Dead Ringers: Prime Video drops final trailer for Rachel Weisz reboot

Dead Ringers: Prime Video drops final trailer for Rachel Weisz reboot

Prime Video has released the final trailer for their ambitious, six-part tv adaptation of David Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2GlgUZJgV8

Who would have ever thought that we’d eventually come to a point when Dead Ringers, perhaps David Cronenberg’s most demented movie, would become so valuable an IP that Prime Video would reboot (and gender swap) the premise into a TV series? Indeed, Dead Ringers ranks as one of Cronenberg’s most arresting works. While the idea of turning his film about demented twin gynecologists (unforgettably played by Jeremy Irons) into a series seems like a reach, the show has one thing about it that instantly gives it credibility: Rachel Weisz.

Now, Prime Video has released the final, full trailer for the much-anticipated series, which starts streaming on April 21st. All six episodes will be released on the same day, and while Cronenberg is not involved in the show, the behind-the-scenes talent is noteworthy. The showrunner, Alice Birch, is a veteran of Succession and was a writer on Normal People, the show introduced us to two of the biggest rising stars today, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones. The directors include Martha Marcy May Marlene & The Iron Claws Sean Durkin, and Yellowjackets’ Karyn Kusama.

This new version of Dead Ringers stars Weisz as Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twin gynecologists. As in the movie, one is altruistic and kind, while the other is more of a libertine. While it remains to be seen if the show gets a wild as the movie (including “gynecological instruments for mutant women”), it certainly looks like a prestigious and sophisticated series, anchored by Rachel Weisz, who, at this point, can’t go wrong. She’s among the most underrated actresses in the business, so while many might dismiss a Cronenberg property getting made without him, I’m inclined to give this show the benefit of the doubt.

Will you be watching the Dead Ringers series when it hits Prime Video on April 21st? Let us know in the comments!

"Supply disruptions manifest in various forms today, ranging from recalls and shortages to backorders and market withdrawals," said Guillermo Ramas, Founder & CEO of NotiSphere. Dispatch Media Group Names AmplifyBio a Winner of The Columbus Top Workplaces 2023 Award

Dispatch Media Group Names AmplifyBio a Winner of The Columbus Top Workplaces 2023 Award

AmplifyBio has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2023 honor by Columbus C.E.O. Magazine Top Workplaces. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The confidential survey uniquely measures 15 culture drivers that are critical to the success of any organization: including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.

For AmplifyBio, the honor comes just a little less than two years after their spinoff from Battelle in May of 2021. At the time of launch, there were 125 employees that made the transition. The organization has grown to 302 since that time. Based on AmplifyBio's specific survey results, investment in innovation, execution of growth plans, and the implementation of employee engagement forums and industry-leading benefits are all contributing to the high degree of employee satisfaction across the organization.

"Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees," said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. "That's something to be proud of. In today's market, leaders must ensure they're allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That's paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends."

"When I was brought on to build a People and Culture department at AmplifyBio shortly after their launch, it was quite apparent that creating and maintaining an employee-centric culture was a top business priority for our executive team," said Kristi Willis, Head of People and Culture for AmplifyBio. "We are very proud to receive this honor, based directly on feedback from our employees, especially so early in our journey. We know this is a continually evolving process, and that our work must continue to keep making AmplifyBio a place people are excited to build a career at."

AmplifyBio's high growth and hiring tempo will continue into 2023 with the opening of a new facility in New Albany, Ohio.

The Flash: Ben Affleck reveals cameo appearance of another DCEU character in the upcoming film [SPOILERS]

The Flash: Ben Affleck reveals cameo appearance of another DCEU character in the upcoming film [SPOILERS]

SPOILERS FOR THE FLASH IN THE ARTICLE. Ben Affleck is not throwing any caution in the wind and disregarding the secrecy of the upcoming film.

SPOILERS FOR THE FLASH BELOW

.

.

.

.

Welp, the DCEU films have been rife with spoiler reveals lately. Before the release of Shazam: Fury of the Gods, perhaps in a gesture of desperation, the Warner Bros. marketing machine showcased a cameo reveal in an official TV spot that showed Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman make an appearance. This may have been an added attempt to marry Shazam into the DC universe more definitively as it has recently been reported that Dwayne Johnson had put the kibosh on crossovers between Black Adam and Shazam characters. And in an Instagram live video, Zachary Levi would reveal more cameos that appeared in Fury of the Gods when their originally planned cameos fell through. Levi would jokingly apologize for the spoilers, but shrug it off, “Whatever. It’s all out there.”

