DIY Outdoor Pizza Oven

Do-It-Yourself Outdoor Pizza Oven Station

BEATRICE, Neb. - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

As winter sets in, now is a great time to tackle projects that will make backyard living better next season. For many, no backyard party is complete without pizza, fresh out of the oven. And while traditional grills are notoriously poor pizza ovens, it's relatively easy to build an outdoor pizza station. With that in mind, Exmark has partnered with landscape designer Doug Scott on a new Exmark Original Series, Done-In-A-Weekend Projects video, "How to Build a DIY Outdoor Pizza Station."

In the video, Scott gives homeowners guided instruction on the build process, and full build instructions are available for free download as well.

Tools required for the build include a miter saw, a screwdriver or drill-driver and appropriate bits, a tape measure and marking pencil, as well as eye and ear protection for each worker. An assortment of 1 1/4-inch, 1 5/8-inch, and 2-inch screws are also required to assemble the outdoor pizza station.

The outdoor pizza station is built from a variety of pre-cut lumber, including 1x2-inch, 1x4-inch, 2x2-inch, and 2x6-inch boards. Specific quantities and lengths of each board type are included in the instructions, and any lumber yard and most home improvement stores can cut the boards to the needed lengths.

Once materials have been purchased, the build process is very straightforward. The frame of the pizza station gets built first, then the bottom shelf is assembled within the frame. The top is assembled next, with the back being attached and assembled to complete the stand itself. Finally, the oven platform is constructed, which is where the oven will sit.

All that's left is to set up the pizza oven and start cooking up unforgettable memories in the backyard.

View this and each of the new Exmark Done-In-A-Weekend Series videos on the Exmark Backyard Life site. There, additional Backyard Life content can be found, including Backyard Smart, Dream Yards, Living Rural, and Prime Cuts, as well as backyard living content from a wide range of influencers.

Home Health Lab Startup Bisu Collaborates With Polaris Dawn to Develop New Ways to Monitor Astronaut Health
Bisu's "lab-on-a-chip" urine and saliva analyzer is intended for both consumer and astronaut use.

TOKYO - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Traveling in space leads to bone loss, muscle loss, and an increased risk of kidney stone formation, often starting within the first 24 hours of spaceflight as calcium levels in bone and tissue decrease and are expelled in urine. A new research experiment, selected for inclusion in the upcoming Polaris Dawn spaceflight mission, aims to show if monitoring the first urine sample in the morning could provide a simple way to track astronaut health in space. If successful, the research will provide a pathway to use compact, new inflight monitoring techniques. The day's first urine sample typically has the highest urine calcium levels in the day and taking measurements from this sample might offer a workable way to assess in-flight bone loss and kidney stone risk. As both space accessibility and long-duration human spaceflights increase, keeping crews healthy by providing personalized, targeted countermeasures will be essential. This will require small, easy-to-use, low-power devices that can provide actionable information using easily obtainable samples of urine or saliva, such as a first-morning void.

Bisu is a startup that helps people improve their health and fitness through lab-grade testing at home. Working with former astronaut Jay Buckey, MD, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Space Medicine Innovations Lab at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, Bisu will support the post-flight analysis of first-morning void urine samples gathered from the Polaris Dawn crew to assess the effect of spaceflight on markers of bone loss, muscle loss, and kidney stone risk. If successful, this research could pave the way for inflight monitoring with new technologies, such as the microfluidic urine and saliva analyzer Bisu has developed. Because weightlessness affects people differently, this kind of in-flight monitoring could provide targeted countermeasures.

"People will be spending longer times in space, and they may not be able to do the extensive countermeasure programs currently used on the space station," says Prof. Jay Buckey. "We need simple ways to monitor people while they are in space so that the countermeasure program can be targeted to each person's individual needs. This research puts us on the path toward that."

"We're delighted to be working with Polaris Dawn and Prof. Buckey on this pioneering research," says Daniel Maggs, co-founder & CEO at Bisu. "This research reflects Bisu's commitment to advancing human health by making valuable health data accessible to all - whether on Earth or in space."

