Two-fifths (42%) of U.S. adults regularly experience anxiety related to their health, according to a March 2023 survey of 1,000 U.S. adults by Reputation Leaders. The same study found that younger Americans (ages 18-44) are most impacted; 50% struggle with mental health, and 26% feel that their anxiety has impacted their work.
'Health For All' is still a long way off
These findings are consistent with the World Health Organization (WHO) study of March 2022, which found that the COVID-19 pandemic triggered a 25% rise in anxiety and depression globally. Meanwhile, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, 60% of people who struggle with anxiety are not receiving treatment. This is mainly attributed to the high cost of mental health support and care in the U.S. (Mental Health America Report 2023).
U.S. public health information is not well understood and not fully trusted
Along with the trend of health anxiety, 62% of U.S. adults are more aware of health risks following the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, a quarter of Americans struggle to understand the information distributed by official health organizations, and 18% simply do not trust it. Clearly, U.S. health confidence is not thriving, and Americans need support and clear information to navigate the health challenges - mental and otherwise.
On World Health Day 2023, Reputation Leaders is participating in the efforts to break the mental health taboo by talking about U.S. adult health anxiety. Under this year's theme, Health for All, the need to make mental health care accessible to help all people navigate the post-pandemic uncertainty is more important than ever.

Today, the Health Equity Collaborative (HEC) united a diverse community of dozens of national, public health, patient advocacy, civil rights, and multicultural organizations to deliver an open letter to the 118th Congress and President Joe Biden outlining a shared set of guidelines for advancing health equity. Now in its third edition, HEC has previously sent Health Equity Guidelines to the 116th and 117th Congresses.
The letter aims to call attention to the challenges faced by underserved populations across the nation and to mobilize policymakers and healthcare stakeholders to combat existing disparities.
Seventeen new organizations joined the open letter this year. The growing number of signers illustrates an overwhelming commitment by the collective group to overcome economic, social, and other obstacles to better health and healthcare.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 release date has been announced, plus Paramount+ has officially renewed the series for a third season.
It was revealed last week that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 had already begun production, but we hadn’t heard anything about the release of season 2… until now. Paramount+ has announced that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 will debut on June 15th.
In addition to revealing the release date for Strange New Worlds season 2, the streaming service has officially renewed the series for a ten-episode third season. The adventures of the crew of the USS Enterprise will continue. The series stars Anson Mount as Christoper Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. The second season of Strange New Worlds started shooting months before the first season premiere and wrapped in July 2022. As someone who immensely enjoyed the series, I can’t wait to see what the next two seasons have in store for us. While I consider myself a fan of Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, I was hungry for a return to the more episodic stories that Strange New Worlds has offered. While we’re on the subject of Star Trek, Paramount+ also revealed that the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks has been renewed for a fifth season. Last week, I guessed that Paramount+ might be saving the official announcement of the season 3 renewal and season 2 release date of Strange New Worlds for First Contact Day (April 5th). But with those reveals out of the way… who knows what might happen. Franchise producer Alex Kurtzman recently teased that we should hear about new Star Trek projects soon. “[We] have plans for new things… there’s quite a few plans, and you’ll hear about them soon,” Alex Kurtzman said. “We will continue to expand the Star Trek universe, absolutely.“
The first season of Strange New Worlds is now available on Blu-ray, and will be released on 4K Ultra HD on May 16th, which will mark the first 4K release of any Star Trek TV series.
Will Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm be ending with season 12? Writer/producer Jon Hayman certainly thinks so.
After more than two decades on HBO, Curb Your Enthusiasm may finally be ending.
Production on Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12 recently wrapped, and sources told THR that this could be the last season of the long-running comedy series. In a since-deleted tweet, Curb Your Enthusiasm writer/producer Jon Hayman shared a photo from what he called the final episode and wrote, “Maybe you love the show. Maybe you hate the show. Maybe you don’t give a shit. In any event, shooting the last scene of the last episode of the final season.” HBO declined to comment.
Curb Your Enthusiasm hasn’t exactly stuck to a regular schedule throughout its history. HBO has more or less let Larry David decide when he wants to return, which has led to some large gaps between seasons, most notably six years between seasons 8 and 9. It’s also important to note that previous seasons have been thought to have been the last, but this time may be different as Larry David‘s contract with HBO is up this year.
Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Richard Lewis also tweeted about filming his last scene for the potentially final season. “There I was a few hours ago in my trailer on location to shoot my last scene of #Curb12,” Lewis wrote. “Hard to believe we started in 2000. Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory is swinging for the fences with the recent completion of its renovated museum experience - the museum's first museum gallery renovation in nearly 15 years.
The museum has knocked the renovations out of the park and into its hallowed Bat Vault, one of the many renovated areas of the museum. The Bat Vault is now a 638-square-foot gallery, more than double its original size. Guests can enter the Vault and marvel at more than 3,000 original bat models designed by some of the game's most legendary players. Some of the models on display are over 100 years old. The Bat Vault experience is now included with general admission to the museum.

