Advance America: Where to Get an Instant Payday Loan in 2023

Advance America: People who are short on cash have lots of options for getting the immediate funding they need in 2023. An instant payday loan can give borrowers same-day funds, and may not require good credit. Here's where to get instant payday loans and what applicants need to qualify.

Where to get an instant payday loan

Payday loans can be acquired from several different places:

Online

Many payday lenders now have online platforms where users can fill out a short application and get approved instantly. This option can not only be done from the comfort of their home, but it also conveniently takes care of connecting with the applicant's bank account so that funds can be transferred right away.

Through an app

Many lenders with an online presence also offer payday loan apps that are convenient for smartphone users. Similar to filling out an application on the lender's website, an app allows borrowers to apply on a mobile device from the comfort of home.

In store

There are still many brick-and-mortar retailers offering payday loans. Applicants who don't feel comfortable with technology or who prefer working with someone in person can lean on payday loan store locations for support.

How to get a payday loan

Those who are interested in getting a payday loan can do so by taking the following steps:

1. Select the application method

The first step an applicant should ask themselves is how they'd prefer to apply for a payday loan: online, by app, or in person. The answer to this question may have a direct impact on which companies they can work with, since some lenders might not offer all three methods.

2. Choose a reputable lender

The next step is to find a lender with creditability and a positive user experience. Applicants should spend some time doing some research online and reading online reviews of various companies. Avoid working with lenders who have consistent negative feedback.

3. Fill out an application

Once the borrower has chosen the right lender, it's time to apply for a payday loan. Applicants will have to provide several personal and financial details and items, including:

  • ID (to verify they are over 18 years old)
  • Proof of income, such as a paycheck stub
  • Social Security number
  • Bank account number

4. Write the lender a post-dated check

As part of the process, applicants may also be asked to write the payday lender a post-dated check. This is so that if the applicant does not pay back the money borrowed by the agreed-upon date, the lender can cash it and recoup what is owed. Those people who apply online or by the app may have to agree to a similar arrangement to have money automatically debited from their bank account.

5. Pay off the balance

After receiving the loan, borrowers should devise a plan for how they'll pay back the funds before the balance is due. Although many lenders will offer the opportunity to extend the loan for an additional two to four weeks, this option will lead to additional interest charges. So, it's smart for applicants to strategize ahead of time and take steps to ensure they have a good repayment plan in place.

The bottom line

From online platforms to apps and physical stores, borrowers have many options for getting a payday loan in 2023. Those in need of fast funds can consider working with Advance America, a safe and reputable lender that offers payday loans borrowers can apply for online or in-store. These loans can get borrowers the funds they need as quickly as the same day they apply. Borrowers can visit AdvanceAmerica.net or go to a store location near them to get started on an application today.

Escape from New York: Radio Silence describes their new film as a “requel”

Escape from New York: Radio Silence describes their new film as a “requel”

Radio Silence filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett say their take on John Carpenter’s Escape from New York is a requel

In last year’s Scream movie, which came to us from the filmmaking trio known as Radio Silence (directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, producer Chad Villella), there’s a moment where the characters realize the latest iteration of the Ghostface killer is “making a requel”. It breaks down like this: “You can’t just reboot a franchise from scratch anymore, but you can’t just do a straight sequel either. You’ve got to build something new. It’s got to be part of an on-going storyline. New main characters, yes, but supported by and related to legacy characters. Not quite a reboot, not quite a sequel.” Some prefer to term “legacyquel” over “requel”, but in a new interview with ComicBook.com Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett confirmed they’re planning to make an Escape from New York “requel”.

It was announced back in November that Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett are attached to direct a new take on John Carpenter’s 1981 sci-fi action film Escape from New York (watch it HERE). The directors later specified that their Escape from New York is in the early stages of development, but this would not be a remake. Now, when asked by ComicBook.com if the movie will be a requel that will allow Escape from New York and Escape from L.A. star Kurt Russell to return, the directors said: “It’s a great question. I don’t think we know enough about the movie yet to be able to say anything, but yes ‘requel’ is the idea. There’s no way to remake how great that movie is, would be a fool’s errand to try. So, you know, we’ll try to borrow what we love from it and find a new way to put the package together.

Radio Silence are the latest in a long line of filmmakers who have tried to get a new Escape from New York off the ground. The project has previously passed through the hands of Len Wiseman, Brett Ratner, Breck Eisner, Robert Rodriguez, and Leigh Whannell. The initial announcement said Carpenter was on board to executive produce the film, but he later told Variety that no one had talked to him about it yet.