About Polaris Dawn

Polaris Dawn is the first of the Polaris Program's three human spaceflight missions. SpaceX is targeting no earlier than March 2023 for Falcon 9's launch of Dragon and the Polaris Dawn crew from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Polaris Dawn endeavors to reach the highest Earth orbit ever flown, attempt the first-ever commercial spacewalk, conduct extensive research to further our understanding of human health on Earth and during future long-duration spaceflights, and test Starlink's laser-based communications in space. Thynk Health and Riverian Partner to Fight Lung Cancer With Advanced AI and Deep Learning Technologies

Thynk Health and Riverian Partner to Fight Lung Cancer With Advanced AI and Deep Learning Technologies
LEXINGTON, Ky. - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Thynk Health and Riverain, pioneers in the healthcare artificial intelligence space, have announced a partnership between their platforms to fight lung cancer with the world's most advanced technologies. Combining all the latest technologies, including CAD, Machine Learning, clinical NLP, recurrent neural networks, and artificial intelligence, this partnership offers an unprecedented opportunity for lung cancer screening and pulmonary nodule management.

Thynk Health is the complete cancer screening and incidental finding management solution. Utilizing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms, Thynk Health seamlessly integrates with EHRs and health systems to mine structured and unstructured data, organizing it in powerful, simple dashboards. With advanced automation and analytics, healthcare systems are empowering their cancer screening programs with actionable intelligence to be more effective and efficient.

"Radiologists are experiencing AI as an adjunctive tool, rather than the job-stealing technology previously warned by futuristic writers," said Joey Bargo, Thynk Health Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer. "This is evident in the ability to have a second set of eyes when looking for small or hilar region pulmonary nodules. When utilized in combination with advanced deep learning for language abstraction from reporting, AI technology is even more effective, allowing for radiologists to use traditional workflows, rather than archaic and cumbersome second workstation solutions."

Riverain Technologies is on a mission to revolutionize radiology by changing one in three delayed cardio-thoracic disease diagnoses to none in three. Using unique suppression technology, the ClearRead imaging interpretation solutions with Clear Visual Intelligence™ (CVI™) create an unobstructed view within the existing workflow so radiologists can focus on what matters to detect, precisely characterize, and report findings. Imaging interpretation with CVI™ moves radiologists beyond standard background-impaired imaging interpretation to allow focus on the actionable data to correctly and quickly detect cardio-thoracic diseases with newfound Certainty of Search™.

"Radiology is the gateway to finding, assessing, and reporting the course of many diseases, especially lung cancer, including evaluating the response to treatment. Yet the exploding volume and complexity of imaging interpretation, especially in chest CT scans, is creating a crisis for both patients and radiologists that must be addressed—now," said Steve Worrell, Riverain CEO. "This partnership will bring cutting-edge solutions to improve nodule detection and increase efficiencies in nodule management."

"The power of Thynk Health's AI-driven analytics abstracted from healthcare EHRs combined with Riverain's ClearRead suite significantly improves the ability to detect lung disease and changes the lives of patients, creating a comprehensive solution for lung cancer screening and pulmonary nodule management that offers healthcare systems a new level of patient care and growth and provides a new level of automation in the lung nodule diagnostic process," said Jeff Timbrook, Thynk Health CEO.

Lung Cancer continues to be the leading cause of cancer death among men and women, making up almost 25 percent of all cancer deaths (more than colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined). In 2022 the American Cancer Society estimates 236,740 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed, and 130,180 deaths from lung cancer will occur. Thynk Health and Riverain's partnership opens a new level of opportunity for healthcare systems to identify at-risk populations and diagnose and treat those populations when in early stages, significantly increasing survival rates. With advanced technology companies, healthcare systems, and communities partnering together, we can and we will win the fight against lung cancer.

