Arrow in the Head shares the EXCLUSIVE first look at images from the Snow White horror film The 7 Dwarves!

Putting a horror twist on popular children’s story characters who are in the public domain has become a popular trend these days. Multiple Mickey Mouse horror films are making their way out into the world since the earliest Mickey cartoons are now public domain, filmmakers are working on horror versions of Goldilocks, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, and a whole cinematic universe is being built out of horror movies based on the likes of Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Peter Pan, and others. Last month, we learned that a movie called The 7 Dwarves, which puts a terrifying twist on the story of Snow White, is in the works and scheduled for release in March of 2025. Now we’ve gotten our hands on a pair of first look images from The 7 Dwarves, and you can check those out at the bottom of this article!

Promising a spine-chilling ride that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats, The 7 Dwarves has the following synopsis: In The 7 Dwarves, Snow White narrowly escapes the clutches of the evil witch, only to find herself lost in the eerie depths of the dark forest. But her nightmare is far from over. She soon becomes the prey of a sadistic group of dwarves (Cranky, Jolly, Drowsy, Meek, Snuffy, Wheezy, Chief, and Ditzy). Far from being her protectors, these sadistic dwarves hunt her relentlessly, forcing Snow White to fight for survival. As she outwits and eliminates each dwarf one by one, the tension rises to a blood-soaked climax in this spine-chilling horror reimagining.

Colin Patrick Ryan is directing the film from a script by producer Chris Hoyt and executive producer Galen Christy. A press release notes, “Combining suspense, horror, and a reimagined take on a familiar tale, The 7 Dwarves promises to captivate horror fans and fairytale enthusiasts alike.” Christy adds, “We’re thrilled to bring audiences a bold, new vision of Snow White like they’ve never seen before. By turning this beloved tale into a nightmarish
survival story, fans of the original will be captivated by the unexpected twists and turns that horror lovers will be talking about for years to come!“

Ryan provided the following statement: “We wanted to take a familiar story and push it to a dark, unexpected place. This isn’t your childhood fairytale. The 7 Dwarves is full of brutal action, psychological horror, and twists that will shock even the most seasoned horror fans.“

The 7 Dwarves is being produced by CTRL+N and Octane MultiMedia, and will star newcomer Lia Ryan in the role of Snow White. Hoyt is producing the film with Josh McKamie, Colin Stein, and Andy Swanson.

The latest teaser poster for Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey is nightmare fuel for any horror fan with Pithecophobia.

Crank your organ grinder (no, that’s not a euphemism) and prepare for February to get your heart pumping harder than trying to decide what to buy your partner for Valentine’s Day because Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey teaser poster is here. Perkins, who delivered one of this year’s best thrillers with Longlegs, is adapting the short story from Stephen King for screens, with James Wan and Michael Clear along for the terrifying ride. The Monkey teaser poster follows August’s trailer tease for the upcoming horror movie featuring a wind-up monkey with spiraling eyes and a Cheshire grin.

The Monkey teaser poster is simplistic in design. It shows the sinister monkey smiling in the dark as a beam of light illuminates its blood-red eye. You can almost hear the rat-tat-tat of the monkey’s little drum as he plays a haunted song.

Perkins wrote the screenplay for The Monkey, based on King’s short story. The film tells the following story: When twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths start occurring all around them. The brothers throw the monkey away and move on, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.

James Wan and Michael Clear are producing The Monkey for Atomic Monster, while Jason Cloth and Dave Caplan are producing for C2 Motion Picture Group. Executive producers include Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger of Automatik, Peter Luo and Nancy Xu of Stars Collective, John Friedberg of Black Bear, and Chris Ferguson. Atomic Monster and Stars Collective developed the project, and C2 Motion Picture Group provided the financing.

The Monkey is already getting under my skin. Haunted object horror is one of my favorite sub-genres, and my grandfather once owned a wind-up monkey that looked strikingly like the one in Perkins’ film, so I’m a little freaked out. It’s a shame we must wait until February 21, 2025, to check this one out, but if Longlegs is any indication, it’ll be worth the wait.

Clowntergeist, Bite Night, and Curse of the Nun are now available to watch for free on the JoBlo TV YouTube channel!

