Retreat Behavioral Health Set to Enhance Inpatient Mental Health Treatment With Brainsway: Deep TMS Therapy

Retreat Behavioral Health Set to Enhance Inpatient Mental Health Treatment With Brainsway: Deep TMS Therapy
Retreat Partners With BrainsWay to Bring Alternative and Innovative Mental Health Care to Its Inpatient Facilities

PALM SPRINGS, Fla. - December 28, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Effective Dec. 21, 2022, Retreat Behavioral Health began to utilize Brainsway: Deep TMS therapy at the inpatient level at its facilities located in Ephrata, PA, and Palm Springs, FL.

BrainsWay Deep TMS therapy is an FDA-approved, non-invasive form of brain stimulation. The treatment is a patented helmet tool that uses DTMS — deep transcranial magnetic stimulation — to stimulate parts of the brain associated with depression. Brainsway also aids in the treatment of anxious depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and smoking dependency.

"Retreat decided to bring the Brainsway device to the inpatient after using it for some time now at the outpatient level and seeing its great results," said Ken Kosza, Chief Operating Officer at Retreat Behavioral Health. "Most of the patients we have served are folks that have struggled with depression for many years and have tried several different medications and therapies without their desired results. Brainsway's outcome shows a significant impact on the lives of the people who utilize the service."

Retreat is especially pleased to bring this service to the veteran population enrolled in the Healing Our Heroes program. Veterans tend to struggle with depression and co-occurring disorders at higher rates than civilians who did not spend time in the service. Retreat is proud to be able to offer this ancillary service that can make a significant impact on their journey.

Retreat is excited to bring Brainsway to its inpatient residential treatment facility, allowing them to readily identify patients that have failed with other treatments and can benefit from this effective treatment for severe depression. The setting will also allow for a safe environment where a patient can be properly monitored for the entire duration of the treatment. They will start to use this with patients within their veteran population. Of course, they will continue to offer this in outpatient settings.

Due to Brainsway being a non-invasive form of treatment that does not require surgery or implantation of electrodes, side effects are minimal and non-systemic. The most common side effects are temporary, mild pain or discomfort in the area of the treatment site, which commonly occurs within the first week of treatment.

Retreat is proud to be able to supplement our mental health treatment options at the inpatient level by providing state-of-the-art equipment and treatment such as Brainsway. To learn more, visit https://www.brainsway.com/.

Northwestern Mutual: Leaving a Legacy: What to Consider

0
Northwestern Mutual: Leaving a Legacy: What to Consider
MILWAUKEE - December 28, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Northwestern Mutual: When approaching or in retirement, it's very common to have a desire to leave something behind. While legacy planning is often thought of in financial terms, it can include so much more.

For retirees looking to leave a legacy, options abound. Some people may choose to share their skills and knowledge with others, either through teaching or writing. Others may opt for financial support, whether through direct giving or by setting up a trust or foundation. And still others may choose to build something tangible that will benefit future generations, such as a park or community center.

Here are a few ways to create a lasting legacy:

Sharing skills and knowledge

One of the most valuable things anyone can offer is their skills and experience. Retirees may choose to pass their knowledge on by leading formal classes or workshops, or informally through mentoring or coaching. Whatever the method, it's a way to share knowledge and experience and help others reach their potential.

Writing it down

Another way to leave a legacy is through writing. The writing could be in the form of a memoir, autobiography, or even just a simple letter to be passed on to future generations. Whatever the format, it's a way retirees can share their lives and experiences with others.

Financial support

For some retirees, leaving a financial legacy is important. This can be done in several ways, such as setting up a trust or foundation or making direct gifts to family members or charities. Permanent life insurance, like universal or whole life insurance, is an easy way to leave a financial legacy for family or even to an organization that was important to them.

Building something

Another way to leave a legacy is to build something that will benefit future generations. This could be a physical structure like a park or community center or something less tangible like a scholarship fund.

Sharing their time

Retirees have wisdom and experience to offer, and one of the best ways to pass it on it is by sharing their time. This could be volunteering with an organization, or simply spending time with family and friends.

A lasting legacy

Retirees hoping to leave a lasting legacy should consider all of their options and choose the one (or ones) that best suits their goals, values, and abilities. Whether they decide to teach, build, write, or donate, it's important to do what feels right. What matters most is that they take the time to consider what they want their legacy to be and how best to achieve it.

Northwestern Mutual: Can People With Diabetes Get Life Insurance?

