Quentin Tarantino slams streaming movies: “It’s almost like they don’t even exist”

Quentin Tarantino slams streaming movies, saying that it’s almost like they don’t even exist in the zeitgeist.

While many directors have embraced the streaming world, it’s safe to say that we won’t see Quentin Tarantino making a movie for Netflix anytime soon.

While speaking with Deadline, Quentin Tarantino took aim at streaming services where it feels like the projects exist to feed the content machine instead of being remembered. “I mean, and I’m not picking on anybody, but apparently for Netflix, Ryan Reynolds has made $50 million on this movie and $50 million on that movie and $50 million on the next movie for them,” Tarantino said. “I don’t know what any of those movies are. I’ve never seen them. Have you? I haven’t ever talked to Ryan Reynolds’ agent, but his agent is like, ‘Well, it cost $50 million.’ Well, good for him that he’s making so much money. But those movies don’t exist in the zeitgeist. It’s almost like they don’t even exist.

Not to continue picking on Ryan Reynolds, but Quentin Tarantino does have a point. Will movies like 6 Underground or Red Notice be remembered as anything other than big-budget misfires?

Quentin Tarantino also spoke about going out on top with his final film, The Movie Critic. “I like the idea of giving it my all for 30 years and then saying, ‘OK, that’s enough.’ And I don’t like working to diminishing returns,” Tarantino said. “And I mean, now is a good time because I mean, what even is a motion picture anyway anymore? Is it just something that they show on Apple? That would be diminishing returns.” That’s part of the reason why Tarantino will likely be doing his last movie with Sony. “I’m probably going to be doing the movie with Sony because they’re the last game in town that is just absolutely, utterly, committed to the theatrical experience,” Tarantino said. “It’s not about feeding their streaming network. They are committed to theatrical experience. They judge success by asses on seats. And they judge success by the movies entering the zeitgeist, not just making a big expensive movie and then putting it on your streaming platform. No one even knows it’s there.

Speaking of The Movie Critic, Quentin Tarantino recently teased that the film is set in 1977 California and “is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.

Do you agree with Quentin Tarantino about streaming movies? What made-for-streaming movies will continue to be remembered years down the road?

The Bay Area is known for its thriving biotech industry, and in Reno, the medical device and technology sectors are booming in part due to having the largest industrial park in the world, which are some of the driving factors behind Eyenovia's expansion plans.

The Redwood City facility, which was announced operational last year, focuses primarily on Optejet® pharmaceutical manufacturing finishing operations, including drug loading, labeling, and packaging prior to distribution. The new Reno facility will focus on device manufacturing and boasts over 10,000 square feet of space to better serve the growing needs of the company.

"We are pleased to continue executing on our manufacturing strategy by expanding our capabilities in Redwood City and Reno," said Michael Rowe, CEO of Eyenovia. "Our new and upgraded facilities will allow us to continue the development of our existing and future products, better serving our licensees and partners and continuing to advance our mission of improving the delivery of topical ophthalmic therapies."

The U.S. culture of innovation, abundance of investment sources and access to capital markets also contribute to a thriving and innovative environment. According to a 2022 report on the US Biotech Industry

The biotech industry employed 2.1 million employees across more than 127,000 U.S.-based organizations in 2021.

Despite the overall economy shedding 1.5% of its job base, the bioscience industry in the U.S. has increased employment by 11% since 2018.

The biotech industry's impact on the U.S. economy amounted to roughly $2.9 trillion in 2021.

In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, Eyenovia's expansion of its U.S. manufacturing facilities is a clear sign of the company's commitment to being a technology leader in the medical industry.

A Recent Survey Reveals That Customers Love Interacting With Inspirata’s Products and Team

A Recent Survey Reveals That Customers Love Interacting With Inspirata’s Products and Team

Oncology informatics company Inspirata recently reached out to several hundred customer sites with an invitation to participate in a Customer Satisfaction survey. The company collected more than 60 responses, representing healthcare organizations varying in size, geography, and the Inspirata product they have been using.

The survey results reveal a strikingly high percentage of Inspirata customers (92%) who express strong overall satisfaction. Putting this in terms of a well-understood and standardized metric, the company's net promoter score (NPS) stands at 56, which places Inspirata in the 100th percentile of the software industry, according to benchmarks on Delighted.com (a website run by Qualtrics, an industry-leader in market research technology).

"We are delighted to see such a level of enthusiasm among our customers as we recognize how high an NPS of 56 compares to mainstay brands in healthcare technology. According to recent publicly available data, IQVIA has an NPS of 28, while Epic's NPS is 30. It is very exciting to see Inspirata comparing favorably against some of the largest players in the industry," said Emil Mladenov, VP of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships at Inspirata.

The high ratings can be attributed to customers' strong appreciation of both Inspirata's products and the support the Inspirata team is providing when needed.

On the product side, customers report their teams are experiencing average productivity gains between 45% and 50% from using Inspirata products. Nine out of 10 customers are satisfied with product stability.

"Inspirata's products are deeply rooted in AI and NLP technology that the company has been developing in collaboration with the NCI's SEER program and hundreds of healthcare institutions over two decades. Many other vendors offering AI or NLP still struggle with accuracy and reliability. This is why we are extremely proud to see less than 2% of our customers expressing concerns with the accuracy of our technology. Knowing that our existing customers are getting the results they expect gives us strong confidence when we speak to new customers," said Jesse Turner, VP of Sales at Inspirata.

"While very much pleased to see these results, my team and I are not surprised that customers recognize the accuracy and stability of our technology," said George Cernile, VP of AI and NLP Technology at Inspirata. "These results align closely with the Quality Control (QC) studies that we periodically do with our customers. For example, since the beginning of 2020, over more than 40 QC studies, we see sensitivity of 99% and specificity of 98%, with very little variation - only within several percentage points - across the various sites where our products are installed. That demonstrates successfully scaling the technology across different systems and physicians, which can be a significant challenge for most AI and NLP solutions."

On the customer support side, 96% of customers who had needed help are satisfied with the services provided by the Inspirata team. This is further evidenced by extremely positive quotes provided by survey respondents, such as the following two examples:

  • "I love the level of customer service that Inspirata provides." - A verbatim quote from a user at a Georgia-based medical center.
  • "The customer service has been top notch every time I have needed to contact them." - a verbatim quote from a user at a university hospital in New Jersey.

"We strive for excellence in every single interaction we have with our customers," said Laure Tessier-Delivuk, VP of Operations at Inspirata. "What we see in the Customer Satisfaction survey correlates very well with the feedback we collect after closing every single support ticket. Over the past two years, we've maintained a 4.9 out of 5 for overall level of satisfaction related to how we handle customer requests."

Inspirata has also leveraged the data from the Customer Satisfaction survey to learn about potential product areas for improvement or identify unaddressed customer needs. The company is confident that drawing up action plans to incorporate as many of customers' suggestions as possible would make the next generation of products even more impactful and easier to use.

"The survey gives us access to very interesting data. The good news is that for every feature request made in the survey, we have already managed to add a user story to our product roadmap. Many of these new features or functionalities are on track to be delivered before the end of the year," said Tim Masters, Director of Product Management and Design.

To learn more about the company, its portfolio of solutions, the decades of work dedicated to refining its AI and NLP technology for clinical data use cases, and the team behind all this, please visit Inspirata.com.

Legacy Suite Secures Online Identity Through Its New Social Media Legacy Program
Protecting digital footprint and social media accounts in the digital age

A developer of digital asset management solutions, including password managers and power of attorney, Legacy Suite now offers a social media legacy package for anyone wanting to protect their online identity, deal with legal considerations after death, and provide closure for loved ones in a comprehensive estate planning for protection against social media accounts.

"In today's digital age, social media has become an integral part of our lives, shaping how we connect with others and share our experiences," Sean Foote, CEO of Legacy Suite, said. "As we create and curate our digital presence, a 'social media legacy' emerges—a lasting record of our thoughts, emotions, and moments captured online. But what happens to this social legacy when we are no longer here?"

A social media legacy program for social media accounts protects an online identity and ensures a digital footprint that aligns with personal values and wishes. With Legacy Suite, data, digital vaults, and passwords can be managed, stored, and assigned to digital executors, beneficiaries, and trusted contacts.

"A legacy plan helps safeguard your online persona from potential misuses, such as identity theft or unauthorized access," Foote said. "By designating a digital executor or legacy contact, you can ensure that your social media accounts are handled according to your wishes."

Since social media accounts contain cherished memories and personal moments, the legacy suite can provide closure for loved ones. "By creating a legacy plan, you can offer your loved ones a chance to access, archive, or memorialize your digital presence, helping them find closure and solace during their time of grief," Foote said.

More than ever, it is important to restrict digital footprints to maintain control after death. "A social media legacy plan allows you to decide the fate of your online presence, whether it involves deleting your accounts, memorializing them, or handing over control to a trusted individual," Foote said.

A well-crafted plan can prevent tricky situations concerning content by outlining how accounts should be managed or deactivated. "Without a legacy plan, your social media profiles may continue to appear in search results, friend suggestions, or birthday reminders, causing distress for your friends and family," Foote said.

There are legal considerations with digital assets being recognized as part of one's estate. A social media legacy plan can help streamline the legal processes involved in settling affairs.

Mark Hamill would be fine if they recast Luke Skywalker

0
Mark Hamill would be fine if they recast Luke Skywalker

Mark Hamill would be fine if they recast Luke Skywalker with an age-appropriate actor instead of using de-aging/deep-fake.

Before Mark Hamill made his return as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the last time we saw the character was in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Given the decades of history that took place between those two movies, it’s only natural that Lucasfilm would want to explore it. We’ve seen bits and pieces of that story play out in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett with a digital/deep-fake Luke Skywalker, but Mark Hamill told Esquire that it would be fine if they just recast the character with someone age-appropriate.

People say, ‘Oh, now you’re going to be able to do a whole series of Luke post-Return of the Jedi.’ I said, ‘I don’t think so,’” Mark Hamill said. “First of all, they don’t need to tell those stories, but if they do, they could get an age-appropriate actor.” It would certainly cut down on costs, as Hamill added that the digital Luke Skywalker “can’t be cheap.

When Mark Hamill read the script for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he thought, “Ok, well, that’s it for me.” He then began the process of “disengaging from something that’s been a part of your life.” Of course, he wound up returning as a Force Ghost in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but he hadn’t anticipated playing the role again until The Mandalorian came calling. With one of the new Star Wars movies taking place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker as Rey (Daisy Ridley) attempts to rebuild the Jedi Order, it’s possible that Mark Hamill could return as Luke Skywalker once again, but Hamill isn’t about to confirm anything. “One thing you learn working for Lucasfilm: everything is confidential,” Hamill said. “Everything is confidential. So, if I were involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. And if I were not involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. So, I don’t know. We’ll all find out together, I guess.

Mark Hamill can currently be seen starring alongside Bert Kreischer in The Machine. Check out a review from our own Alex Maidy right here.

How do you feel about Luke Skywalker being recast for post-Return of the Jedi stories instead of using de-aging/deep-fake?

Euphoria season 3 may not debut until 2025

Euphoria season 3 may not debut until 2025

HBO’s Head of Drama Francesca Orsi says that Euphoria season 3 may not debut until 2025 as result of WGA strike.

The second season of HBO’s Euphoria concluded more than a year ago, but fans will have to wait longer than expected for season 3.

HBO’s Head of Drama Francesca Orsi told Deadline that Euphoria season 3 is one of many shows impacted by the WGA strike and may not debut until 2025. “Euphoria is one of those that we had begun writing in tandem with post-production on Idol but at this point, we don’t have countless scripts,” Orsi said. “We can’t start shooting, so the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam [Levinson], who at this point is all pencils down and just finishing posts on Idol.

Euphoria is far from the only HBO series affected by the strike, although Orsi says that it’s still “too early to tell” exactly how previously announced scheduling plans will change. “We were looking at The Last Of Us for some time in 2025,” Orsi said. “And The White Lotus was ideally looking to go in 2024 but there’s some question about timing of the strike.” She continued: “While everything at this moment is pencils down, I’m hopeful that we can come to terms sooner than later. Otherwise we will have to assess what is the end of the 24 schedule, what are the shows that are going to be delivered for 2025. At this point, those shows that I’m looking to air wouldn’t necessarily be ready if this strike last six to nine months. So yes, that’s a big question for us, but I think we’ll cross that road once we come to it.

Euphoria follows a group of high school students as they navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship. The show has become one of HBO’s most-watched series. Sam Levinson’s next series is The Idol, a drama which follows an aspiring pop idol (Lily-Rose Depp) who, after having a nervous breakdown that causes her last tour to be canceled, resolves to reclaim her title as the sexiest pop star in America and begins a complex relationship with Tedros (Abel Tesfaye), a self-help guru and the head of a contemporary cult. The series is said to rival Euphoria when it comes to shocking content, so I’d imagine that plenty will be turning out to view the series when it debuts on HBO on June 4th.

Traumatic Miscarriage Precedes Birth of Baby Girl to Michelle Tang, Co-Founder & CEO of IMA ART Fertility

Traumatic Miscarriage Precedes Birth of Baby Girl to Michelle Tang, Co-Founder & CEO of IMA ART Fertility
Baby Dylan delivered by world-renowned OBGYN Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi at Cedars Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles

Michelle's traumatic miscarriage and failed IVF treatment in Hong Kong inadvertently prepared her for leading IMA ART Fertility Beverly Hills. The Hong Kong experience honed Michelle's listening skills and to speak to clients with compassion and empathy

Michelle and her husband were among the estimated 15% of couples who experience infertility. For several years, the couple tried to conceive naturally, ultimately turning to a disappointing Hong Kong IVF cycle. During their journey to parenthood, Michelle suffered a miscarriage, loss of a frozen embryo at a clinic in Hong Kong, and a failed embryo implantation. Her first-hand experience in Hong Kong demonstrated the decisive difference in reproductive healthcare standards between Hong Kong and California.

After the miscarriage, Michelle courageously turned adversity to strength, channelling her deep feelings of personal loss into connecting with, and helping others, through their own IVF and Surrogacy journeys. After arriving in Beverly Hills, Michelle sought the help of well known & highly respected Dr Thaïs Aliabadi. Within a few months of the first consultation, Michelle tested positive for pregnancy.

Dr Aliabadi provided experienced, skilled and compassionate obstetric care during Michelle's pregnancy and delivery. Miranda Ripper, Certified Registered Nurse Specialist in Labor & Delivery - a private nurse working along side Dr. Aliabadi - met Michelle and her husband at check-in and remained by her side through labor and delivery. Miranda's 25 years of clinical expertise in nursing, helped educate, guide, and support Michelle through labor and Dylan's birth.

The CDC's definition of infertility is not being able to get pregnant after 12 months of unprotected sex. Because fertility in women is known to decline steadily with age, some providers evaluate and treat women aged 35 years or older after 6 months of unprotected sex. In the United States, among heterosexual women aged 15 to 49 years with no prior births, about 1 in 5 (19%) are unable to get pregnant after one year of trying (infertility). Also, about 1 in 4 (26%) women in this group have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term (impaired fecundity).

IMA ART understands the process preceding the decision to ultimately seek professional fertility assistance needs time and patience. Michelle knows how stressful & physically draining infertility treatments can be. Patients receive personal treatment protocols addressing their unique needs. The company provides their clients with access to a privately curated network of world-class fertility specialists, reproductive lawyers, psychological assistance and exceptional concierge services. California IVF success rates make it the fertility capital of the world.

About the Company: IMA ART is a high-value bespoke professional advisory service providing luxury fertility & surrogacy concierge and solutions in Beverly Hills. The company offers an exclusive suite of discreet fertility options geared towards busy high net worth individuals. Learn more at www.imaartfertility.com.