Scripted by Carpenter and Nick Castle, Escape from New York has the following description:

In a world ravaged by crime, the entire island of Manhattan has been converted into a walled prison where brutal prisoners roam. But when the US president crash-lands inside, only one man can bring him back: notorious outlaw and former Special Forces war hero Snake Plissken. But time is short. In 24 hours, an explosive device implanted in his neck will end Snake’s mission – and his life – unless he succeeds!

Russell was joined in the cast by Donald Pleasence, Isaac Hayes, Adrienne Barbeau, Harry Dean Stanton, Ernest Borgnine, Lee Van Cleef, Tom Atkins, Charles Cyphers, Frank Doubleday, John Strobel, Season Hubley, Nancy Stephens, George Buck Flower, and Ox Baker, with some narration by Jamie Lee Curtis.

Carpenter and Russell wrote Escape from L.A. with Debra Hill, crafting the following story:

In 2013, the United States president is exiling all citizens who don’t conform to his hyper-conservative views to Los Angeles, which became an island after a huge earthquake. But when the president’s daughter nabs the detonator to her dad’s apocalyptic weapon and sneaks into L.A. to be with the rebel leader she loves, the government taps commando-turned-crook Snake Plissken to retrieve the young woman. And, if he doesn’t succeed quickly, he’ll be executed.

Russell was joined in that one by Steve Buscemi, Peter Fonda, Cliff Robertson, Valeria Golino, Stacy Keach, Pam Grier, Bruce Campbell, Georges Corraface, Michelle Forbes, Peter Jason, and A.J. Langer.

Mental Health Conditions a Psychiatrist Can Address

Mental Health Conditions a Psychiatrist Can Address

iQuanti: Psychiatrists diagnose and treat mental health conditions. A psychiatrist can address a range of issues, including depression, panic disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, substance-use disorders, and more. If you're wondering what to expect—whether you're seeing a psychiatrist in Austin, Miami, Omaha, or somewhere else—here's an overview of what psychiatrists do and what they can help patients with.

What does a psychiatrist do?

Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that diagnoses and treats mental health conditions. Psychiatrists assess physical as well as mental and emotional symptoms.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (licensed as an M.D. or D.O.). Psychiatrists work with patients to assess and diagnose mental health conditions and create an appropriate treatment plan. To diagnose a patient, a psychiatrist may use physiological and lab tests. They will also ask about the patient's symptoms, their family and medical history, and other relevant information to obtain the information they need to make a diagnosis. Psychiatrists typically consult the American Psychiatric Association's manual, called the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (the DSM), when assessing symptoms and making a diagnosis.

After making a diagnosis, a psychiatrist may prescribe medication, such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, sedatives, stimulants, or mood stabilizers. They sometimes include scheduled treatments such as electroconvulsive shock treatment (ECT) in a treatment plan. While psychiatrists typically do not perform ongoing therapy themselves, they may recommend regular therapy sessions with a psychologist or other clinician.

Psychiatrists monitor patients as they adjust to medication and other treatments. In follow-up visits, they may adjust the treatment plan by changing the medication or dosage and recommending other treatments.

Conditions treated

Psychiatrists can treat many mental health conditions. These can include substance-use disorders for those struggling with addiction, dementia, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, body dysmorphia, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), postpartum and other types of depression, schizophrenia, sleep-related disorders, and others.

It's important to remember that everyone is different, and treatment plans are tailored to each patient. This means treating panic disorder in one patient may not look exactly like treating the same issue in another. Treatment plans can involve more than one medication.

Speaking with a psychiatrist

Speaking with a psychiatrist can be the first step in improving your mental health. If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms or having difficulty functioning in daily life, it may be time to reach out to a psychiatrist and schedule an appointment.

Evil Dead animated series: Bruce Campbell says they’re “actively pursuing” the idea

Evil Dead animated series: Bruce Campbell says they’re “actively pursuing” the idea

Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are actively pursuing the idea of continuing the Evil Dead franchise with an animated series

After playing Evil Dead franchise hero Ash Williams on screen for around forty years, spanning three feature films and three seasons of the TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead, Bruce Campbell formally retired from the role, saying he’s not physically able to handle the action sequences any longer. But he is still willing to voice the character, as evident from the recently released Evil Dead: The Game… and just over a year ago, he said would gladly provide Ash’s voice if there were ever to be an Evil Dead animated series. Franchise creator Sam Raimi has let it be known that he wants to continue making Evil Dead projects with Campbell, and he must have heard Campbell’s answer to the animated series question, because our friends at Bloody Disgusting report that Campbell has confirmed they are “actively pursuing” the idea of an Evil Dead animated series!

