Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller and star Mads Mikkelsen are now in production on the horror movie Dust Bunny, co-starring Sigourney Weaver
Last November, it was announced that Hannibal TV series creator Bryan Fuller would be re-teaming with Hannibal himself, Mads Mikkelsen, for a family-oriented horror project Dust Bunny. Soon after, we learned that Fuller was also working on a Friday the 13th TV series called Crystal Lake for franchise rights holders Victor Miller and Rob Barsamian (plus Miller’s lawyer Marc Toberoff), A24, and the Peacock streaming service. And while Crystal Lake is currently at a standstill because of the writers strike, the strike hasn’t had any effect on Dust Bunny. Fuller shared a picture of himself and Mikkelsen to celebrate the fact that they’re “back in the saddle” together. You can take a look at the image in the embed at the bottom of this article.
Dust Bunny is currently filming in Budapest, with Fuller directing from his own screenplay. It hasn’t been announced in the trades, but earlier this month Sigourney Weaver told New York Social Diary that she’s in the cast as well. She said, “I’m about to go off to Budapest to do a wonderful small movie called Dust Bunny. I play another person who’s not so nice, opposite Mads Mikkelsen, the brilliant Danish actor (Casino Royale), with a really talented writer/director, Bryan Fuller (Hannibal). And I have really beautiful costumes!“
Fuller is also producing the film with Entertainment One and Thunder Road‘s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. Said to be “a throwback to the family horror films of the ’80s”, Dust Bunny tells the story of an eight-year-old girl who recruits her strange neighbor to hunt and kill the monster living under her bed. The girl says the monster ate her family, and she wants revenge.
Does Dust Bunny sound interesting to you, and are you glad to see Bryan Fuller and Mads Mikkelsen working together again (with Sigourney Weaver in the mix as well)? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.
I’m definitely interested in seeing a throwback to the family horror movies of the ’80s, especially with these names involved. I look forward to seeing how Dust Bunny is going to turn out.
Here’s Fuller and Mikkelsen, reunited:
