Klean Industries Selects Chemex Global to Support the Rollout of a Flagship Tyre Pyrolysis Project

Klean Industries Selects Chemex Global to Support the Rollout of a Flagship Tyre Pyrolysis Project
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Klean Industries Inc. ("Klean"), a leading tire pyrolysis equipment manufacturer and project developer, is pleased to announce it has selected Chemex Global, LLC, a subsidiary of The Shaw Group, LLC, to engineer, procure and fabricate Klean's 20,000 MT hydrocarbon upgrading system for its Boardman, Oregon, project. Both parties intend to execute the design-build contract, which includes process and schedule guarantees in the first quarter of 2023.

The Boardman facility will convert end-of-life-tires (ELTs) otherwise destined for landfill or incineration into highly valuable products such as a recovered carbon black (rCB) used as a replacement for new carbon blacks and recovered fuel oil (rFO) that is blended with Carbon Black Oil (CBO) to be used in the creation of new virgin biobased carbon blacks. This is a significant advancement in developing circularity within both the carbon black and tire manufacturing industries while also meeting environmental, social, governance (ESG) mandates. Additional attributes include notable reductions in carbon emissions while also addressing significant improvement in the production of virgin carbon blacks because the rFO contains a biobased content of approximately 35%-40%, which is a result of natural rubber found in scrap tires.

Chemex Global will provide a modular back-end pyrolysis oil condensing and fractionation system, and control systems. This system includes the facilitation of the integration of its technology and equipment into the overall facility for the conversion of the recovered pyrolysis oil. The pyrolysis oil is condensed and then split into two streams of which approximately 85% is a hydrocarbon product of similar quality to VLSFO 1% and 15% is a naphtha-like product. The lighter naphtha-like product is destined for the California marketplace for applications that meet the Low Carbon Fuels Standard (LCFS) for the creation of low-carbon intensity road fuels, diesel, and other valuable products. Further, Chemex Global will fully commission the oil upgrading unit.

The fabrication of the modular oil upgrading system will be completed by Chemex Global's parent company The Shaw Group at its shops across the United States, including its state-of-the-art 440,000-square-foot module facility in Lake Charles and pipe fabrication facilities in Walker, Louisiana, and El Dorado, Arkansas.

"It's taken some time to find the right partners for Klean's projects that have the depth of experience needed for the timely rollout of our integrated resource recovery projects. Our projects are capital-intensive and require cost-effective and highly technical solutions that can deliver specified output products on a guaranteed basis. With +40 more projects under development, we believe Chemex offers the solutions that best fit our timelines and budget and we look for to expanding this relationship to develop more projects together," said Jesse Klinkhamer, CEO of Klean Industries Inc.

"Our diverse engineering capabilities combined with world-class fabrication assets enabled us to assess the project and minimize field execution to the greatest extent possible while keeping project development plans on a fixed schedule. We look forward to further expanding our presence in the pyrolysis oil space in particular and the waste-to-energy space in general, where we feel we are quickly establishing a market-leading position because of our ability to provide turnkey execution on a highly accelerated basis," added Matt Rodgers, Chief Commercial Officer, Chemex Global.

New Study Finds 1 in 2 Children and 2 in 3 Women Worldwide Affected by Micronutrient Deficiencies

New Study Finds 1 in 2 Children and 2 in 3 Women Worldwide Affected by Micronutrient Deficiencies
Food systems reform is needed to ensure provision of vitamin and minerals globally.

GENEVA - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Research published today in Lancet Global Health indicates that 1 in 2 preschool-aged children and 2 in 3 women of reproductive age worldwide are affected by vitamin and mineral deficiencies (often referred to as "hidden hunger"). For decades it was widely believed that 2 billion suffer from this hidden hunger. But these new findings on just women and young children—who make up just one-third of the total population worldwide—suggest the number is far larger once all the school-age children, adolescents, men, and older adults excluded from this analysis due to data gaps are included. The research, "Micronutrient deficiencies among preschool-aged children and women of reproductive age worldwide" was a collaborative project led by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), through the USAID Advancing Nutrition project, along with a team of global micronutrient experts, including an Advisory Panel brought together by the Micronutrient Forum. Each step of the analysis was vetted through a formal process and then the paper went through rigorous peer review in a leading global health journal.