About

The Thynk Health platform optimizes data-driven workflows and provides operational and clinical analytics for lung cancer screening programs and other quality initiatives. Thynk Health's Lung Module automatically identifies patients at risk for lung cancer, automates patient data and ACR submission, automates patient communications, automates tracking of incidental findings, engages providers, provides actionable LCS reports, and offers pulmonary nodule tracking. Thynk Health is EHR agnostic and integrates with existing hospital systems (EHR, DICOM, PACS, scheduling, and more). Learn more at thynkhealth.com

The Riverain ClearRead solution eliminates obstructions that often stand in the way of accurately and efficiently detecting disease in thoracic (lung) CT and XR images. Powered by machine learning and advanced modeling, our patented, FDA-cleared, and clinically proven software tools are deployed in the clinic or the cloud and are powered by the most advanced AI methods available to the medical imaging market. Zeto Implements encevis' Seizure Detection and Trending Algorithms

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Zeto, Inc., an innovative EEG brain monitoring company, announced today the integration of FDA cleared seizure detection and trending algorithms developed by encevis, now available as part of the Zeto EEG platform. encevis is powered by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, a renowned research and technology organization in Europe, and their EEG analysis software is widely utilized and peer reviewed by physicians across the world.

These new tools will help Zeto's customers speed up EEG reviews. The trending module graphically reports several hours of EEG into a simple display to allow rapid assessment of brain states. The seizure detection component offers high sensitivity with low false alarm rates, matching and in parts surpassing industry benchmarks. Proven by three independent clinical publications, and harvesting the power of AI and deep learning, the software provides a detailed overview of seizures and suspicious EEG activity.

"According to current studies, 18% of critically ill patients with serious brain diseases suffer from unrecognized non-convulsive epileptic seizures, frequently leading to neurological disabilities. The joint efforts of Zeto and encevis will make EEG faster to read by automatically detecting and orienting the reader to abnormalities. Seizures will be automatically detected and marked in the EEG for review. Near real-time detection notifies medical staff about patients with ongoing clinical seizures," said Dr. Tilmann Kluge, head of Medical Signal Analysis of AIT.

"We are excited to integrate encevis' seizure detection and trending tools into our platform. Collaborative projects such as this ensure a seamless user experience and enable healthcare providers to offer the best care to their patients at an affordable price," said Florian Strelzyk, Chief Sales Officer at Zeto.

Kelly Mahler, OTD, OTR/L, Releases New Big Book of Interoception Games
LANCASTER, Pa. - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Kelly Mahler, OTD, OTR/L, a Pennsylvania-based Occupational Therapist and author, is excited to announce the release of her new interoception book and instructional resource, The Big Book of Interoception Games.

The Big Book of Interoception Games is a compilation of 53 fun and playful activities for learners of all ages. The book focuses on the core concept of interoception—one of the hottest topics in neuroscience—and the sense that allows us to notice and understand internal body signals and emotions. This book and its activities invite learners to notice mindfully how their body feels during playful activities and are of particular interest to educators, therapists, and parents, especially of learners with so-called 'challenging behaviors' or diagnoses such as autism, anxiety, trauma or ADHD. Each game provides several variations—making for hundreds of playful interoception learning ideas. The interoception book can be a positive practice strategy to accompany any of Kelly Mahler's interoception books and resources; however, it is also a productive standalone resource.

"I'm so excited to share my discoveries about interoception with professionals and families. Interoception, the sense that helps us feel our feels and manage them, can affect the way we view what is often called 'challenging, disruptive or purposeful' behavior," says Mahler. She continues, "I want to inspire people to think differently and discover the root cause of the behaviors we may observe. Learn how to dig deep. Ask the right questions. Implement an interoception-based approach to behavior and self-regulation. I believe this can provide more effective, meaningful and affirming supports so our clients, students, and loved ones can flourish."

