Since then, formal investigations have begun, conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Securities Commission of the Bahamas, and the Financial Crimes Investigation Branch.

Holding assets within a centralized exchange has significant risks. A common alternative is to utilize non-custodial wallets (warm or cold wallets), as this method is considered the most secure place to store cryptocurrency assets among crypto enthusiasts. This method, however, is also risky, as users cannot reset passwords or call customer support to recover lost secret phrases. Users also can be susceptible to malware, viruses, and social engineering attacks from scammers seeking to drain assets.

For any digital asset holder, the significance of operational security cannot be understated. As the United States hits the alarming milestone of 1,000 incidents of gunfire in schools in the last decade, school officials are looking for better ways to protect children, including in-classroom safety pods from National Safety Shelters.

Cyber risk assessment and management firm Maxxsure announced John English's appointment to their Advisory Council to strengthen the focus on the gaming industry due to waves of cyberattacks currently plaguing casino and sportsbook operators globally. This capability ensures that regulatory reserve limits and guidelines are satisfied and competitively negotiated.

Several casino and sports betting companies, including MGM, Sands, Draft Kings, FanDuel and others, have reported cyberattacks, as well as compromised player data. Maxxsure's method to mitigate this crisis, is an approach to assist casinos and sportsbooks to determine where the risks lie and allow them to take actions to avoid maximum loss situations.