Lynnette Neufeld, Director of Food and Nutrition Division at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), said, "Diets that don't provide the right levels of vitamins and minerals can compromise your immune system, impair your cognition and school performance, decrease your work productivity, and may contribute to risks of non-communicable diseases such as heart problems. This is a widespread problem, impacting individuals, families and communities everywhere in the world, although particularly in lower-income countries."

Micronutrient deficiencies are highest in lower-income countries because diets often lack a diversity of nutrient-rich foods and tend to rely on a large share of calories from rice, wheat, maize or similar staple foods. In fact, 9 in 10 women in several countries in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa are deficient. However, deficiencies are surprisingly high even in high-income countries. In the U.S. and the U.K., for example, between one-third and one-half of women of reproductive age are deficient in one or more micronutrients. In high-income countries, this is likely the result of diets high in processed but micronutrient-poor foods rather than reliance on a single staple as in many lower-income countries.

According to Saskia Osendarp, Executive Director, Micronutrient Forum, "There are very clear solutions. We need to ensure everyone has access to a variety of micronutrient-dense foods, including animal-source foods, dark green leafy vegetables and beans, lentils or peas. Food fortification can help make up the difference when healthy diets are unaffordable or accessible. Health programs can provide supplements to those with extra needs, such as pregnant women and malnourished children."

It might sound simple, but realizing these solutions is not easy because our food systems are not fit for purpose, and increasingly less so. These issues have existed for a long time—and urgently need to be addressed. The issues are now exacerbated by the long-term impact of climate change, the lasting damage to supply chains caused by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, and the imminent economic downturn, all coming together to create major challenges.

Many solutions are already available. Accessibility and affordability can be addressed by prioritizing productivity and diversity of a variety of nutritious crops and livestock, developing crops that are more nutritious and drought-resilient ("biofortification"), reducing trade and transportation costs and improving markets. Those in situations of vulnerability often require direct assistance through social protection programmes, such as cash transfers and subsidies for micronutrient-dense foods.

GAIN's Executive Director Lawrence Haddad concluded, "This new paper is a game changer. Hidden hunger is likely to affect nearly half the people on the planet, not a quarter as we had previously and rather complacently assumed. In particular, our failure to nourish the youngest will undermine public health and haunt us socially, economically, environmentally and politically down the generations. All corners of society, led by governments, need to tackle the burden of hidden hunger, via all the channels available. Personally, these findings throw down the gauntlet to GAIN and to all organisations working for a world without malnutrition. We all have to work together and rise to the challenge."

This study was made possible by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The contents are the responsibility of Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID or the United States government.

4 Mistakes to Avoid When Looking for Personal Installment Loans

4 Mistakes to Avoid When Looking for Personal Installment Loans
NEW YORK - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

iQuanti: Installment loans let you borrow money and pay it back with fixed monthly payments. Many people use these to refinance debt, create emergency funds, make large purchases, and other uses. But when you're borrowing money, there are some pitfalls you must avoid. Making these mistakes can be costly in terms of time, money, and stress. This article will dive into four mistakes you should avoid when looking for personal installment loans so you can find the right loan for your needs.

1. Getting a loan from a scammer

Falling for a personal installment loan scam can cost you a lot of money and even lead to identity theft. Fortunately, there are many ways to identify and avoid scammers. For one, you can see if they're licensed in your state. If they have no website or their license isn't listed, you can contact your state's relevant regulatory department or attorney general to find out for sure.

Additionally, look at the Better Business Bureau. The BBB gives lenders a grade from A+ to F and lets customers leave reviews and complaints. Similarly, look at review sites like TrustPilot. Low ratings with a lot of reviews may signal a scam.