0
Northwestern Mutual: Can People With Diabetes Get Life Insurance?
MILWAUKEE - December 27, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Northwestern Mutual: People with diabetes looking for life insurance coverage may wonder what the options look like. In general, people with diabetes can get a life insurance policy if their condition is well-controlled. However, they may end up paying higher rates than someone without diabetes. Factors like gender, age, the age they were when diagnosed, and the existence of any diabetes-related complications can all affect coverage.

Let's look at some considerations for people with diabetes looking to purchase life insurance:

Types of life insurance for people with diabetes

People with diabetes considering life insurance coverage may find themselves wondering whether to apply for a term life policy or a permanent life insurance policy, such as whole life insurance. What is whole life insurance? Whole life insurance is a permanent life insurance policy that features a death benefit with lifelong coverage, consistent premiums, potential dividends, and a cash-value component that can be accessed during one's lifetime. This differs from term life insurance, which offers lower premiums but only lasts for a specific period of time (often 10-20 years) and does not accumulate cash value. Having diabetes doesn't automatically exclude someone from permanent or term life insurance policies, and people with diabetes can potentially be approved for either.

Type 1 vs Type 2 diabetes

A principal factor determining rates and coverage is whether the applicant has Type 1 or 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes, which is generally a more severe condition, always requires insulin treatment and is usually diagnosed at a younger age. This means people with Type 1 diabetes likely have had the condition longer than people of the same age with Type 2 diabetes.

It's typically easier for someone with well-controlled Type 2 diabetes to get a life insurance policy. Although someone with Type 1 diabetes may be able to qualify for coverage — particularly a group plan, like what may be offered through work.

Life insurance with a medical exam vs guaranteed-issue life insurance

Many insurers' policies will require a medical exam before offering coverage. While undergoing an examination may result in better rates for people successfully managing their diabetes, people with past complications or health problems may prefer shopping for a guaranteed-issue policy that does not require a medical exam. Such policies come at a cost, however, as insurers often charge higher rates to account for the increased risk. No-exam policies typically offer less coverage and higher premiums but may be a better option for people who have a health condition that may make it difficult to qualify for coverage.

Managing diabetes and life insurance rates

Managing diabetes--through diet and exercise, medication, or other factors--can help people with diabetes get approved for a policy. People with well-managed diabetes may be more likely to be approved for life insurance, and their rates may be lower than someone with poorly-managed diabetes.

Life insurance for people with diabetes

While diabetes may make it difficult to get life insurance, there are options available. A financial advisor can help explain options and show how different types of policies fit into a larger financial plan.

New Barstow Policing Programs Get Underway as Economic Development Plans Emerge for Future Major BNSF Railway Project

New Barstow Policing Programs Get Underway as Economic Development Plans Emerge for Future Major BNSF Railway Project
CITY OF BARSTOW POLICE CHIEF ANNOUNCES CRIME IMPACT TEAM AND OTHER PROACTIVE MEASURES FOR FIGHTING CRIME

BARSTOW, Calif. - December 27, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

As time inches closer to the development of the largest railway hub in the west in Barstow, the City of Barstow's police chief is making enormous strides in safety improvements throughout the city, including the launch of a Crime Impact Team.

Barstow Police Chief Andy Espinoza, who has been at the helm of the department for just over a year, is implementing various programs and tactics to address crime as the city readies for a positive economic development surge from BNSF Railway's plans.

The key change has been going towards "more of a strategic-focused, data-driven, evidence-based policing," Espinoza said. With more police officers now assigned to specific beats and different areas of the city, stronger relationships and community ties are being developed, rather than when the officers were sent to calls throughout the entire city.

"We started being more proactive and addressing hot spots and locations where crime was happening, and the same officers are addressing them and conducting the follow up," Espinoza said. "We made it a priority to staff a specialized Crime Impact Team, putting cops in the right areas to help prevent crime."

Currently, the City of Barstow has 47 sworn officers and 20 non-sworn professionals, including dispatchers, technicians and clerks. The department would currently like to hire five more police officers, and then this number will continue to rise once the population increases from the BNSF Railway development over the next few years.

Each month, the police department reviews crime data with the entire patrol staff and detectives and then beefs up policing in certain locations needing it. Aside from this, Espinoza said several other measures are being taken to thwart crime and develop relationships with community members.