Collider reports that, recently, Ben Affleck appeared on the Smartless podcast, hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes, to promote his new movie, Air. While in a conversation about how he finally figured out how to play the Batman character in The Flash, Affleck outright reveals a sequence which seems to be a turning point for both the character and the plot, as well as giving away a cameo appearance.

Affleck explained, “I don’t wanna give a spoiler, but it was a scene where I get caught, I get saved by Wonder Woman during a conflagration with some bad guys. And she saves me by– I mean, I’m sure the spoiler, DC assassins are gonna get me, but […] she saves me with the Lasso of Truth. And so what happens is that Batman divulges some of his real feelings about his life and his work… I was like, ‘Wait a minute, I got it!’”

Perhaps DC is taking less precaution with spoilers since the universe is about to be rebooted anyway. However, it’s quite clear they are not being as tight-lipped as Marvel with their spoilers, where the actors have been forbidden to give any kind of detail that may lead to a spoiler. The Flash will involve breaking timelines and crossing between universes, which is how MIchael Keaton’s Batman becomes involved. Most have predicted that this may be the way DC resets its timeline and characters with the butterfly effect undoing all the missteps taken by the studio. However, the film is also getting some positive buzz on its own merits as Tom Cruise reportedly was given an advanced screening and loved it.

Hope: Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander to star in a new thriller from The Wailing director Na Hong-Jin

Hope: Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander to star in a new thriller from The Wailing director Na Hong-Jin

Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander will star in Na Hong-Jin’s next thriller, Hope, about residents of a harbor town fighting to survive.

Korean director Na Hong-Jin (The Wailing) is teaming up with two of Hollywood’s most intriguing stars, Michael Fassbender (PrometheusSteve Jobs) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish GirlTomb Raider), for his new thriller, Hope. According to Deadline, the mostly Korean-language film follows the residents of Hopo Port, where a mysterious discovery upsets the outskirts of the remote harbor town. Before long, the residents find themselves desperately fighting for survival against something they have never encountered before.

Hope is selecting additional cast members now while the project is in pre-production. Cameras will roll in Korea in late 2023, with Fassbender and Vikander eagerly anticipating the chance to work with Na Hong-Jin. The couple will speak English in the film, despite most of the cast speaking in Korean.

Plus M Entertainment is producing Hope. The Korean producer-distributor recently entered a deal with Na, hoping for a smooth production as they build their relationship. Hong Kyung-pyo (Parasite, Burning), who worked with Na on The Wailing, is the project’s cinematographer.

“Oftentimes, a person’s goodwill can lead to unintended catastrophe simply because of differences in perspective. My hope for this film is to cinematically capture that phenomenon in a way that has yet to be seen,” said Na.

“Director Na’s new project Hope is not only a high-quality film but an enthusiastic project that has the potential to expand its IP to various content distribution channels. Above all, we’ve decided to invest in this project because we have the utmost trust in director Na’s creative vision. Plus M will collaborate and support Hope to make it a global success,” Plus M Entertainment said about financing Na’s next feature.

Na Hong-Jin directed and wrote The Wailing. The film focuses on a stranger who encounters a sickness that starts spreading through the area after arriving in a mysterious village. A police officer, drawn into the darkness, must solve the mystery before his daughter falls prey to the illness. Jun Kunimura, Hwang Jung-min, and Kwak Do-won star in the disturbing drama about survival and sickness.

What do you think about Fassbender and Vikander joining Na’s next film? Feel free to let us know in the comments.

Interview: Marko Zaror and Natalia Tena Talk John Wick: Chapter 4

We talk with Marko Zaror and Natalia Tena about their work in John Wick: Chapter 4, starring Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen.

John Wick is finally back in theatres, much to the delight of audiences and critics alike. John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently at 94% – both critically and with the audience score – on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s a very good thing, especially when the third sequel, and fourth film, is likely going to be the most successful film in the franchise thus far. Once again, the film stars Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, and Lance Reddick. Joining this incredible cast is Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins, and Bill Skarsgard, the film also features both Marko Zaror and Natalia Tena. And yes, this cast is just as good as they could possibly be.

We’ve been speaking to several cast members, as well as the film’s director, Chad Stahelski over the course of the past couple of weeks. It’s been fantastic to get inside this excellent masterclass in action. And the conversations continued with Marko Zaror, who portrays Chidi. The Chilean martial arts superstar was thrilled to be involved in this massive project. He also opened up about being a part of the John Wick mythology. The same can be said for the lovely and talented Natalia Tena, who portrays Katia. The actress was thrilled to jump in. Both of these fine folk were terrific to speak with.