Kelly uses interoception research to discover more about the diversity of the human experience and applies this understanding to help people thrive in their daily lives. In addition to directly supporting clients and their families, Kelly is actively involved in various interoception research projects, serving in different roles, including principal investigator, graduate research mentor, dissertation chair, and content expert consultant. She enjoys collaborating with a variety of established and up-and-coming researchers to explore numerous topics. If you are interested in interviewing Kelly regarding her interoception research and client experiences, visit kelly-mahler.com/kellys-research.

About Kelly Mahler

Kelly Mahler, OTD, OTR/L, earned a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Misericordia University, Dallas, PA. AI-Fueled Endoscopy Capture and Clinical Trials Platform, Virgo Surgical Video Solutions, Receives Support From American Gastroenterological Association Venture Fund
Virgo is first investment for new GI fund.

CARLSBAD, Calif. - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Virgo Surgical Video Solutions ("Virgo") today announced that the company received an investment from the American Gastroenterological Association ("AGA"), AGA's new venture capital fund, GI Opportunity Fund 1.

"While AGA has long guided innovators who share our goal of improving digestive healthcare, we have doubled down on this commitment by establishing the GI Innovation Fund. The fund's first investment - Virgo - exemplifies our pursuit of improved clinical care," says Lawrence Kosinski, MD, AGAF, AGA Governing Board Councilor for Development and Growth. "Through our venture fund, gastroenterologists can join AGA to invest in fast-growing, early-stage companies that are transforming care for patients with digestive disease."

Virgo provides gastroenterologists, clinical trial sponsors, and trial site investigators with AI-fueled, always-on endoscopic procedure recording and patient recruitment tools for clinical trials in gastroenterology, starting with inflammatory bowel disease clinical trials.

"Virgo would not be where it is today without the support of the AGA, dating back to our initial pitch at the AGA Tech Summit's Shark Tank competition in 2018," said Matt Schwartz, Virgo co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. "Virgo is proud to have the support of the AGA, and this investment will help accelerate Virgo's mission to improve patient outcomes and clinical workflows by developing automation and AI tools for endoscopy."

"As its partner in the GI Opportunity Fund, Varia shares the AGA's passion of supporting exciting innovations that benefit the GI field. Our partnership is designed, however, to do more than that. We firmly believe that this fund can also create an unusual opportunity for members interested in venture capital investing at an unusually low entry point. We believe we can accomplish these multiple objectives by making investments in companies like Virgo Surgical Video Solutions. Its video capture, management, and artificial intelligence analysis technology platform holds great promise for advancing the field of endoscopic medicine," said Scott Friedman, Varia Ventures co-founder and managing partner.

More information about the AGA's GI Opportunity Fund 1 is available at https://againvest.varia.com/.

SPOT Imaging Announces Cost-Saving Sample Tracking, Storage and Management Solutions

SPOT Imaging Announces Cost-Saving Sample Tracking, Storage and Management Solutions
New suite of time-saving products address pathology, cytology and histology laboratory staffing shortages and storage inefficiencies.

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

SPOT Imaging proudly announces a new generation of sample-tracking and administration tools designed specifically to address today's staffing shortages and storage accuracy concerns. BlocDoc™, PathTracker™ and PathArchiv™ operate as an integrated system - or separately within existing lab systems - to significantly transform the efficiency and precision of the sample-tracking process.

Created in association with leading pathologists, SPOT Imaging's new product suite delivers cost savings and superior accuracy. Pathology, cytology and histology laboratories no longer need extensive teams of experienced laboratory technicians for sample handling.

BlocDoc™ turns physical paraffin blocks into digital assets for quick electronic sharing and tracking instead of a technician physically addressing and shipping samples. The digital assets make questions of tissue completeness trivial and routine rather than a labor-intensive, exceptional request, meeting the intent of the CAP Accreditation Committee when they added this requirement to the laboratory accreditation checklist.

PathTracker™ bulk scans cassette and slide transport containers, across the histology process, ensuring the timely recovery of lost or late samples. Time-consuming and error-prone hand scanning is replaced with a simple image and electronic scan of the full container that is 8-18 times faster than hand scanning. Captured barcodes are automatically uploaded to an LIS.