Among the measures are:

  • Added automated license plate readers on busy streets to help find suspects and solve crimes.
  • Initiated a part-time Homeless Outreach Proactive Enforcement (HOPE) team. This team allows officers to be proactive with the homeless and help them connect to needed services, such as shelter, bus tickets or food. This approach "gets ahead of problems" stemming from the homeless before the department receives complaint calls from citizens.
  • A Chief Advisory Board has been formed so the chief can receive input from community members, including educators, social workers, business owners and former police officers.
  • "Coffee with a Cop" is held every quarter, and "Tacos with a Cop" takes place at different times throughout the year. This strengthens relationships with residents.
  • Officers work with Barstow youth by taking part in industry youth coaching at the high school. The officers mentor students and work on projects with them to aid with their future workforce success.
  • The Police Activity League (PAL) raises funds for toys to deliver to children on Christmas Eve each year. PAL has been in the department for about 20 years.

Espinoza said other programs are in the works, including the development of a Community Action Team to work in community relations and target different apartment complexes in the city. The goal would be to generate a crime-free multi-housing division and certify the units.

"We have made great strides in addressing criminal activity in our city, and the results are already showing with property crimes trending much lower," he said. "As our city will go through a major change with the BNSF project and enormous population growth, we will be steadfast in ensuring the safety of our residents."

BNSF Railway plans to invest more than $1.5 billion to construct a state-of-the-art master-planned rail facility in Barstow. The Barstow International Gateway will be an approximately 4,500-acre new integrated rail facility on the west side of Barstow, consisting of a rail yard, intermodal facility and warehouses for transloading freight from international containers to domestic containers. When completed, the city expects it will double in size from 25,000 residents to 50,000.

Power Outages From Extreme Weather Are No Match for Dory Power’s Second-Generation Battery Generator
A transformative solar-rechargeable battery generator to power all your needs.

Dory Sentry Solar Generator

Dory Sentry, grid and solar rechargeable, is an industry-leading battery generator for portable and uninterruptible power supply.

CLEVELAND - December 27, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Never Lose Power Again. Extreme weather has created urgent needs for people throughout the country. Dory Power, a leading U.S. manufacturer of battery generators, launches its second-generation battery generator, the Dory Sentry, to help households and businesses adapt and respond to increasingly frequent and unpredictable power outages.

The Dory Sentry is an industry-leading battery generator that backs up critical devices—refrigerators, furnaces, TVs, microwaves, sump pumps, lights, computers, cable boxes, Wi-Fi, and cell phones. The Sentry is also powerful and reliable enough to run power tools, home healthcare devices, and even aquariums. The Sentry contains advanced lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, double-certified to UL1642 and UN38.3 standards, and is rechargeable via a wall outlet or solar panels. The Sentry requires no additional fuels for use, nor does it produce emissions or noise, making the Sentry the perfect indoor power solution.

The Sentry evolved from the first-generation Dory B2700 model. The B2700 has consistently garnered 5-star ratings on Amazon for multiple years. The first-generation Dories are widely used in households, hospitals, labs, data centers, law firms, restaurants, and universities throughout the U.S.

Dory battery generators were developed by Chris Yuan, an engineering professor at Case Western Reserve University and a world-renowned scientist on lithium-ion battery technology. "The idea for Dory came after a snowstorm and a two-day outage at my house," says Chris. "Like many people, I went on Amazon to buy a battery backup. I was stunned by the poor performance it delivered. I did not want anyone to be without power, so I started Dory Power."

As the flagship product, the Dory Sentry contains many cutting-edge technologies. The Sentry is the only battery generator on the market offering a true uninterruptible power supply, an essential function for backing up sensitive devices like computers, servers, medical equipment, and gaming devices. Dory's unique AI-driven MPEM-EIC techniques maximize power output and energy efficiency and enable the Sentry to retain its charge for over 1 year in storage. You will no longer be left frustrated and unprepared in the event of an emergency.

The Dory Sentry is the only portable battery generator built to U.S.-quality standards for 10 years of lifespan. 2-3 Sentries can be directly linked up to double or triple your backup time, a unique function only available from Dory. The Sentry can be used as a standalone power supply, or connected to an electrical panel for whole house or office backup. A mobile app is available to monitor the Sentry's usage and stats as well.

Currently, Dory Power is conducting a direct sales campaign, offering the best-ever discount for customers, until Dec. 31, 2022. The Dory Sentry comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and 2 years of warranty. A payment plan is also available.

