Ideastream Public Media (Ideastream) and Evergreen Podcasts (Evergreen) are proud to announce the launch of Living for We, a new bi-weekly journalistic podcast series surrounding the health and wellness Black women face in Northeast Ohio. The podcast, hosted by Ideastream's Marlene Harris-Taylor, is part of Connecting the Dots between Race and Health, an ongoing Ideastream Public Media initiative that looks at how racism contributes to poor health outcomes in Northeast Ohio. HeyFranHey of The Loud Speakers Network's The Friend Zone and HBO's Insecuritea podcast is acting as creative director and contributing producer for Living For We, a podcast produced in collaboration with Cleveland's Enlightened Solutions

"We hope this podcast takes the listeners on a journey with Black women from Cleveland, as we try to make sense of this study that ranked Cleveland dead last in terms of livability for Black women," says Marlene. "There are so many positive things happening in the city, but Black women say in some respects they are still on the margins, struggling to be seen and heard."

The podcast pulls inspiration from Project Noir, a report created by Bethany Studenic and Chinenye Nkemere of Enlightened Solutions. They were inspired to create the report after Bloomberg CityLAB reported on a newly released study that placed Cleveland as dead last regarding livability for Black Women. In response, Project Noir- a survey featuring over 450 Black women from the Cleveland area sharing firsthand accounts of experiences in Cleveland's workplaces, schools, and educational systems- was published.

"Our partnership with Ideastream on this special community-focused initiative is a proud moment for Evergreen," says David Allen Moss, Evergreen's Chief Creative Officer. "This new series really lives up to our belief that podcasts can have a profound impact on the lives of residents in communities like Cleveland. We are all coming together in the name of positive change."

The limited-run journalistic podcast series will be released bi-weekly through June 2023. Season One of the Connecting the Dots between Race and Health Podcast: Living for We, is made possible by generous support from Dr. Donald J. Goodman and Ruth Weber Goodman Philanthropic Fund of the Cleveland Foundation. One can subscribe to the podcast for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and many other podcast platforms.

The partnership with Ideastream adds to Evergreen's ever-increasing robust lineup of over 200 podcasts on six unique podcast networks - EvergreenKiller PodcastsPit Pass MotoFive Minute NewsArs Longa Media, and Big Whig Podcasts. Evergreen is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cordless endodontic motor and apex locator

Kerr announces the launch of elementsTM Connect cordless endodontic motor and the Apex Connect electronic apex locator. elementsTM Connect operates in standard rotary, reciprocation, and adaptive motions allowing doctors to use their preferred motion during root canal treatment. The motor with Apex Connect can be coupled to unlock real-time working length reading during instrumentation of the root canal. elementsTM Connect and Apex Connect can be used in tandem or as standalone devices to simplify shaping procedures, enhance doctors' confidence, and aid patient safety.

"With elementsTM Connect, dental professionals now have the flexibility of a portable motor with two removable and rechargeable batteries for uninterrupted use during endodontic procedures. For added convenience, the motor comes with 14 memory slots, nine of which are pre-set file settings and five are customizable settings," explains Elizabeth Mascarena, Kerr's Marketing Manager. "Designed with Adaptive, Reciprocation, and Rotary motions, doctors can use most leading files on the market. When used with Apex Connect, its handpiece's light indicator provides real-time feedback while shaping," added Mascarena.

Apex Connect provides dental professionals with real-time working length indications of root canal depth via an easy-to-read, full-color, and angled display. The confidence-boosting smart light and sound indicators alert the doctor as they get closer to the canal's apex. 7 Simple Tricks to Rebuilding Your Credit

7 Simple Tricks to Rebuilding Your Credit

iQuanti: Your credit score has a significant impact on your life. A good credit score can help you get a mortgage, a personal loan, credit card consolidation services, and even a job. A bad credit score can prevent you from getting any of those things.

If your credit score is low, don't despair. You can do some simple things to start rebuilding your credit today.

1. Get a copy of your credit report and review it regularly

The first step to rebuilding your credit is to know where you stand in the eyes of financial institutions. You can get a free copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus once per year. Review your report carefully to make sure there are no errors. If you see anything that looks wrong, dispute it with these credit bureaus.