The gallery renovation was designed by JRA - Part of RWS Entertainment Group of Cincinnati, with Louisville's Schaefer Construction serving as the general contractor for the build-out. Fabrication was done by 1220 Exhibits of Nashville, Tennessee.
The museum hosted a Gallery Unveiling Event on April 5, during which representatives of Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory gave remarks and a new Bat Vault model was added to the collection in honor of the ceremony.

Long COVID "brain fog" symptoms are linked to auditory processing disorder (APD), an underdiagnosed neurological disorder, suggests a new study from the Auditory Processing Institute of Queensland, Australia, published today in The Hearing Journal. Authored by renowned audiologists Dr. Robert DiSogra and Dr. Angela Loucks Alexander, whose recent TEDx Talk generated more than one million views, the study found that patients can be treated effectively with existing interventions. Unfortunately, APD symptoms can easily be confused with other hearing or neurological issues, so people with these symptoms should proactively talk to their doctors about getting APD testing.
APD occurs when a patient's brain has trouble understanding what they hear into usable information, making it difficult to understand and communicate with others. Untreated patients can quickly suffer serious consequences, including an inability to connect with others, strained relationships, poor job performance, and depression.
"We've seen an uptick in patients whose symptoms started after a COVID-19 diagnosis but testing for an auditory processing disorder is rarely recommended. As a result of this study, we can confidently tell people with "brain fog" symptoms to get tested for APD," says Dr. Angela Loucks Alexander, Director of the Auditory Processing Institute. "Early testing is a simple step that would have saved many of our patients a lot of distress and provided them with treatment much sooner."
Because "brain fog" symptoms may be caused by a wide variety of neurological and other medical conditions, APD can be overlooked. For patients searching for answers, APD testing could open a new pathway to recovery.
APD patients may experience trouble understanding people when there is background noise, often find that they need information repeated multiple times, and might have trouble remembering what was said to them. The good news is that while it is not widely known to the public, auditory processing disorder is both easy to test for and highly treatable.
"This is the first end-to-end scientific case study of its kind evaluating a patient's diagnosis and progress — providing a road map from diagnosis to recovery. It tells us that existing treatments can have excellent results for patients who are experiencing APD symptoms after COVID-19," said Dr. Robert DiSogra, an Audiology consultant in Millstone, New Jersey. "We hope to see more research as a result of this study."
Study Summary
Patients who have experienced COVID-19 and are now complaining of "brain fog" may suffer from an Auditory Processing Disorder (APD).
The Auditory Processing Institute in Queensland, Australia, reported a case study involving a physician without hearing complaints before COVID-19 infection. After tests were administered, it was found that the patient had a significantly impaired ability to understand speech in noise in both ears. Through systematic auditory training, the patient showed significant improvement on all tests after just 12 sessions and resolved his chief complaint of difficulty hearing in noise in a crowded environment. These results suggest that current techniques used in these test batteries can help diagnose an APD related to post-COVID-19 "brain fog" and manage those patients as effectively as non-COVID-19 sufferers.
The authors recommend that people with post-COVID-19 "brain fog" should have an audiologist evaluate their hearing and listening abilities.