Campbell told Bloody Disgusting, “All I can say is we’re actively pursuing it. Sam’s a busy guy. He had a big hit movie, so he’s got a lot on his plate, but he and his brother are actively shaping out the world. It’s one thing to get an animator and say, ‘Hey, animate this!’ You’ve got to know what you’re going to animate. I look forward to it, because my voice hasn’t aged as much as I have.

Clearly there aren’t many details to share about the project at this time – but here’s hoping that it would pick right up from the futuristic ending of the Ash vs. Evil Dead TV series. Campbell has previously said it would. “You pick up right where the show left off. You can do the future a lot easier in animation.

While we wait to see what happens with the Evil Dead animated series, we have writer/director Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise to look forward to. That film is set to reach theatres on April 21st.

What do you think of Bruce Campbell providing the voice of Ash for an Evil Dead animated series, possibly one that continues the story of Ash vs. Evil Dead? Share your thoughts on this idea by leaving a comment below.

An Independent Study Comparing Blink Reflex Detection Device EyeStat to Standard Lab Techniques Concludes That the Device Provides Reliable and Accurate Measures
The research opens the doors for promising applications that can help people with neurological diseases such as Parkinson's.

An independent study titled "Validating a Portable Device for Blinking Analyses through Laboratory Neurophysiological Techniques," carried out by prominent blink researcher Matteo Bologna, M.D., sheds light on technological solutions that can help millions of people with neurological diseases around the world. The study compared revolutionary blink reflex technology by blinkcns, Inc., called EyeStat, with standard lab techniques and concluded that the former provides reliable and accurate measures.

The technology is the brainchild of The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and was licensed by blinkcns, a South Carolina-based biotech company that holds the worldwide rights to stimulating and analyzing the blink reflex to help improve the detection and management of neurological disease and conditions like Parkinson's, ADHD, and TBI.

Their FDA-cleared technology, EyeStat, uses 8 light puffs of air to stimulate a patient's blink reflex in a 30-second test. The technology can also be configured to measure a patient's spontaneous or voluntary blink, requiring no stimulus. The system employs high-speed videography to capture and record the eyelids and measure various parameters of the blink reflex using a proprietary algorithm.

In the study, Dr. Bologna recorded eye-blink kinematics using traditional laboratory-based techniques and compared it with the data obtained from the portable EyeStat device. To conduct the analysis, sixteen healthy adults underwent spontaneous and voluntary blink recordings and used the SMART motion analysis system and EyeStat device. The recorded blinking data showed a linear relationship with the outcome collected with the SMART system (p ranged from <0.001 to 0.02; r ranged from 0.85 to 0.57).

These outcomes showed high reliability and accuracy of a blinking analysis compared to traditional processes. The study concluded that EyeStat, due to its portable nature and underlying technology, makes recording blinking more accessible in daily clinical practice and research activities. This would allow for future large-scale studies with patients with neurological diseases and healthy subjects in diverse clinic settings. During the experimentation session, none of the participants experienced any adverse effects.

Referring to the study, blinkcns CEO Ryan Fiorini said, "The eyes are the window into the brain. The blink reflex, specifically, can tell a whole story about what's going on in the brain neurologically. We want to thank Dr. Bologna for the invaluable independent research that will undoubtedly shed light on the scientific advantages of using this technology to assess the blink reflex. We hope it will go a long way to helping people across the globe in various clinical settings."

Using the portable device, data can easily be obtained in patients with neurological conditions or neurodegenerative diseases, specifically ADHD, TBI, and Parkinson's, blinkcns' main research areas. Another application is to generate valuable data to monitor the short to long-term effects of surgery and drugs.

About blinkcns: Blinkcns (formerly blinktbi) is a Charleston, SC-based biotech company dedicated to improving the detection and management of neurological disease through rapid, non-invasive collection of objective data from the eyes. The company holds the world-wide rights to stimulating and analyzing the blink reflex by the means of air, sound or light. Their FDA-cleared technology, called EyeStat, measures the blink with gentle air puffs to provide objective data about the brain. With foundational research in traumatic brain injury (TBI), the company is exploring clinical programs in other neurological disease states and conditions such as Parkinson's, ADHD, Dry Eye, and more.