2. Make all of your payments on time

Payment history is influential in determining your credit score, so you must make sure you pay all of your bills on time. Set up automatic payments if possible, so you don't have to worry about forgetting to pay them.

3. Be mindful of your credit utilization ratio

Credit utilization is another important factor in your credit score. Keeping your debt balances below 30% of your total credit limit is best. For example, if you have a credit card with a $1,000 limit, you should keep your balance below $300.

4. Consolidating credit card debt

A long credit history can be good for your score, so you don't want to close old credit accounts—but that doesn't mean you have to let old credit card debt linger. If you can find a lender willing to give you a loan for credit card consolidation purposes, you might be able to keep your old credit accounts open without worrying about unruly interest charges adding up.

5. Get a secured credit card

Getting approved for a regular credit card may be challenging if you have bad credit. However, you deposit money when receiving a secured credit card that becomes your credit limit. So, if you put down $200, you can only spend up to $200, which can be an excellent way to limit your spending and show off healthy credit practices.

6. Become an authorized user on someone else's credit card

If you know someone with good credit who trusts you, you can ask them to add you as an authorized user on their credit card. You'll get a card linked to their account that you can use, but the activity will show up on your credit report.

7. Use a mix of different types of credit

Having a mix of different types of credit is also good for your score. So, in addition to a regular credit card, you might want to get a car loan or a personal loan. Just make sure you can afford the monthly payments.

How Everyone Can Use Financial Products

How Everyone Can Use Financial Products

iQuanti: Financial products can help you manage your debts, build your credit, or create an emergency fund. Many people may think they don't need support or products from financial institutions. Still, you can use personal loans, credit cards, or debt consolidation to benefit your financial journey—even for those with no or little credit history.

Personal Loans

Personal loans are flexible financial products you can use to support your financial goals. You may even be able to borrow a secured or an unsecured personal loan with little or no credit history, though interest rates will vary and secured loans require staking collateral. You can use personal loans for debt consolidation to combine many bills into one payment, often making the payments easier to manage. Or you can use a personal loan for making large purchases and avoiding high-interest credit card payments.

Credit Cards

Credit cards are flexible financial products that, when used responsibly, can build your credit. By actively using credit cards and paying off their debt balances, you can prove to financial lenders you are a responsible borrower. Lenders report on things like your ability to manage your credit utilization ratio and make on-time payments to credit bureaus. When they report favorable activities on your accounts, this has the potential to help you grow your credit score.

Financial Advice

Financial support is not just for people who understand all the elements of how financial products and services can be advantageous to them. One of the most underrated ways to receive financial support is to work with a lender who makes an effort to understand your unique financial position. When choosing a lender, you select a partner to help you manage your finances, so make sure they can explain how they'll help you achieve your financial plans.

As these are just a few easy ways to secure financial support, diligently selecting a lender to work with can open your eyes to many more support options available. With the appropriate financial support systems backing the decisions you make with your money, you can meet almost any goal you wish to achieve.

6 Ways to Improve Your Net Worth

6 Ways to Improve Your Net Worth

iQuanti: When people think about improving their net worth, they usually think about the lifestyle that comes with large amounts of money. The truth is, goal setting is not as active a way as others to grow your finances. Using home improvement or personal loans and paying off debts are just a few practical ways to build your net worth.

1. Use personal loans

Personal loans can be a great way to improve your financial situation and increase your net worth. Using personal loans to consolidate debt or improve your credit score can reduce the interest you pay on your debt in the short and long term.

2. Apply for a personal or home equity line of credit

Many lenders will allow you to borrow up to a maximum lump sum of money, and there are a couple of ways they'll let you do it. Lines of credit work almost like personal loans, except that there are usually borrowing and repayment periods as opposed to one lump sum deposit and installment payments. If you invest these funds into your home for improvements, you can reap tax benefits and potentially sell your home for much more than when you purchased it.

3. Pay off high-interest debt

Having debt can be advantageous, but you want to pay it off fast when you're able to. If possible, make extra payments on debts and loans to reduce the balance owed and improve your net worth. The more money you save by not paying as much in interest, the better.