PathArchiv™, a file room sample management system, virtually eliminates lost samples and saves 4-8 times the full-time equivalent technician resource, providing 30% greater storage density while fitting directly on most existing shelving units. When samples are loaned, PathArchiv™ automatically tracks the destination and return due date. Its non-sequential workflow filing methodology eliminates refiling costs.

"SPOT Imaging provides state-of-the-art technology to solve the most pressing problems administrators and pathologists face today: too few technicians to handle an overabundance of samples and data," states Philip Merlo, Vice President, SPOT Imaging. "Each of our new products will work with existing laboratory computing and storage infrastructure. Our collaboration with pathologists delivers products that meet real-world challenges in cost-effective and time-efficient ways."

On-site demonstrations of BlocDoc™, PathTracker™ and PathArchiv™ are available to laboratories endeavoring to achieve substantial cost-savings and greater tracking accuracy.

About SPOT Imaging

SPOT Imaging provides end-to-end imaging solutions specifically designed for histology, cytology and pathology laboratories. The company's technologies substantially improve workflow efficiencies while increasing sample accuracy through the automated digitization of sample assets that provides the foundation for virtual sharing and tracking across the laboratory workflow and network user base.

Featuring proprietary designs and in-house manufacturing, SPOT Imaging is recognized worldwide for the ease of use, excellent performance and high reliability of its imaging products and end-to-end solutions. SPOT Imaging digital cameras and extended systems are integral to the operations of some of the most prestigious medical institutions, including Duke University, the University of Michigan, Stanford University, the Cleveland Clinic and the Mayo Clinic. New North Las Vegas Mayor Breaks Glass Ceiling as First Black Mayor in the State

LAS VEGAS - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

The City of North Las Vegas' new Mayor, Pamela Goynes-Brown, officially takes office today, becoming the first black Mayor in Nevada history. Goynes-Brown, a longtime educator turned public servant, previously served as Councilwoman of North Las Vegas' Ward 2 and was the first female African American Councilwoman in her previous role. She also was the first female African American Mayor Pro-Tempore, having served in that role twice. Goynes-Brown's recent election as Mayor continues her streak of breaking barriers.

After referencing records via the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Public Policy, the UNLV Oral History Research Center and relevant municipal leadership organizations, Goynes-Brown's victory sets a new precedent in Nevada's 158-year history and the approximately 400 mayoral elections of the State's 19 incorporated cities over that time.

Goynes-Brown leads the charge for the City of North Las Vegas, the third-largest municipality in Nevada and one of the largest minority-majority cities in America.

"Why has it taken so long?" Mayor Goynes-Brown asked. "I don't know, but I know it is happening right now and that is what's important — I'm so proud that the City of North Las Vegas has once again been the leader in making huge positive strides for our state and residents.

"It is an incredible honor to serve the constituents of the City of North Las Vegas, one of the most diverse cities in America," Goynes-Brown continued. "To set the stage for young boys and girls in North Las Vegas, to see themselves represented from the Mayor's seat to our Executive offices to the Team Members who serve our community each day, I believe the City of North Las Vegas embodies the beautifully diverse future of this country and I am honored to serve as Mayor."

The City of North Las Vegas was the first municipality in the state to formally recognize June 19 as the Juneteenth holiday when the City Council passed Resolution 2665 in June 2021. That October, the North Las Vegas City Council approved updated contracts with employee bargaining units to add Juneteenth as an official City holiday and close City facilities in recognition. The City of North Las Vegas currently has a bill at the State Legislature proposing to make Juneteenth a State Holiday, as well as a bill proposing to allow people who are legally authorized to work in the United States to become peace officers, removing the requirement that they be a U.S. citizen.

"We must continue to call out institutional racism. We must continue to work to bring equity to all aspects of government. I look forward to working to continue to make strides for our community and for the people of color who call it home," said Mayor Goynes-Brown. "As I take office, the City of North Las Vegas will continue to advocate and prioritize our diverse residents and their needs."
