Oculogica Publishes 5-Site Study on Its FDA-Cleared Concussion Diagnostic

Oculogica Inc. announces publication of the initial five-site study performed to obtain FDA Marketing Authorization for its EyeBOX technology as an aid in the diagnosis of concussion. EyeBOX uses eye tracking to assess pupil size and position to determine whether a person has sustained damage to brain regions that control those functions.

The study, published in Frontiers in Neurology Dec. 1, 2022, was performed on 282 emergency room or concussion clinic patients ages 5 to 67 within two weeks of injury. Study participants were evaluated at New York City's Bellevue Hospital, Rochester's Mayo Clinic, Pittsburgh's Allegheny Hospital, Denver's Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, and Beaver Dam Wisconsin's Community Hospital.

The study demonstrated that patients who had symptoms of concussion and scored poorly on a cognition assessment were more likely to have abnormal eye tracking, as assessed by the technology's proprietary BOX (Brain injury associated Ocular motility dysfunction) Score. The BOX Score diagnosed concussion with over 80% sensitivity.

"The brain has tremendous heterogeneity of normal baseline function. This makes it challenging to figure out normal versus abnormal function when injury occurs. Assessment of pupil size and movement can be a powerful way to assess function because the majority of people have relatively normal function that is controlled reflexively. A person cannot pretend to have pupils that constrict normally and move in a synchronized way when they do not," said neurosurgeon Uzma Samadani, MD, Ph.D., and Oculogica founder. "Similarly, if their brain and therefore pupil function is normal, it is difficult to pretend that it is not. Eye tracking to assess pupil size and position is a truly objective measure of physiologic brain function. We consider it a form of more precise digital neurologic examination. We believe that this will eventually and inevitably become standard of care."

"We decided to publish this data because so many people have asked us what the gold-standard for concussion is, and how one obtains FDA approval for a concussion diagnostic," said Oculogica CEO Rosina Samadani, Ph.D. "The reality is that there is currently no single gold-standard, and that is one of the challenges of any study in the field. We found that those with the worst symptoms and poorest cognition were most likely to have an elevated BOX score. Fundamentally, if a patient has abnormal eye reflexes or movement, that is their objective physiologic condition, regardless of symptom severity or ability to perform on a cognitive test. This information is helpful when people may under or over-report symptoms or have high or low baseline cognitive skills. It also may reduce biases due to language, culture, education or other factors that impact traditional patient assessment."

The EyeBOX technology is the first non-invasive, non-baseline requiring concussion diagnostic approved by the FDA for aid in the diagnosis of concussion. Leading clinics, such as the Mayo Clinic, Midwest Orthopedics at Rush University and Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, amongst others, offer the technology.

Boys & Girls Clubs – North Central North Carolina Kicks-Off .4 Million Granville County Renovation
Granville County Boys & Girls Club Prepares for the Future by Creating "A Place to Become"

This $1.4 million dollar renovation will enable the Granville location to enhance its physical location and create an even greater vision for its future.

Running through a special "Kick-Off" banner, members of the Granville County Unit created a feeling of excitement for this project. Generous support for the renovation was evident as many Granville County Government members, area business owners, and community leaders joined in the celebration.

The Club opened to serve youth 11 years ago at Mary Potter Middle School, later expanding into St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. In 2014, the Club received a gift from Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company - their unused warehouses - which later became home for BGCNCNC's corporate headquarters.

In 2020, CEO Donyell "DJ" Jones began to create the vision for the renovation project. With their understanding of the importance of Boys & Girls Clubs, not only to its members and their families but the greater impact on the entire Granville County community, longtime supporters Richard & Noel Moore committed to making a significant investment in the project to help launch "A Place to Become." Their gift established the foundation for this project's funding.

The National Boys & Girls Club Movement began in 1860 in Hartford, Connecticut. Over the next several years their mission began to grow beyond just their community and today there are over 5,000 Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation and around the world.

Today the impact local Clubs have on their members and their communities is invaluable. Below are some general BGCNCNC statistics that prove just that.

• 96% regularly attending Club members make on-time grade progression.

• For every $1 donated to the Club there is a $9 economic return on investment

• 89% of Club members surveyed report the Club is a "Safe, Positive Environment.

• 87% of Club members surveyed report the Club offers a "Supportive Adult Connection."

• 84% of Club members surveyed report the Club creates a "Sense of Belonging.