4. Use home improvement loans

Home improvement loans are another great way to improve your financial situation and increase your net worth. Using home improvement loans to upgrade your home can increase the value of your home and make it more appealing to potential buyers. You can reap the same tax benefits discussed earlier, too.

5. Invest in appreciating assets

Saving money is always a good idea. High-yield savings accounts help your funds passively grow as you stash away cash. Be wary, though—there is a chance you'll lose your entire investment if you don't do enough research and invest poorly.

6. Stay disciplined with your spending

Understanding how much you make and how much you spend a month is the best place to start when considering ways to improve your net worth. If possible, live below your means and save money each month to grow your savings. Emergencies and accidents happen, and having a nest egg of funds can keep you on track as long as you save instead of spending when possible.

ADAPT Training Selects AMP to Digitize and Scale Industrial Performance Service Line
Predicting musculoskeletal risk, monitoring work-hardening programs, and mentoring physical laborers in lifestyle management are all part of the mission to contain costs, retain employees, and fortify supply chains

ADAPT Training, a leading provider of performance therapy, athletic training, and workplace wellness solutions, has tapped AMP, a cutting-edge engagement and business intelligence platform, to bolster its health, safety, and wellbeing programs for industrial laborers.

The partnership will allow ADAPT Training to scale its processes while showcasing a commitment to the latest in tech enablement as it relates to data and outcomes transparency. "We're incredibly excited about the industrial health market and our capacity to directly address injury prevention and human performance with AMP," said ADAPT CEO Jeff Nelson. "One doesn't have to look far to see the headlines of this specific worker population in terms of physical impacts and economic need. Employers cannot afford to have their employees nicked up, riding the bench or contemplating quitting because of physical issues that we believe are in large part preventable. With the right approach to vulnerability detection and intervention, employers can count on employees to be present, engaged, mentally and physically resilient, and determined to produce at the highest of levels — both in the workplace and in their homes and communities."

The collaboration between ADAPT Training and AMP underscores a common theme in today's services landscape: In order to keep pace with both employer requirements and employee expectations, service providers are evolving into tech-enabled service providers. ADAPT Training, in its mission to serve as "mechanics for the human body," will now be armed with a comprehensive platform to risk stratify a physical laborer's musculoskeletal capacity via motion capture, personalize a durability, strength and conditioning program, and lastly, empower the provider-employee relationship with real-time communication.

"This partnership with ADAPT is another specialty-specific opportunity for AMP's technology to assist service providers and employers in their efforts to drive employee wellbeing, reduce medical spend, and ensure a sustainable business," explained AMP CEO David Nichols. "We're extremely proud to be making this type of impact for all three stakeholders: the service provider, the employer, and the physical laborer."

Built with the best sports scientists and sports medicine practitioners to prepare elite athletes for competition, AMP empowers employee service providers with the risk management and cost containment tools necessary to adopt a proactive stance to overall worker health and wellbeing. An enterprise platform that scales to fit organizations of all sizes, it is customizable to suit a range of industries looking to engage employees in programs to keep them safe, strong, and productive. Working with elite partners to solve big problems in challenging environments is central to AMP's mission.

EcoClear Products Reports Its Pest Control Supplies are Unaffected, Following EPA Proposal Release

EcoClear Products Reports Its Pest Control Supplies are Unaffected, Following EPA Proposal Release
The company's pest control solutions, like RatX®, MouseX®, VoleX®, and MoleX® are formulated to only affect target species.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently found that several common pesticide ingredients pose a risk to humans, animals and the environment, and proposed new regulations that would impose restrictions on their use. EcoClear Products, maker of minimum-risk pesticides and cleansers, has reviewed the EPA action and announces that its pest control solutions, like RatX®, MouseX®, VoleX®, and MoleX®, do not include the targeted FGAR and SGAR ingredients.

"Our pest control products are formulated with FDA GRAS ingredients and are safe to use around non-target animals when used as directed," said Christopher Stidd, founder and CEO of EcoClear Products. "EcoClear Products has long been an industry leader in effective, poison-free pest control, and we continue to aim to educate industry leaders and various sectors through our extensive knowledge and research."

Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), EPA must review registered pesticides every 15 years, Stidd explained. The law ensures that as products and practices change, and as science develops a better ability to assess health risks, pesticides continue to meet the standard of causing no adverse effects on human health or the environment.

The most recent evaluation ruled that several common chemicals in pesticides are harming non-target animals and posing a risk to both humans and the environment. When the EPA identifies unreasonable adverse effects, it proposes amendments to pesticide labels to mitigate these risks.

The new EPA proposal suggests new measures be taken for 11 rodenticides currently on the market. Pesticide companies that use these chemicals would be required to remove them from their products, or, in some instances, a designated person from a pest control company would need to observe the area where the pesticide was used for a specific timeframe and report what animals died as a result.

EcoClear Products uses patented and proprietary compounds and processes, and its chemists continue to expand the company's green cleaning, odor-neutralizing, and minimum-risk pesticide products, Stidd said, reiterating that its pesticide offerings contain none of the ingredients the EPA has found to merit new protective measures.

Rodenticides are necessary because rodents cause significant damage to property, crops and food supplies across the country. They may also spread diseases, posing a serious risk to public health. Rodenticides are used in residential, agricultural and non-agricultural settings to control a variety of pests, including house mice, moles, ground squirrels and mongooses.

EcoClear Products is dedicated to researching, developing and perfecting non-poisonous pest management solutions available for home and business owners across the United States. To learn more about EcoClear Products, visit www.ecoclearproducts.com/pro.

Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, and Michael Fassbender are eyeing Nancy Meyers’ next movie

Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, and Michael Fassbender are eyeing Nancy Meyers’ next movie

Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, and Michael Fassbender are in talks to join Nancy Meyers’ Netflix project, Paris Paramount.

The filmmaker behind films like What Women WantThe Intern, and Something’s Gotta Give, Nancy Meyers, is assembling an A-list cast for her next movie. According to reports, Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, and Michael Fassbender could join Meyers’ next feature-length project insiders refer to as Paris Paramount.

We hear Johansson is circling the lead role, with sources saying the story revolves around a talented young writer/director who falls head over heels for a producer. After taking the entertainment industry by storm to do several successful projects, the couple ends their union romantically and professionally. Later, the duo finds themselves working alongside one another when a unique project crosses their path, forcing them back into an old routine plagued with complications and overbearing Hollywood personalities.

The plot shares similarities with Meyers’ Hollywood experience and her longtime romantic and professional relationship with Charles Shyer, another of Tinseltown’s writer-director-producer combos. Meyers and Shyer released Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, The Parent Trap, and Father of the Bride during their days as one of Hollywood’s power couples. After they broke up, Meyers developed Something’s Gotta Give, starring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton, Keanu Reeves, Francis McDormand, Amanda Peet, and Jon Favreau.

Meyers could break the bank with Paris Paramount. Reports indicate the film could cost $130 million to $150 million, making it the most expensive romantic comedy in Hollywood history. Previously, Jennifer Lawrence was in talks for the lead role previously, but she bowed out for unspecified reasons.

Paris Paramount is Meyers’ first feature-length project since 2015’s The Intern. Meyers directed and wrote the film starring Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Rene Russo, Adam Devine, and Anders Holm. The film focuses on a seventy-year-old widower (De Niro) who discovers that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. After he gets back into the game, becoming a senior intern for an online fashion site, he’s given a new outlook on life and love in a fast-paced world.

Are you intrigued by Nancy Meyers’ new project? Will more big names join the cast as production gets underway? The film is gearing up for a Netflix release, making the streaming platform the place to be if you need a Nancy Meyers fix.

With U.S. Health Systems Under Growing Pressure to Fill Staff Vacancies, CGFNS Alliance Releases Updated Standards for Ethical Recruitment of Foreign Health Workers

With U.S. Health Systems Under Growing Pressure to Fill Staff Vacancies, CGFNS Alliance Releases Updated Standards for Ethical Recruitment of Foreign Health Workers

As U.S. healthcare employers confront major staffing challenges, the Alliance for Ethical International Recruitment Practices, a division of CGFNS International, Inc. (CGFNS), has updated and strengthened its ethical recruitment code, which establishes best practice standards for fair and transparent recruitment of foreign-educated health professionals into the U.S.