10 Questions Psychiatrists Might Ask to Check on Your Progress

10 Questions Psychiatrists Might Ask to Check on Your Progress

iQuanti: If you're starting a new treatment plan, you'll likely have several follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist in Austin to monitor progress. During these appointments, your clinician will ask questions to assess your mental health and wellness. Here are 10 questions your psychiatrist might ask and why:

1. How are you feeling? Your psychiatrist might lead with this general question to get an idea of your emotional state. Your answer can provide a broad overview of your current mental health and how medication, if taking, is helping.

2. Are you experiencing any side effects? Many medications have known side effects. It can help to keep a log or journal of your symptoms and any potential side effects. Documenting this information can make it easier for the psychiatrist to determine whether they need to adjust your medication.

3. How are your symptoms? This is a direct way to ask how well the medication is working. Let your clinician know if your symptoms are improving or if your progress hasn't been what you expected.

4. Are you under any stress? Stress can worsen mental health symptoms and impact progress on medication. It's important to share any current life stressors with your psychiatrist, whether it's family-related, work-related, or something else. Understanding what's going on in your life can help your clinician get a fuller, more accurate picture of your mental health.

5. How well are you sleeping? Sleep issues can indicate a variety of mental health concerns. If your sleep habits are improving, the psychiatrist may see that as a sign that the medication is working. If you're having trouble getting to or staying asleep, this may indicate an issue, such as a side effect of medication. Getting too little sleep can greatly affect your mental health and worsen symptoms of many conditions.

6. Are there any environmental factors that make your symptoms worse? If you've noticed that certain triggers, such as a particular place or people, make you feel worse, let your psychiatrist know. They might be able to provide strategies for dealing with these triggers.

7. How would you rate your overall level of functioning? Many people reach out to a psychiatrist because they're having difficulty with daily functioning. Improved functioning - at work, in school, or in relationships - can indicate that treatment is working.

8. Have you been using any substances? Some people engage in alcohol or substance use to cope with mental health issues and self-medicate. If you're still doing this - or if you've started doing it - this could be a sign that your medication is not working as intended. Some substances interact with medication, so it's important to let your psychiatrist know. A competent clinician will not judge you for this.

9. Have you noticed any other changes? Your psychiatrist might ask if you've noticed anything outside your symptoms improving or worsening. Anything from an increase in energy levels to better concentration can signal progress.

10. Is there anything else you'd like to discuss? This open-ended question allows you to bring up any other topics or concerns related to your mental health. Feel free to provide any information that gives your psychiatrist a fuller picture of your mental health and raise any issues that need more attention.

Legacy Suite Announces Publication of Patent for Management of Digital and Traditional Assets
Developers of estate planning, password manager, and crypto wallet solutions announce the publication of a U.S. patent.

Legacy Suite announces the company's U.S. patent publication for an estate planning and beneficiary management system.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued U.S. Patent No. 11,599,961, titled "Estate Planning and Beneficiary Management System Including Digital Assets," that addresses the system's structure to safeguard different categories of personal digital documents. The patent, filed on June 30, 2022, and granted on March 7, 2023, expands the breadth and depth of Legacy Suite's intellectual property portfolio and underscores its commitment to innovation.

"The granting of this patent recognizes the innovation and unique nature of Legacy Suite's products for protecting the wide range of digital assets that have become common and essential in people's lives, and it protects our work as Legacy Suite expands its reach in the marketplace," company President Gordon Bell said.

Legacy Suite is the developer of an innovative, comprehensive, and integrated slate of products that allow people to manage digital assets like passwords, electronic legal and financial documents, images and other digital media, cryptocurrency, and NFTs, both for their use and as a legacy to their heirs.

"With the emergence of the digital revolution, many of the things people own and consume aren't tangible," said Bell. "That includes cryptocurrency, online banking accounts, social media accounts, and email accounts, as well as digital versions of vital documents like living wills and health care directives."

A person's estate changes over the years, including adjustments to asset portfolios, health insurance policies, marriages and divorces, deaths and births of family members, and tax considerations if moving to a different state or country, Bell said. Also, investment portfolios may increase or decrease in value, and some physical assets may be acquired, sold, donated, or lost.

Users can select heirs and other beneficiaries to access the platform's critical data and digital assets. The estate planning process can include an inventory of assets and the instructions and credentials to locate and access them.