Hereafter Farms is Building America’s Largest Sustainable Eco Community on 460 Acres in Georgia

Hereafter Farms is Building America’s Largest Sustainable Eco Community on 460 Acres in Georgia
The historic project brought together over 100 families in Central Georgia to build a Self Sustaining Community.

Hereafter Farms

Discussing Building Community

ATLANTA - December 27, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

"It's surreal that we're actually doing it," states Hereafter Farms Co-Founder Farrakhan Ali.

Their plan is to create a self-sustaining town where they and over 100 families will grow their own food, teach their own children, build sustainable housing, and develop businesses to create a healthy economic ecosystem that expands far beyond the community itself.

"When I started there were only a few of us. It was the height of the pandemic and I think we were all forced to think differently. I thought to myself, if there was ever a time to move towards self-sufficiency, this is it. It's time to do what I've been thinking about all these years. What I couldn't plan for was that there were thousands of people who were thinking the exact same thing I was at that time," says Ali.

After months of searching, they found the perfect property.

Their 460 acres in Georgia has water, roads, existing tiny homes, and enough infrastructure for them to get a few projects off the ground quickly.

The secret, according to Ali, is keeping God at the center of everything.

The 100+ families are a diverse group of farmers, educators, health professionals, builders, tradesmen, seniors and millennials, and from the looks of it, they have the people they need to build and manage their town.

When asked why they chose the name "The Hereafter," Ali explains it to us, "It's a new environment. Hereafter means something new, right here. We're building something new, growing something new, because we have a safe environment where everyone can be free to think and live creatively and peacefully."

They plan to farm their own food using organic techniques, greenhouses, tower farms, row crops, and harvesting natural energy to create sustainable growing systems using solar energy. Animals are in their future, and they have timber for expanded home construction.

Their school seems to be a top priority. "Studies show mental health in children has had a downward trend. We are neutralizing that by offering them a safe space and an inclusive educational experience, reconnecting them with nature, with themselves, with God, and with their neighbors."

The business plan is to create commercial activity that circulates currency within the community and expands outward into a public marketplace.

Their plan is to build in phases. The first phase includes clearing land, purchasing agricultural supplies and farming equipment, renovating the preexisting structures on the land, and covering the costs to get the development kicked off.

"We're not just building this town for us, but to leave a legacy for the next generation, so they can create a better world than the one we grew up in."

Glugeth & Pierguidi, P.C. is Offering NYC and NJ Free Rides During New Year's Celebrations

New Year Sober Rides Campaign from Glugeth & Pierguidi, P.C.

In an effort to help reduce the number of drunk driving accidents this holiday season, Glugeth & Pierguidi, P.C. is proud to offer a New Year's Eve free ride to anyone celebrating this year.

HOBOKEN, N.J. - December 27, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

In an effort to reduce drunk driving accidents this holiday season, Glugeth & Pierguidi, P.C. is proud to offer a New Year's Eve free ride to anyone celebrating this year. The campaign, which takes place in the New Jersey/New York City metropolitan area, will provide reimbursements for those who use an Uber, Lyft, or taxi instead of driving.

Why You Should Take a Free Ride in New York City or New Jersey This Year

The New Year's festivities in New York City is one of the largest in the world.

According to the National Safety Council (NSC), around 36% of all fatalities during the New Year's Holiday in 2019 involved a drunk driver. In fact, 2019 data from the City of New York indicates that there were 22 crashes involving a drunk driver over both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Most accidents happened before 8 AM on New Year's Day, and most involved an injury or fatality.

From this data alone, it's easy to see why so many people are so adamant about driving safely during the New Year holiday. In the New Jersey/New York City area, it's especially important because of the high number of drunk driving related injuries and deaths.

How to Get Your Free Ride

If you find yourself drinking on New Year's Eve, simply get a ride in an Uber, Lyft, or taxi. Once you get to your final destination, send a copy of your receipt and your ID to the following address within 10 business days:

Glugeth & Pierguidi, P.C.
5 Marine View Plaza, Suite 303, Hoboken, NJ 07030

To qualify for a free Uber or Lyft ride, you must meet the following requirements:

  • The ride must be taken within the NYC or New Jersey metropolitan area;
  • You must be of legal drinking age (i.e. 21 or older);
  • Reimbursement is only valid for a single one-way ride;
  • The ride must be taken between 5 PM on December 31, 2022 and 10 AM on January 1, 2023;
  • Reimbursement is limited to $30 including a 10% tip.

Keep in mind that reimbursements are limited to the first 100 submissions, so act fast!
