

About the Lung Cancer Research Foundation

The Lung Cancer Research Foundation® (LCRF) is the leading nonprofit organization focused on funding innovative, high-reward research with the potential to extend survival and improve quality of life for people with lung cancer. LCRF's mission is to improve lung cancer outcomes by funding research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of lung cancer. To date, LCRF has funded 409 research grants, totaling nearly $42 million, the highest amount provided by a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding lung cancer research. Essex Cardiothoracic Centre Earns Award for Atrial Fibrillation Study That Demonstrates StatSeal Efficacy

Essex Cardiothoracic Centre Earns Award for Atrial Fibrillation Study That Demonstrates StatSeal Efficacy
Study demonstrates efficacy of StatSeal® Advanced Plus Disc use for groin closure following atrial fibrillation ablation procedures to treat patients with irregular heartbeats.

The acclaimed Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, part of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, was recognized with an award following their cutting-edge clinical study that evaluated a novel groin closure method to allow rapid same-day discharge following atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation procedures to treat patients with irregular heartbeats.

The study evaluated using the StatSeal® Advanced Plus Disc (Biolife, LLC) for femoral vein groin closure of AF ablation patients who remained on their anticoagulation medications. The previous closure method used was physician-placed sutures. During the study, 50 AF ablations were performed, and StatSeal Advanced Plus Disc was applied to the groin closure site by technicians, not the physicians, with only 5 to 10 minutes of manual pressure. The median recovery time for the StatSeal group was just 2 hours, compared to 4 hours with the suture closure method. The median discharge time for the StatSeal group was only 2.5 hours, compared to 5 hours with the suture closure method. StatSeal use resulted in a more than 50% decrease in recovery time, with no rise in complications, allowing patients to safely mobilize and get home earlier compared to the suture closure method. The study concluded that StatSeal use will likely lead to increased same-day discharge and fewer overnight stays following AF ablations.

As a result of this study, which demonstrates the efficacy of StatSeal use for groin closure, the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre has been recognized globally as a Centre of Excellence for Atrial Fibrillation by the Atrial Fibrillation Association. The study was published in the 2023 AF Healthcare Pioneer Report, which can be found online at: https://api.heartrhythmalliance.org/files/download/621e9388e8269ecaa50c07a133797450

Lead investigator Rhoel Peralta, Cath Lab Associate Practitioner at MSE Hospitals, commented, "Our efforts and success prove that we can all play our part for patients and make a difference, and this acknowledgment reinforces our commitment to providing exceptional care to our patients. We are thrilled to be recognized as a Centre of Excellence and AF Healthcare Pioneers. I am part of a much larger team where everyone came together and worked tirelessly."

Paul Reubens, Pee-wee Herman actor, dies at 70 after a private battle with cancer

Paul Reubens, Pee-wee Herman actor, dies at 70 after a private battle with cancer

Paul Reubens, the actor best known for portraying the child-like character Pee-wee Herman, has passed away from cancer at age 70.

Today’s secret word is sadness! Paul Reubens, the gifted actor and comedian best known for portraying Pee-wee Herman, died on Sunday at 70. According to Reubens’ estate, the red bowtie-loving ball of energy passed away after a private battle with cancer.

“Please accept my apology for not going public with what I’ve been facing the last six years,” Reubens wrote in an Instagram message posted to fans. “I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you.”

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness,” wrote Reubens’ estate in an Instagram post “Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”

Where do I begin? I can scarcely think of many actors that shine from my childhood as brightly as Reubens. The word “icon” comes to mind. Still, that needs to be more significant for this titan of entertainment. Reubens joined the Los Angeles troupe The Groundlings in the 1970s, bringing his signature off-kilter comedy brand to the stage. In 1982, Reubens debuted a character he’d been developing for years, Pee-wee Herman. Reubens delighted audiences with racy gags, innuendo, and knee-slapping one-liners in his light gray suit, red bowtie, and flip hairstyle. The show sold out for five months before HBO produced a special about Reubens’ daring comedic approach.

In 1995, Reubens starred in Tim Burton’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, featuring the title character on a search-and-rescue mission to find his stolen bicycle. Pee-wee’s Big Adventure did gangbusters at the box office, with the feature eventually reaching cult status among disaffected youth. Big Adventure‘s sequel, Big Top Pee-wee, was released in 1988 to less acclaim. However, Between 1986 and 1990, Reubens starred in the children’s program Pee-wee’s Playhouse, a variety show featuring notable cameos from Laurence Fishburne (Cowboy Curtis), Phil Hartman (Captain Carl), Natasha Lyonne (Opal), Jimmy Smits (Johnny Wilson), and a neverending roster of celebrity guests.

After several quiet years, Reubens re-emerged with one of my favorite comedies of all time, Kinka Usher’s Mystery Men. Reubens plays the gross-out hero Spleen in the quirky superhero adaptation. With the power of super-flatulence, Spleen wields his farts with unmatched precision and grave consequences. I’m not kidding when I say Mystery Men is one of my favorite films. I’ve seen it more times than I can count and love it more with each watch.

Reubens was more than his Pee-wee persona. The larger-than-life actor also voiced Max, a spacecraft’s wise-cracking interface in Flight of the Navigator, Amilyn the vampire in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lock in Henry Selick and Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Derek Foreal in Blow, Sir Terrence in episodes of Reno 911! Miami, the Desk Clerk in Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie, and much more!

We here at JoBlo wish Mr. Reubens safe travels to the Great Hereafter. Many childhoods at this site would not have been the same without Reubens (and, by extension, Pee-wee) making us laugh while helping shape our bizarre sense of humor. We wish Mr. Reubens’ family, friends, and fans love and healing.

Francis Ford Coppola says Barbenheimer points to “golden age” of moviegoing

Coppola has pointed to Barbie and Oppenheimer’s box office success as signs people want to see non-franchise movies on the big screen.

It seems so rare that the Movie Brats – the batch of New Hollywood directors who changed the game forever (for both good and bad, depending on your perspective) in the late ‘60s and ‘70s – have something positive to say about today’s cinema. But one, Francis Ford Coppola, thinks we could be in a renaissance for big screen movies, offering praise for the box office reception of, yes, Barbenheimer.

In an Instagram AMA session (yes, Coppola has Instagram; no, we can’t confirm that Sofia taught him how to use it, although he did confirm he was the one in charge of the AMA), the maestro said that the collective turnout at the movies for both Barbie and Oppenheimer, which have pulled in around $1.2 billion worldwide total so far, is a sign that people don’t just want to see major franchises on the big screen. “I have yet to see them, but the fact that people are filling big theaters to see them and that they are neither ‘sequels’ nor ‘prequels’… no number attached to them meaning they are true one-off’s is victory for Cinema.”

Based on the monumental turnout for these movies, Coppola said he is beyond hopeful for the state of the cinemagoing experience, adding, “My hunch is that we’re on the verge of a golden age wonderfully illuminating cinema seen in large theaters.” Here’s hoping his passion project, the $100+ million Megalopolis, can find the proper audience to recoup its budget, which is reportedly being financed by Coppola himself.

The 84-year-old Coppola has been outspoken against certain modern movies before, criticizing the likes of Marvel because “we expect to learn something from cinema, we expect to gain something, some enlightenment, some knowledge, some inspiration,” which he says such fare doesn’t offer. While he did continue to dismiss franchise flicks in his remarks, he is at least moving in a more positive direction with his take on the state of the box office.

Do you agree with Francis Ford Coppola that we could be heading towards a “golden age” of going to the movies? Where do you think Barbie and Oppenheimer will land on the top highest-grossing movies of 2023?