• 83% of Club members surveyed report they "believe they can make a difference in their community.

• 91% of Club members have avoided risky behaviors - smoking, alcohol, fighting, marijuana, etc.

* Results are based on the 2022 National Youth Outcome Initiative Survey Data.

BGCNCNC's leadership is dedicated to providing positive youth development experiences and targeted programs to young people "who need us most." As such, they are committed to this capital campaign and the successful completion of this project.

The renovations will begin on Feb. 6, 2023, and are estimated to be completed by June 1, 2023. This campaign will be part of the ongoing fundraising efforts for this first phase of the project as well as any future capital projects.

OpenBots Expands Network to Include Xpertek Contact, Roth Automation, and Intellese

The new digital workers are designed to automate the inbound shipping process, accounts payable processing, delinquent invoices, and tax cards and vesting deeds.

Intelligent Automation Platform OpenBots is collaborating with three solutions providers, Xpertek Contact, Roth Automation, and Intellese, to develop four new digital assistants for its growing digital workforce.

OpenBots is a fully bundled intelligent automation platform that allows companies to scale their digital transformation initiatives. Until now, businesses had to pay expensive licensing fees. OpenBots flips the script by giving companies access to its complete line of enterprise tools with monthly plans based on consumption hours instead of individual automation.

Xpertek Contact offers services and solutions in hyperautomation, electronic data extraction, and Wi-Fi Location-based marketing. The company is the developer of digital assistants Rachel and Fred. Rachel is an inbound shipping process assistant that automates the inbound shipping process to enable online retailers to receive orders in their warehouses much faster. The result is a faster turnaround on customer orders. Fred provides 80% faster invoice or payment approval times, 100 reductions in paper documents, and 100% accuracy between Purchase Order and ERP.

Intellese is a consultant company in the energy sector. They provide an automation solution is a Tax Card and Vesting Deeds digital assistant used to simplify the process for land agents to get ownership information, land information, and taxation information to determine who owns a property, what they are doing with the property, the value of the property, and the location of the property.

Vesting Deeds show how and when a person or entity acquired a piece of real property. Landmen, Abstractors, and Title Attorneys need this information to begin chaining titles back 20, 50, or 100 years, or all the way back to sovereignty. Sadly, these processes are very tedious and time-consuming; however, with this new digital assistant, land agents can focus on more involved tasks such as chaining titles, looking for encumbrances and liabilities, and organizing the data, while Intellise's digital worker quickly finds and extracts the data they need. In comparison, human agents save the file up to 75% faster and can run at the beginning of the project in bulk so that the entire data set is ready for access simultaneously.

Roth Automation is a provider of end-to-end professional services and project management. The company offers a range of solutions to capture, extract and utilize information from documents to automate repetitive, error-prone work processes to amplify efficiency. Roth Automation designed XO to automate the collection of delinquent invoices. XO follows all the same processes as a human worker but at a much faster pace and with greater accuracy.

Cohen Veterans network at VVSD "Joining Forces" with White House in Support of Military Families as the Network Fills the Gaps in Mental Health Services

Cohens Veteran Network (CVN) at VVSD, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization that serves post-9/11 veterans, active duty service members and their families through a nationwide system of mental health clinics, welcomed First Lady Jill Biden at its Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at VVSD (Veterans Village of San Diego), Oceanside in Oceanside, CA on Feb. 4, 2023, as part of the White House's Joining Forces initiative to support military and veteran families, caregivers and survivors. The initiative, which centers around bringing awareness to the experiences of military-connected families, highlighting the resources available to them, and driving policy improvements, includes a focus area of health and well-being. Since its inception in 2016, CVN has provided accessible, high-quality mental health services to 50,000 clients across its growing network of clinics.

"We are thrilled to host Dr. Biden as she remains resolute in her mission to support our nation's military families," says Cohen Veterans Network President and CEO Dr. Anthony Hassan. "We are grateful that she is bringing awareness to the experiences of military families to generate additional public support and that she is working to connect military families with the resources they greatly need and deserve."

There are currently over 2 million uniformed U.S. service members and 2.6 million family members across the globe. Due to the distinctive circumstances associated with military life such as deployments and reintegration, long separations, and frequent moves, many military family members experience unique mental health concerns. In fact, while military families have proven to be incredibly resilient overall, it has been found that children from military families have a higher risk of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges including anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation in comparison to children who are not from military families.

Mental health was the topic of a roundtable discussion held today as part of Dr. Biden's visit. She heard from military family members and veterans about their challenges, sacrifices, strength, and resilience, as well as their experiences in reaching out for help. Dr. Biden was additionally provided a tour of the Cohen Clinic, which was specifically designed with military families in mind.

The Cohen Clinic at VVSD (Veterans Village of San Diego), Oceanside is located a short distance from Camp Pendleton, which is one of the Department of Defense's busiest installations. The area is home to nearly 40,000 active duty service members, 33,000 post-9/11 veterans and more than 31,000 military family members. All of whom are eligible for care that the Cohen Clinic in Oceanside provides.

"Due to shortages in on-base mental health providers, the Cohen Clinic at VVSD, Oceanside provides a viable alternative to timely and quality mental health care for our service members, veterans, and their families that is essential to personnel and unit readiness," says Colonel Daniel M. Whitley, Assistant Chief of Staff G-7, Government & External Affairs, MCIWest-MCB Camp Pendleton.

"In a place like San Diego, CA, home to one of the largest populations of service members, veterans, and their families, VVSD recognizes the importance of initiatives like Joining Forces," says Veterans Village of San Diego President and CEO Akilah Templeton. "Dr. Biden's efforts towards raising awareness and encouraging collaboration in support of military families are inspiring."

The Cohen Clinic at VVSD, Oceanside is one of 23 Cohen Clinics in high-need communities across the country. The network combines military culturally competent care with staff members trained to work with veterans and military families. Many clinic team members are military connected individuals with nearly 25% of Cohen Clinic staff being veterans and 21% being military spouses.

The network treats the entire military family including spouses, partners, children, parents, caregivers, survivors, and others. Approximately 47% of CVN clients are military or veteran family members, while nearly 53% of all clients are veterans or active duty service members. Treatment is available for a wide variety of mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, anger, PTSD, grief and loss, family issues, transition challenges, relationship problems, and children's behavioral problems. Care is available in person or via CVN Telehealth, face-to-face video therapy.

"We know that treatment works, and it is imperative that military families have access to culturally competent mental health services with their unique circumstances in mind. We heard it firsthand from our clients in the room today. So, when a military family member raises their hand for help, we must be there to support them. In an effort to save lives, save families and save futures, CVN remains committed to removing barriers to treatment and filling the gaps in care," says Dr. Hassan.

RAAPID.AI Celebrates First Anniversary

Healthcare AI-powered Risk Adjustment technology and services company achieves significant milestones in its first year.

Celebrating its first anniversary, RAAPID sees a bright future for its Risk Adjustment solutions based on what they have accomplished in year one.  Despite spending far more on healthcare than other nations, the US lags behind in many key health measures, including life expectancy, accessibility, and value for service. Higher cost does not equate to higher quality and acceptance and adoption of sustainable, unique, and customized AI-driven solutions for Medicare Advantage Organizations, and healthcare providers continue to grow, and RAAPID is at the forefront of building new and dynamic solutions for their customers around the globe.

About RAAPID

Launched in February 2022, RAAPID, the personalized AI assistant for risk capture, is providing healthcare payers, medical coding service organizations, providers, and facilitators across the United States with access to the most powerful risk adjustment platform on the market.   RAAPID's solutions give payers, providers, coders, and hospital executives the opportunity to accurately structure key data points to effectively determine patient risk scores and calculate premium totals.

Raapid.ai has developed its state-of-the-art NLP (Natural Language Processing) technology that runs on top of Deep Learning algorithms. RAAPID 's patented technology has been trained across millions of real clinical charts and delivers accurate outcomes. This AI-powered Risk Adjustment Software ensures you don't miss out on HCC codes or RAF scoring opportunities while ensuring compliance by removing unsubstantiated codes. RAAPID combines the latest advances in machine learning, AI, natural language processing, data science, and data engineering with deep clinical and biomedical expertise.

Talking about the long history of the foundation of RAAPID:

RAAPID is Chetan Parikh's latest venture, a modern natural language processing (NLP) powered, AI-driven risk adjustment solution.

We are committed to developing and deploying advanced healthcare AI technologies that empower healthcare workers to deliver affordable care with empathy and make a positive impact on their lives. Our goal is to make human activities more meaningful" Affirms Chetan.