Last month, JoBlo Media and Octane Multimedia teamed up to launch a new YouTube channel named JoBlo TV, which hosts multiple feature films to watch for free throughout the week. The genres we’ll be focusing on at JoBlo TV are Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Thrillers – but for the month of October, we’re celebrating Halloween all month long with our JoBlotober event. It’s all horror all the time!

The movies that have been released on JoBlo TV over the last week are the creepy clown movie Clowntergeist, the vampire movie Bite Night, and the supernatural horror film Curse of the Nun – and you can tell from the title what sort of supernatural threat that one deals with.

Directed by Aaron Mirtes, who crafted the script with Brad Belemjian, Clowntergeist has the following synopsis: Emma, a college student with a crippling fear of clowns, must come face to face with her worst fear when an evil spirit in the body of a clown is summoned terrorizing the town she calls home. Mirtes has an acting role in the film alongside Brittany Belland, Burt Culver, Madeleine Heil, Monica Baker, Cait Madry, Sean Patrick Murray, Tom Seidman, Johnjay Fitih, Eric Corbin, Caitlin Rigney, Ella Romero, and Jesse Mendelsohn.

Maria Lee Metheringham directed Bite Night and wrote the screenplay with Will Metheringham. Here’s the synopsis: Haunted Honeymoon meets My Best Friend is a Vampire meets Clue. When three beautiful ladies manage to grab the attention of a group of punks with their enchanting voices. They become the lucky guests or rather victims of the house of Valice. However the tables turn quite suddenly when the ladies realize they are in fact the unfortunate victims of the madness which they themselves created. The Metheringhams also star in the movie alongside Dani Thompson, Rachel Brownstein, Marcella Edgecombe-Craig, Kian Pollard, Ryan-Jay Jones, and George Walker.

Aaron Mirtes wrote and directed Curse of the Nun. The synopsis: Anna Winter, while moving out of her house, encounters the spirit of a deranged nun who wants her to stay in the house so badly, she’s prepared to kill her to make sure she does. Lacy Hartselle, Rae Hunt, Kate Kilcoyne, Alice Raver, Brad Belemjian, Cael Adcock, and Jonathan Everett star, with Michael T. Flynn and Aaron Mirtes showing up as Pizza Man #1 and Pizza Man #2. You may have noticed that Aaron Mirtes directed both Clowntergeist and Curse of the Nun, and those aren’t the only Mirtes movies we’ve shared. Other Mirtes movies on the JoBlo TV channel are American Hunt and Ouija Craft. You can have a Mirtes marathon!

A cute idea that does a good job depicting Pharrell’s outsized influence on pop music, although its novelty eventually wears out.

PLOT: The life of Pharrell Williams, as told through the lens of Lego animation.

REVIEW: Let’s get one thing out of the way first – Morgan Neville’s Piece by Piece would be a conventional music documentary if not for the central conceit: the whole movie is animated in the style of The Lego Movie. It’s an interesting choice which gives Pharrell’s story a glossy twist and likely opens the film up to a much younger audience that would have initially seen a more conventional hip-hop documentary. Indeed, with its PG rating, this is a family-friendly take on the life of perhaps the most influential music producer of his time, although it can’t help but feel like total hagiography at times, with it free of even a whiff of controversy throughout.

To be sure, Pharrell’s rise and fall (and rise again) is free from too much rock star excess, as he never went down that route. Instead, the whole thing feels like kind of a fairy tale, as Pharrell, as part of The Neptunes, rises to become an artist whose stamp is on virtually every pop hit that came out over a good ten-year period in the early 2000s. 

However, if you remove the Lego animation, Piece by Piece isn’t that different from a conventional documentary that might have found its home on HBO. It’s full of talking (Lego) heads, and director Neville manages to nab seemingly everyone Pharrell’s ever worked with, including Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, and many, many more. 

The one aspect of the movie that the Lego animation truly elevates in Piece by Piece is the re-enactments in Lego of Pharrell’s youth and rise to fame, with sequences dramatizing the creation of some of his most iconic tracks, like Snoop’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and more.