2. Not looking at your credit score

Your credit score plays a large role in getting installment loans from lenders that check credit. Check on your credit score before applying so you know what types of loan terms you may qualify for. To do this, request your annual free copy of your credit report from each credit bureau. While you check over your report, look for errors. If you find any, dispute them to wipe them off the report. This could give you a credit boost to help you get better loans.

3. Not budgeting for repayment

Once you take out that loan, you must be able to make each monthly payment. If you miss or are late on a payment, you may owe late fees and other penalties. You could also suffer credit damage. Stay delinquent for too long, and the lender could sell your debt to collections agencies. This can further harm your score, and you may have to deal with collections calls.

So, you should look at your monthly budget and make sure you have money to repay the loan. If not, you can cut expenses until you have enough or consider a smaller loan or longer-term length to lower the monthly payment.

4. Failing to shop around

Shopping around for multiple offers helps you find a great rate. Different lenders may offer different rates and loan amounts. Plus, some may offer same-day funding, whereas others may only offer next-day funding.

The bottom line

These days, getting a personal installment loan is simpler, thanks to online applications and faster funding. But there are still mistakes to watch out for. Make sure you check your credit score and budget for repayment before starting the process. Once you're ready, shop around for multiple offers. Then, check each lender's legitimacy by looking up their licensing information and checking out the BBB and other review sites. Avoiding these mistakes will help you get the funds you need while minimizing unnecessary stress and expenses.

Adaptogenic mushrooms, or "functional" mushrooms, are considered superfoods linked to improving daily function with vitamins, fibers, and antioxidants. After years of operating in the health and wellness space, we've found that functional mushrooms are the answer. Today, unlocking your 'True Me' embodies that change we need in more than just a product, but a lifestyle," says Garrison, "We wanted to create gummy nootropics that didn't replace coffee or energy drinks, but simply made your daily routine easier, consistent, and more productive. Randy Foye & Ashley Howard Lead Collective to Maximize NIL Endorsement Opportunities and Help Student-Athletes Grow Their Brands

PHILADELPHIA - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Former members of the Villanova Wildcats family and community leaders in the Philadelphia area have partnered with Blueprint Sports, the industry leader in full-service Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collectives, to unveil Friends of Nova — the first NIL collective supporting men's basketball student-athletes at Villanova University. As one of the nation's premier basketball programs, the Villanova Wildcats have won the NCAA D-1 National Championships three times, most recently in 2016 and 2018.

Friends of Nova is spearheaded by Randy Foye and Ashley Howard, two legacy members and well-known figures of the Villanova men's basketball family. Both having deep ties to Villanova University's athletics program, Howard and Foye will serve as co-executive directors of the Friends of Nova collective. Howard previously served as the assistant coach for Villanova University's men's basketball team from 2013 to 2018 under then-Head Coach Jay Wright. Foye played on Villanova University's men's basketball team from 2002 to 2006, before being drafted in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft and beginning his professional basketball career.

"Playing basketball at Villanova University was the honor of a lifetime and this opportunity to kick off Friends of Nova really means a lot to me," said Foye. "We are thrilled to give back and work hand in hand with supporters, fans, community members and alumni to build something meaningful and open doors to new possibilities for future generations of student-athletes."

Local and national businesses, as well as community supporters, have multiple options to engage with Villanova student-athletes. Friends of Nova builds partnerships between businesses, brands, and student-athletes for marketing opportunities, including online influencer campaigns, local appearances, youth sports coaching, speaking engagements, and more. Additionally, tax-deductible contributions can also be made through the BPS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) partner organization formed to educate, encourage, and assist student-athletes in their efforts to engage with the local community through charitable causes.

"Friends of Nova will allow us to help provide opportunities for student-athletes to not only capitalize on their name, image and likeness, but connect with their community and learn about financial literacy," said Howard. "I look forward to spearheading this initiative alongside Randy to help support our Wildcat family and help the Villanova community be a part of something bigger."