The fourth edition of the Health Care Code for Ethical International Recruitment and Employment Practices, known as the "Alliance Code," strengthens recommendations around contract transparency and orientation programs. The Alliance Code was developed by a multistakeholder group representing interests across the sector, including employers, unions, recruiters, and representative nurse organizations.

It comes at a time when a growing global health worker shortage has left health systems struggling to fill vacancies and considering a variety of options, including sometimes turning to recruiting trained professionals from abroad. In the past five years, CGFNS has seen a doubling of its applications from foreign-trained health workers who are seeking eligibility to work in the U.S.

This trend has raised further concerns about ensuring that international recruitment practices are ethical, that they protect the rights of migrating health workers while establishing their obligations, and that recruiting agencies and employers are held accountable in the process. First published in 2008, the Alliance Code is reviewed and updated every five years to adapt to changes in the recruitment landscape and ensure its provisions continue to address basic rights and responsibilities of both migrating health professionals and those who recruit them to work in the U.S. The Code provides guidelines for recruitment agencies and employers, addressing migrant rights including the right to receive a fair contract, to provide informed consent and to access justice.

The Code has been voluntarily adopted by 12 firms that collectively recruit thousands of employees each year and that have undergone the Alliance's rigorous certification process, including a contract review and health professional survey. A list of recruitment firms that have been certified as in compliance with the Alliance Code can be found here

The 2023 Alliance Code is being released after a year of internal and external review by the Alliance's Board of Governors.

"With the recent pandemic having further driven the growth in global demand for nurses and other health workers, there is increasing concern about ensuring that international recruitment processes are ethical and sustainable," said Alliance Director, Mukul Bakhshi, JD. "This updated 2023 Code reflects recent changes in the recruiting landscape, and we hope it will help push the industry forward in ensuring that recruitment practices are fair and respect basic rights."

"Our organization has been engaged in the work of the Alliance since its inception and fully endorses the Alliance Code," said AONL Chief Executive Officer, Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, Chief Executive Officer of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL). "A fair and equitable process of recruiting foreign-educated nurses is foundational to achieving a professional practice environment for all nurses. We remain committed to the advancement of high standards of treatment for all staff."

"As the global leader in international credentials evaluation to support health worker mobility, at CGFNS we know that health worker migration into the U.S. brings individuals with critical skills to provide life-saving care. With the shortage persisting and employers stepping up their recruitment of foreign-trained nurses and other health workers, we must all work together to provide better protections to prevent exploitation," said CGFNS President and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Preziosi, PhD, RN, CAE. "We are proud of our work through the Alliance to continue to do our part to support nurses coming into the U.S."

Longlegs: Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood join the cast of Nicolas Cage horror film

Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood have joined Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe in the cast of Osgood Perkins’ horror movie Longlegs

Two weeks ago, we heard that Longlegs, the latest horror project from The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Gretel & Hansel director Osgood Perkins, has racked up distribution deals with multiple companies around the world. Now Deadline has revealed the names of two actors who have joined previously announced leads Nicolas Cage (Prisoners of the Ghostland) and Maika Monroe (It Follows) in the cast: they are Alicia Witt (Urban Legend) and Blair Underwood (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). Details on the characters Witt and Underwood are playing in the movie have not been shared.

The story Perkins wrote for Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.” Monroe is taking on the role of FBI Agent Lee Harker, a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.

Cage has said the film is about “a character who’s hearing voices. It’s kind of like a possessed Geppetto, who’s making these dolls”. Production is currently underway in Vancouver, Canada. Cage is producing Longlegs through his company Saturn Films, which recently had success with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and Pig. Also producing are Dan Kagan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan, and Chris Ferguson. Jason Cloth and Fred Berger of Automatik serve as executive producers with John Friedberg of Black Bear International.

In addition to directing the films mentioned at the top of this article, Perkins directed an episode of the recent revival of The Twilight Zone. He has also worked on the screenplays for the thriller Removal, the crime thriller Cold Comes the Night, and the horror film The Girl in the Photographs.

Are you interested in Longlegs? What do you think about Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood joining Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe in the cast? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I haven’t really been a fan of Perkins’ movies, but I’ve been sold on Longlegs ever since we heard that Cage had signed on.