The information is organized into suites, including a legal suite for legal documents, a legacy suite for user legacy information, a digital suite for passwords and digital asset access information, and a financial suite for traditional and digital assets.

"There is clearly a need to include digital estate planning considerations in the traditional estate planning model, and Legacy Suite provides solutions that offer protection and peace of mind for the owner of those digital assets today and in the future," Bell said.

About Legacy Suite

Unseen Review

Unseen Review

Arrow in the Head reviews the Blumhouse thriller Unseen, starring Jolene Purdy and Midori Francis. Directed by Yoko Okumura

PLOT: A nearsighted woman being pursued through the woods by her homicidal ex has to have a stranger on a video call try to guide her to safety.

REVIEW: Two of the best thrillers to be released in the last few years were John Hyam’s Alone and Randall Okita’s See for Me – and if you were to drop those two movies into a Mixmaster, the resulting concoction would probably be something very much like Yoko Okumura’s feature directorial debut Unseen. Like Alone, Unseen is about a woman escaping from the clutches of a killer who has taken her to a cabin in the woods, running off through the forest in hopes of finding help and civilization. The women in both movies even end up taking a plunge into a river. And as in See for Me, the endangered woman in this movie has vision issues (in this case, she is extremely nearsighted), so she has to get on a video call with a third party and hope they can guide her to safety. So Unseen is quite reminiscent of Alone and See for Me, but at the same time it has its own style and quirkiness that makes it a unique viewing experience. Even if you have already seen those other movies, Unseen is worth checking out on its own merits.

The story scripted by Salvatore Cardoni and Brian Rawlins begins with Florida gas station cashier Sam (Jolene Purdy) dialing a wrong number right before reporting for her shift. This misdial connects her with Emily (Midori Francis), a Michigan doctor who has been abducted by her ex-boyfriend Charlie (Michael Patrick Lane), who has taken her out to a cabin in the woods with the intention of killing her. He says it’s the only way he can properly move on from her. Okumura and the writers don’t waste any time getting the action rolling; Sam makes her accidental call to Emily’s phone in the very first scene, and Emily exits the cabin – without her much-needed glasses – at almost exactly the ten minute mark. Unseen is all about the adventure Emily and Sam go on through the woods, together but at long distance, and that adventure takes us through the rest of the film’s perfectly short and quick 76 minute running time.

If you’re wondering, the movie does give an acceptable explanation for why Emily is guided through the woods by the random person who accidentally called her number instead of a 911 operator (and yes, 911 is called before the gas station clerk is called). That allows the viewer to just go with it as the at-first reluctant and overwhelmed Sam tries to help the beleaguered woman who’s roughly 1000 miles away from her escape from a dangerous situation. And Emily isn’t the only one who has to worry about her safety. As Emily makes her way through the woods with Charlie tracking her, Sam has unpleasant dealings with a customer, Missi Pyle as a wealthy woman who is the ultimate “Karen” even though her name is actually Carol. And the gun-toting Carol’s even-bigger-gun-toting Hubby Wubby.

While Sam and Emily are both down-to-earth characters we come to like and care about as the story plays out, the villains in the movie lean toward the ridiculous. Charlie only slightly so; he stills comes off as a serious threat. But the people Sam has to deal with at the gas station go way over-the-top, bringing a quirky humor into the picture. It didn’t fully work for me, but it wasn’t off-putting. I was too invested in what was going on with Sam and Emily for Carol and her cohorts to turn me away.

Unseen Jolene Purdy

Jolene Purdy and Midori Francis both deliver great performances, and the quiet moments between the thrills allow them to bounce dialogue off of each other that gives us a deeper understanding of both of their characters. When the thrills kick in, we’re rooting for them every step of the way, wanting Emily to overcome the threat of Charlie and Sam to be able to stay on the phone with her despite all the obstacles Carol and other circumstances in the gas station put in her way.

Unseen is making its way into the world as part of the eight-movie deal Blumhouse made with the network that was formerly known as Epix and is now known as MGM+. Whether you catch it on digital, VOD, or when it reaches MGM+, it’s worth seeking out. It’s 76 minutes of a good time watching two likeable characters deal with bad situations, and it’s a nice showcase for the talents of Purdy and Francis. With this, Okumura has gotten her feature directing career off to a solid start.

Unseen will be receiving a digital and VOD release on March 7th, and will be reaching MGM+ in May.