Asian and Pacific Islander Organizations Nationwide Launch ‘Civic Action Week’ Heading Into 2022 Midterms

Asian and Pacific Islander Civic Action Week Partners

Image features logos of nonprofit organizations participating in Asian and Pacific Islander Civic Action Week (Oct. 11-14, 2022).

NEW YORK - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

From Oct. 11-14, 2022, over a dozen Asian and Pacific Islander (API) nonprofits across the country are launching Civic Action Week, organized by Gold House, to encourage voting, philanthropy, and vaccines. The week will highlight national and local resources heading into midterm elections and flu season, from the Filipino Voter Empowerment Project's PSA starring Timothy Granaderos to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' COVID-19 education campaign We Can Do This

"The pandemic has been particularly hard on many Asians and Pacific Islanders facing increasing socioeconomic challenges. We must mobilize to protect our rights and our health," said Jeremy Tran, COO of Gold House, one of the nonprofits leading Civic Action Week.

Indeed, the collective power of APIs should not be overlooked. Asian American voter turnout surged by 47% nationally and across all presidential battleground states in 2020, becoming the margin of victory in key states like Georgia. Asian Americans also assumed some of the highest national and local offices for the first time — from U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris to Mayors Michelle Wu (Boston), Aftab Pureval (Cincinnati), and Bruce Harrell (Seattle).

These victories did not come easily, however.

Barriers to voting access continue to exist in critical states like Texas, where a recent poll by Asian Texans for Justice showed that 64% of the API electorate are eager to vote.

"South Asians in Texas are up against major obstacles at the ballot box," warns Krisan Swaminathan, Chair of SAAVETX. "Voter suppression laws ensnare our people in antiquated voter registration regulations, complicated ballot access, and stringent voter identification requirements. This directly impacts immigrant communities."

Many API communities have also been facing limited healthcare and financial resources, despite increasing challenges in recent years.

"With the prevalence of chronic illnesses among Pacific Islanders and likeliness of our communities living in multi-family and multi-generational households, prioritizing health in our community today is key to ensuring we aren't one of the hardest hit communities in the next health crisis," Karla Thomas, Deputy Director of EPIC, explains.

But with less than 1% of philanthropic dollars going to API nonprofits, these organizations are working together to empower their communities through creative ways like Civic Action Week.

"Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have faced many challenges over the past few years. But as a community, we did not stay silent," says Kevin Hirano, Director of Operations and Development of APIAVote. "The change we want and need can only happen when we vote and take others with us to the polls."

Free of Fear Full of Joy First Podcast Episode Released
Podcast Will Focus on Empowering Women Across Generations

LOS ANGELES - October 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

The first episode of Free of Fear Full of Joy, a girl empowerment podcast, has been released. The multigenerational/interracial podcast, hosted by Johari Williams and Sarah Manuel, will focus on "strong opinions and good intentions."

Through shared stories of loss and trauma, the podcast is designed to take those potentially negative experiences and turn them into motivational podcasts for women and others. Through this process, the hosts hope to help listeners to become more optimistic, to not allow loss and trauma to dictate their lives.

The title of the podcast is a reference to a mantra Johari Williams created during a particularly challenging time. It refers to specific mantras she created: "First, I will be fearless in my communication. Second, I will be consistent in my communication. Third, I will be free of fear in my decisions. Fourth, I will find joy in my communication, consistency, and decisions."

"We want to be encouraging and positive. Even though Sarah is 37 and I'm a bit older, we've found so many commonalities. We've found that we both have this desire to want to help people, and not necessarily to tell them what to do. We can provide experience in what we've gone through. Then, we can help folks to move forward in their own way, if not necessarily in our own way. This is a podcast about confronting and dealing with bad situations for women who are going through it from women who have gotten through it. We really enjoy this life, and look forward to sharing words of encouragement, wisdom, and even a little silliness. Well, a lot of silliness," said Johari Williams, co-host of Free of Fear Full of Joy.

The podcast is available for download from the Free of Fear Full of Joy website but can also be found on Spotify, Pandora, Stitcher, and elsewhere. Currently, they are working on new episodes.