Reminiscing on the Past

"There are lessons to be learned from the past and I think for RAAPID, it comes down to two things. First, dream big! We had big dreams when we started RAAPID. We made these dreams come true by turning them into goals and actionable strategies. What we have achieved is far beyond the wildest dreams we had at the start of this journey.

Second, believe in your dreams passionately, show resilience, learn from your mistakes, and get back up when you get knocked down: the power of passion and perseverance!" recalls Chetan

Casting the Future:

This year, RAAPID is entering a new phase with AI-Driven personalized solutions for healthcare providers. We are creating new technology innovations transforming our engineering and product lines to improve customer experience with a commitment to continuing to deliver value with speed and accuracy.

Through leveraging its innovative deep Knowledge Graph-based Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology, RAAPID reads charts just like any human coder would do, and automatically suggests risk adjustment-relevant codes, eliminating inefficiencies and inaccuracies in the process. By streamlining manual coding workflows through the platform, users can expect significant improvements in hierarchical condition category (HCC) Coding and risk adjustment factor (RAF) scores, RAAPID offers the most efficient risk adjustment workflow automation capabilities available today.

The Way Forward

RAAPID's vision is to become the world's leading technology provider of customizable risk adjustment products for value-based healthcare organizations. The goal of the organization for the next five years is to make its SaaS and API offerings accessible to all healthcare payers, providers, and medical coders for better data accuracy, proper on-time risk score derivation, and most importantly, achieve value-based care.

Our esteemed customers recognize the differentiated value we bring to them in terms of superior service delivery, innovative solutions, and responsiveness to their needs. They also recognize our contribution to the healthcare industry.

We need to continue to build on their trust and demonstrate clear actions. The overall market will continue to get more competitive, and we absolutely need to continuously improve to stay ahead of the competition and achieve our goals. We have established an incredibly talented group of SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), Engineers, Data Scientists, Medical Coders, and Advisors to ensure we are at the right speed in terms of technology adoption and implementation.

Saying that, our core values - Integrity, commitment, and transparency remain the guiding principles for everything we do, and I would like to continue with this as the major driving force for RAAPID as an organization."

OpenBots Expands List of Growing Partnerships as Part of Its Automation Delivery Services
The bundled and fully featured Intelligent Automation Platform OpenBots adds two renowned companies to its partner network to continue helping businesses grow and expand using world-class automation services.

OpenBots Partnerships with Hexaware and Simply Automate

OpenBots Partnerships with Hexaware and Simply Automate in the Global Digital Summit 2023

OpenBots is proud to assist companies in carrying out automation workflow solutions that successfully mimic human behavior and interactions on computers, connect disparate systems, process documents, and perform repetitive tasks with 100% accuracy. The platform provides businesses with a limitless team of bots and enterprise automation utilities without bot licensing fees.

A car auction company that carries out sales around the country previously conducted manual auction searches, which involved sending out requests manually, searching for vehicles, and other time-consuming, repetitive, and error-prone tasks. With the help of the OpenBots Platform, businesses have automated aspects of the car auction process that eliminate 80% of labor costs and save over 280 hours a week of manual searching. OpenBots partner, Simply Automate, is expected to save this client almost a quarter of a million dollars annually.

"Jumpstarting this client's automation program not only means more freedom," says Wilton Rogers, CEO of Simply Automate, "but it also means more flexibility and opportunity to place more time into initiatives that bring in more value, such as building relationships with the brokers. It makes work a lot easier and so much more productive."

OpenBots has announced a partnership with Hexaware, a global technology and business process services company. As part of its automation suite of solutions, Hexaware has automated the insurance claim status process, improving the current processing times manyfold. Claims status is an inquiry and response communication between a Payer and Policy Holder. A Policy Holder can send a request to a Payer to know the status of their claim, which then gets forwarded to a centralized portal system that confirms multiple Payers' status requests. Digital workers access this centralized portal, process the status request, and provide status responses to the Policy Holder - decreasing the average handling time from 15 minutes to one minute.

"Intelligent automation such as this not only streamlines business processes to ensure accuracy and improve employee satisfaction, but it also reduces operational costs and provides improved trackability and reporting," says Chandru Ramaswamy, Head of Intelligent Automation Services and Banking Operations at Hexaware

"There's been a huge growth of automation solution providers in just under a decade, which proves that many more enterprises are beginning to embrace such technologies to their own benefits, reducing their dependency on human employees and time."