Yet, a more unvarnished bio might have dug deeper into some of the conflicts from Pharrell’s career, such as the multi-million dollar “Blurred Lines” lawsuit and the fact that he has a very fraught relationship with his former Neptunes partner Chad Hugo (although the latter contributes to the film and both speak glowingly about each other – on film at least). In the movie, Pharrell’s only problem is depicted as his tendency to overextend himself, with him getting too caught up in the commerce of music-making rather than the artistic side of it all. It all comes to a happy ending, literally, as his song “Happy” becomes a massive, inescapable hit.

While I found Piece by Piece mostly entertaining, I did find myself wondering who exactly the film was for. Hip-hop fans will maybe be annoyed by the fact that it’s so family-friendly that many of the best songs from Pharrell’s discography, such as N.E.R.D’s “Lapdance,” are way too controversial to be included in a movie animated by LEGO. Also, don’t expect to see P. Diddy show up as a talking Lego head in this – for obvious reasons. 

In the end, Piece by Piece is most suitable for younger audiences, but even if a more unvarnished music doc would have been welcome, the movie still does a good job evoking the fact that Pharrell’s had an outsized influence on modern pop music. Yet, given the animation style, it can’t help but feel a little too much like a novelty. 

Trailer: Terrifier: The ARTcade Game drops Art the Clown into a sidescrolling beat-’em-up that will be released next year

The Terrifier franchise just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Terrifier 3 is now in theatres (you can read our review at THIS LINK) and looking to be a mega-hit (especially when taking its $5 million budget into account), novelizations and a podcast are in the works, Terrifier 4 has already been promised – and now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that a video game is coming in 2025! The game is called Terrifier: The ARTcade Game and it’s described as being “a sidescrolling beat-’em-up that pays tribute to legendary titles like Splatterhouse, Double Dragon, Battletoads, and Streets of Rage.” A trailer has arrived online to give a preview of what a sidescrolling Art the Clown beat-’em-up looks like, and you can watch that in the embed above.

Terrifier: The ARTcade Game will be available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. It offers fans the chance to step into the chaos of Art the Clown’s world with a blood-soaked blend of retro nostalgia and modern multiplayer madness. Players step into the role of Art the Clown as he disrupts movie sets where films about his own gruesome acts are being shot. Instead of letting the cameras capture the staged terror, Art will be tearing through hordes of policemen, firewomen, camera operators, stunt performers, makeup artists, and even unsuspecting civilians. The game captures the essence of the Terrifier films with bright, cartoonish pixel art and fluid animations that vividly depict the gruesome action. Players can also team up with up to 4 players for a chaotic local co-op experience. Work together or against each other in various game modes, each offering its own unique challenges.

Terrifier 3 has the following synopsis: Art the Clown is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve. Here’s some more information: After surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind. But just when they think they’re safe, Art the Clown returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare. The festive season quickly unravels as Art unleashes his twisted brand of terror, proving that no holiday is safe. Speaking with USA Today, writer/director Damien Leone revealed that the new sequel takes place five years after the events of Terrifier 2.

David Howard Thornton reprises the role of Art the Clown, a character who was first introduced in Leone’s 2013 anthology All Hallows’ Eve (although Thornton didn’t start playing him until Terrifier). Also in the cast are Lauren LaVera, who’s back as Terrifier 2 heroine Sienna; Elliot Fullam returns as Sienna’s brother Jonathan, Samantha Scaffidi is returning as Terrifier and Terrifier 2 character Victoria Heyes, and Daniel Roebuck, who has been cast in the role of Santa Claus. FX legend Tom Savini will also be showing up, in an unspecified role. The same goes for Jon Abrahams, Antonella Rose, Krsy Fox, and legendary character actor Clint Howard. Chris Jericho, who had a cameo in Terrifier 2, is back in Terrifier 3 – but he has let everyone know that his appearance in the film won’t last very long.

A new image shows Lindsay Lohan and Jaime Lee Curtis shrieking in disbelief as Freakier Friday gets a release date.

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are getting freaky on Disney’s official social media account this Friday with the release date and first image from Freakier Friday. The sequel to the duo’s 2003 comedy, Freakier Friday, comes to theaters on August 8, 2025. The first image from the anticipated sequel features Lohan and Curtis striking a familiar pose as I assume more body-switch shenanigans occur. Draped in soft, silken pajamas, Lohan and Curtis shriek in horror while making their best Kevin McCallister impression. Talk about a rude awakening!