If you haven’t seen it, check out John Wick: Chapter 4 immediately. If you’ve seen it, another watch may be in order.

Nicolas Cage has “mixed feelings” on Keanu Reeves after he hustled him in pool

Nicolas Cage has “mixed feelings” on Keanu Reeves after he hustled him in pool

Nicolas Cage recalled the time Keanu Reeves hustled him in billiards inside of his own home, making endless “impossible” shots.

“Watch them, the children of the night. What trick shots they make!” As Nicolas Cage gears up for the latest movie, Renfield (which seems like another blast from this phase of his career), he has recollected a moment between himself and Keanu Reeves that has left him with “mixed emotions” about the John Wick actor.

During their Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) this week to promote next month’s Renfield, stars Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult were asked a series of questions related to both that movie and many others. With John Wick: Chapter 4 crushing it at the box office, the two were asked what their favorite Keanu Reeves movie was. While Hoult was direct, saying the first John Wick and 1994’s Speed, Cage was a bit, shall we say, cagey. While he did finally settle on “early stuff like Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1986’s River’s Edge (“He was just great in that movie.”), the most revealing part came when Nicolas Cage recalled a personal anecdote between himself and Keanu Reeves. “Well…Keanu kicked my ass at billiards one night,” said Cage. “He came up to my house on his motorcycle, and he was making these impossible shots. He said “now I dunno if I can get that shot or this shot” and he made every single shot. So I have mixed emotions about the skill that Keanu has because he completely dominated me at pool.”

Building off of Nicolas Cage’s comment, Keanu Reeves does seem to have a deceptive way about him. Once a punchline as an airhead, he has become a sort of hero among movie fans. This is the guy who will give up his seat on the subway, the guy who will donate millions to charity without causing a fuss, the guy who will miraculously, in his 50s, prove to be one of the greatest action stars of this century.

Interestingly, Nicolas Cage and Keanu Reeves have never starred in a movie together. Still, while Cage is now playing Count Dracula, Reeves has his own Dracula twist in his filmography, starring in 1992’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula as Jonathan Harker.

Renfield arrives in theaters on April 14th.

Whether or not Keanu Reeves has whopped you in billiards, what is your favorite performance of his? Let us know in the comments section below!

Deadpool 3: Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams will return for Marvel’s bloody superhero sequel

Deadpool 3: Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams will return for Marvel’s bloody superhero sequel

Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams are returning to Marvel’s Deadpool franchise to play Dopinder and Blind Al, respectively, in Deadpool 3!

Casting announcements for Deadpool 3 are heating up, and today we’ve learned Karan Soni (Brooklyn Nine-NineDeadpool) and Leslie Uggams (RootsBlack Girl) will return for Wade and Wolverine’s wacky adventure! Soni plays Dopinder, Wade’s driver-turned-friend and eager sidekick, while Uggams plays Blind Al, Wade’s roommate, and confidant. They join Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen for the highly anticipated Marvel threequel.

Corrin’s character remains a mystery, though we know she’ll star in a villainous role. As for Macfadyen, the Succession actor’s role has yet to be confirmed. However, sources say he’ll play a “third wheel” character to Wade and Wolverine.

Shawn Levy will be entering the franchise with this entry as the director. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will write the screenplay, who will work from a previous draft by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. Also, this being the first Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnation of Deadpool, Kevin Feige will join the project as a producer along with Reynolds and Levy.

Plot details for this film are not yet known and will be kept secret in true Marvel fashion. Not only will this be the first time the rated R property will be working within the official Marvel Studios brand, but this marks a surprise performance by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine since he donned the claws for the James Mangold-directed Logan. Addressing fans, Reynolds and Jackman said the events of Deadpool 3 would not change the outcome of Logan, in which the Canadian superhero died during the film’s finale.

Dopinder and Blind Al’s return to the franchise should be music to the ears of Deadpool fans. Although their screen time was brief, both characters added plenty of laughs and heart to the R-rated superhero romp. I wonder if either will play a more significant role in future events. Will Dopinder be upgraded to a proper weapon-wielding sidekick? Will the cantankerous Blind Al use her charm and marksmanship to put bad guys in their place? How will either character react to the heated bromance between Deadpool and Wolverine? I have so many questions and look forward to seeing how this all shakes out.

Are you excited for Soni and Uggams to return to Marvel’s Deadpool franchise? Let us know in the comments!