CMO of OpenBots, Gilberto Marcano, says, "We do our best to ensure business owners, companies, and clients can complete mundane or everyday tasks far more effectively, in an automated way."

PaddleSmash Now Available in Scheels and Dick’s Sporting Goods, Following Record Holiday Online Sales

PaddleSmash fans can now get the popular game at two popular retail sporting goods stores, Scheels and Dick's Sporting Goods. The recently launched game that combines elements of the popular Pickleball and Spikeball experienced such a spike in holiday demand that co-founders Tim Swindle and Scott Brown had to quadruple inventory, resulting in record holiday sales for the young company.

  • PaddleSmash is a combination of the popular Pickleball and Spikeball.
  • Company co-founders had to quadruple inventory of recently launched game to meet holiday demand.
  • Portability and ease of use has made the family-friendly PaddleSmash a new backyard game sensation.

"We are thrilled to see the success and popularity of PaddleSmash," said Swindle. "It's amazing to see how many people are enjoying the game, and we look forward to introducing it to even more people this year."

Both Scott and Brown are veteran entrepreneurs in the toy and game space. Co-founder Scott Brown said that the company experienced 500 percent growth month-over-month, and they are on track to quadruple their revenue in 2023. The game is now selling in 47 states.

"We tested the game over several years before our launch, and while we instinctively believed in its appeal, the rapid success has exceeded our high expectations," said Brown. "I believe the game is seeing such success because in addition to combining the fun and competitive elements of Pickleball and Spikeball, it brings people together in a fun and safe atmosphere. In a world where distance is easy to accomplish, and not that long ago was necessary, it has become far too easy to maintain that distance. But what society and families really need is personal interaction."

In addition to the game now being available at Dick's Sporting Goods and Scheels, PaddleSmash is still available for online purchase at PaddleSmash.com.

About PaddleSmash

Launched in 2021, PaddleSmash combines the elements of Pickleball and Spikeball. The portable game is played in teams of two who play opposite one another across a central hexagonal court with a net. Home Equity Line of Credit vs. Personal Line of Credit

0
Home Equity Line of Credit vs. Personal Line of Credit

iQuanti: When you need a substantial amount of money for a household renovation or a new business venture but don't want to take out a lump sum loan, where can you turn? Many borrowers will turn to either a home equity line of credit or a personal line of credit loan. In this post, we'll get to know both options and explore which one may be a better fit.

What is a home equity line of credit?

A home equity line of credit (HELOC) is a revolving loan where the applicant borrows against the equity or value of their home. Home equity loans work very similarly to credit cards. After the lender opens the line of credit, the borrower may draw as little or as much of it as needed. The borrower will then have to repay the principal plus interest on any draws. HELOCs are secured loans where your house is used as collateral. This means that if you can't repay the loan, the lender may seize your house.

What is a personal line of credit?

A personal line of credit is also a revolving credit line that allows the borrower to draw funds up to a predetermined limit. However, unlike a HELOC, this loan is unsecured, meaning there's no collateral. The lender will approve you for this loan based on other qualifications, such as your credit score and income.

Differences between a HELOC and a personal line of credit

Although both types of credit lines are essentially flexible loans that can be used as much as the borrower needs, there are some notable differences:

1. Applicant qualifications

HELOCs will often be easier to apply for than personal lines of credit because you're offering collateral. Applicants who have higher credit scores and better financial resources can apply for an unsecured loan and avoid risking their homes. But even if you have poor credit, several lenders also offer personal lines of credit with less strict credit score requirements.

2. Interest rate

HELOCs offer some of the lowest interest rates on the market. However, this is again due to offering collateral. You can expect that a personal line of credit may carry a higher interest rate since the lender has nothing to secure the loan.

3. Credit limit

The limit for a personal line of credit is at the discretion of the lender. Based on your qualifications, you could potentially get a credit line as high as $100,000. By contrast, the limit for a HELOC may be higher or lower than an unsecured loan. It will completely depend on the value of your house and how much equity you have in it.

For instance, if your home is currently worth $300,000 and you've paid $100,000 of the loan, then you still owe $200,000. Many lenders limit the HELOC to 85 percent of the loan to value, so the upper limit of your credit line will be ($300,000 x 0.85) - $200,000 = $55,000.

4. Cost

Many HELOCs are low-cost and don't charge any fees, but personal lines of credit usually charge an annual maintenance fee. They may also impose a small fee each time you make a withdrawal.

The bottom line