“It’s our last Monday on the set of #freakierfriday and my heart is so full,” Lohan wrote in an Instagram post on August 19, 2024. “The wonderful cast, crew and everyone from @disneystudios have invested so much time and love into making this movie!”

“It has been a pleasure to work with my dear friend @jamieleecurtis who brings so much joy to our set everyday and she has made this all the more special,” she added.

While the plot for Freakier Friday remains a mystery, it’s likely to feature Anna Coleman (Lohan) and Tess Coleman (Curtis) switching bodies again. However, they’re older now, and they have a different set of challenges ahead. The extended cast includes Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. The Good Place and The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto also stars alongside Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons. Jacinto plays Lohan’s husband in Freakier Friday.

Freakier Friday could be another hit for Lohan, who delighted audiences with Netflix’s romantic comedy Irish Wish earlier this year. The fantasy film features Lohan as Maddie, whose crush gets engaged while she’s stuck being a bridesmaid at his Irish wedding. Hilarity ensues as Maddie tries to navigate her feelings and responsibilities to the betrothed.

You can catch Jamie Lee Curtis in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, starring Pamela Anderson and Dave Bautista. The drama focuses on a seasoned showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. Anderson delivers a stunning performance in the film, with Curtis and Bautista adding more star power to the mix.

PLOT: Art the Clown is set to unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve.

REVIEW: When you think Terrifier, you usually think Art the Clown and a whole lot of murder. And if there’s one thing he’s good at, it’s the red stuff. The one issue I’ve always had with the Terrifier series is that it’s always been lacking in narrative. It mostly felt like moving from kill to kill and trying to soak in the trauma of it all. The second one introduces more background but it still doesn’t feel like a cohesive story. Finally, Terrifier 3 feels like what the series was always meant to be.

Terrifier 3 picks up five years after the events of 2, with the survivors just trying to live their lives. Sienna (Lauren LaVera) still has a lot of PTSD. And it only gets worse when she starts seeing Art the Clown yet again, and townsfolk start getting violently murdered. Her brother Jonathan is much more of a side character this time around (thank god) and we get a whole Christmas theme. Despite this, it doesn’t feel overly holiday-themed, giving enough of its own identity to not solely be grouped as Christmas horror. This can definitely be watched at any time of the year.

The entire opening sequence is ridiculously impressive. It’s pretty much what you would expect from a slasher but it ramps things up so quickly and heads firmly into: “Did they just do that?” territory. It’s one of many iconic scenes that puts shocking kills at the forefront but makes sure not to skimp on the tension. There are great shots that fully utilize the Christmas atmosphere. The acting is much better this time around, with nearly everyone that returns improving their performances. There are some really funny cameos from the world of horror like Clint Howard, Tom Savini, Daniel Roebuck, and Jason Patric.

I was skeptical about Art the Clown being touted as being a “legendary horror villain” with so many limited appearances. But I’m finally starting to see it. David Howard Thornton brings some maniacal joy to Art that can’t be matched. When Art isn’t murdering, I love how much more lore is added to the series. They add just enough to give more of a clear image of his evil, without going overboard with origin. Art becomes more and more intriguing with every entry because there’s still a layer of mystery surrounding him.

One element I loved was the introduction of a girl obsessed with Art and his killings. There’s a great moment where she talks all about Art’s exploits as he gets giddy out in the hallway, hearing all of his achievements. Moments like that help to bring in the fun versus soaking in the traumatic moments. While there is certainly a fair share of brutal scenes, it’s all presented in such an entertaining way. The setup and payoff are expertly handled.

If I had to complain about anything it’s some of the stereotypical story beats. The fact that people still don’t believe Sienna after all she’s gone through results in nothing but frustration and annoyance. But it does make their murders all the more satisfying. There’s also a child character that doesn’t entirely work and I wish was excised completely. And I’d still argue there’s no reason for a film like this to be over 2 hours long. Despite that, Terrifier 3 is a lot of fun. By not selling out to a studio, Damien Leone continues to be absolutely relentless in his pursuit of horrific murder. Art even takes aim at children this time (quite a few times) so this isn’t for the sensitive.  And that’s precisely the kind of franchise the horror world needs right now.

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch finally gets a release date as the studio adds to its 2025 calendar.

Everyone’s favorite furry, blue alien is getting ready to make his live-action debut in theaters when Disney’s Lilo & Stitch arrives on May 23, 2025! Brazenly, that Memorial Day weekend is the same release window for Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible movie with Tom Cruise. While Lilo & Stitch targets parents and children, Mission: Impossible aims to please older male audiences, creating a divided but competitive box office face-off. Disney announced the release date for Lilo & Stitch alongside a date for its Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis-led sequel, Freakier Friday.

Disney‘s live-action Lilo & Stitch stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo in reimagining the mouse-eared studio’s 2002 animated classic. Other players include Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Sydney Agudong, and Chris Sanders as the voice of Stitch. The plot focuses on a young, parentless girl who adopts a “dog” from the local pound, utterly unaware that it’s supposedly a dangerous scientific experiment that’s taken refuge on Earth and is now hiding from its creator and those who see it as a menace.

Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) directs Lilo & Stitch from a script by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, based on a previous draft by Mike Van Wess. Disney announced the studio’s live-action Lilo & Stitch in February 2018, but footage of Stitch bursting through the film’s logo debuted at 2024’s D23 conference. Lilo & Stitch joins the studio’s long list of live-action remakes after adaptations like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, Dumbo, Mulan, and The Little Mermaid. Disney won’t stop there, of course. Live-action versions of Bambi, Peter Pan, and Moana are also in the works, with Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui for Moana.

Disney’s Snow White, starring Rachel Zigler as the studio’s first princess, arrives in theaters on March 21, 2025. Gal Gadot also stars as the Evil Queen, with Ansu Kabia as the Hunstman and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan. Reactions to the film’s first trailer have not been kind, with many repulsed by the look of the film’s lovable Dwarves.

In the cinematic battle between the clowns, I doubt many believed that Art would win over Joker. However, Terrifier 3 is shaping up to become a big success, while Joker: Folie à Deux is struggling. The latest installment of Damien Leone’s blood-soaked gore-fest is now playing in theaters and has been receiving rave reviews. There have also been reports of people vomiting during screenings, which is pretty much a seal of approval for a movie like this. Terrifier 3 has already taken in $2.6 million in Thursday night previews, which is all the more impressive when you consider that it cost just $2 million to make.

Leone has already said he’s working on Terrifier 4 (although it may be the end of the franchise), so we haven’t seen the last of Art the Clown.

Our own Tyler Nichols was a big fan of the new sequel, calling it the best of the franchise so far. “The entire opening sequence is ridiculously impressive. Deadpool & Wolverine already holds the record for the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, but it’s broken yet another record just one week after its release on Digital. According to Disney, the film has delivered the highest-selling first week ever for an R-rated film on domestic digital platforms. Disney didn’t release any numbers, but the previous record holder is believed to be John Wick: Chapter 4.

Deadpool & Wolverine remains in the top 10 at the weekly box office, having grossed $1.33 billion worldwide. This places the film just behind Inside Out 2, which has grossed $1.69 billion. Quite a haul for Disney.

Disney has also been setting up an awards push for Deadpool & Wolverine as they are submitting the film for consideration across all the major awards shows, including a potential Oscar for Hugh Jackman.

Taking place six years after the events of the last movie, Deadpool & Wolverine finds Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) toiling away in civilian life with his days as Deadpool behind him. But when his homeworld faces an existential threat, he must suit up once again and convince a reluctant Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to help save his universe. In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the cast also includes Matthew Macfadyen, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Rob Delany, Stefan Kapičić, and more.

Our own Chris Bumbray had a lot of fun with Deadpool & Wolverine, which sounds like a real crowd-pleaser. “Have you ever been to a concert and wished that your favourite band would stop playing their not-as-good new stuff and play the hits? That’s exactly what Marvel is doing with Deadpool & Wolverine,” Bumbray wrote in his review. “After a rough run of movies, with many saying their Phase 5 has been disastrous, this feels like an everything but the kitchen-sink attempt by the company to win back those fans who feel alienated by the new direction the company seemed to be heading in. With this, you have a rock ‘em, sock ‘em thrill ride that delivers fans exactly the movie they wanted to see, with nary a message to be found amidst all the charred, sliced and diced corpses our heroes leave in their wake. It’s glorious fun.” The film will be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray/DVD on October 22nd.
