The Voice Finalist Morgan Myles Joins the Glioblastoma Foundation® as a Celebrity Ambassador to Raise Awareness and Funding for Glioblastoma
The Glioblastoma Foundation® launched a new awareness campaign today featuring Morgan Myles as the celebrity ambassador with the goal of raising awareness of Glioblastoma — the most lethal and common form of brain cancer.

Morgan Myles was a top three finalist on the latest season of NBC's The Voice, and now she is hopeful to use her voice in a different way — to share her family's story and bring more awareness to the work that the Glioblastoma Foundation is doing to assist patients in their fight against this aggressive cancer.

While on The Voice, Myles dedicated her semi-final performance of Lady Gaga's "Remember Us This Way" in memory of her cousin Mac and her grandfather — both of whom she tragically lost to Glioblastoma.

"It was a deeply felt loss for my family," said Myles. "Mac was so young, with so much life to live. I wanted to stay strong for Mac and my family and stay hopeful.

"I channeled everything I was going through with losing Mac into my music. I'm proud to use my platform to bring increased awareness to Glioblastoma and the work of the Glioblastoma Foundation."

Myles is featured in a digital campaign highlighting the urgent need for funding to support the development of new, more effective treatments to help Glioblastoma patients live longer and more comfortably.

Glioblastoma is the most common and most deadly form of brain cancer, with an overall five-year survival rate of just 5 percent. Each year, over 15,000 people are diagnosed with Glioblastoma and half of those diagnosed pass away within one year.

While Glioblastoma has received more attention in recent years due to the introduction of Glioblastoma Awareness Day in 2019 — more public education and research funding is desperately needed.

"We are so grateful to Morgan for sharing her story with us, and for her efforts to bring more awareness and urgency to this deadly disease, for which we desperately need increased funding for new, more effective treatments," said Gita Kwatra, PharmD, MBA, and CEO of the Glioblastoma Foundation.

"The current standard of care for Glioblastoma falls short. Every dollar donated to the Glioblastoma Foundation can make a difference and help fund essential research that will lead to better treatment options and, ultimately, a cure," explained Gita.

Castle Connolly Releases Castle Connolly Top Black Doctors 2023

Castle Connolly Releases Castle Connolly Top Black Doctors 2023
For first time, list recognizes 114 leading black doctors in the nation

Castle Connolly today announced the release of Castle Connolly Top Black Doctors 2023, the first time it has recognized exceptional black doctors in the Castle Connolly network. There are 114 doctors represented, across 20 states and 45 specialties.

The new distinction is part of Castle Connolly's Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Initiative designed to honor top clinicians and enable patients to find Castle Connolly Top Doctors who have shared backgrounds and experiences. As part of this initiative, Castle Connolly surveyed its current Top Doctors (top 7% of physicians in the U.S., all nominated by peers), to share information about their race/ethnicity, gender and sexual identity. Additionally, Castle Connolly has updated its nomination process moving forward to include pertinent questions related to diversity.

"We know that patients want to connect with the best physicians in the country, and they want the best care. But they also might want to connect with physicians who are culturally similar to them," said Dr. Jacqueline Jones, an associate professor of Clinical Otolaryngology at Weill Cornell Medical Center, managing partner of Park Avenue ENT, member, Castle Connolly Advisory Board and executive sponsor of the DEI Initiative. "That connection can be established on so many different levels - whether it's by walking into a room and seeing someone who looks like you, or speaks the same language as you do, or having a doctor who understands where you came from and the cultural significance of your illness. Castle Connolly Top Black Doctors was created to honor the importance of this connection."

A new survey from Everyday Health and Castle Connolly that looks at what patients want most in their doctors showed variations by race. The survey involved 1,001 consumers and 277 healthcare professionals. Almost a third of white patients said their top priority was the ability to listen to questions and concerns, while this was the most important trait for just 20 percent of Black patients. Meanwhile, Black patients were nearly twice as likely as white patients to completely agree that they would be more comfortable and more likely to listen to advice from physicians who shared their race or ethnicity or sexual orientation.

"For patients, having access to a doctor with a similar background or shared experience can improve the quality of care and positively impact health outcomes," said Steve Leibforth, Managing Director, Castle Connolly. "At Castle Connolly, we are committed to advancing DEI and to promoting and embracing our diversity. We are proud to recognize these leading top black doctors and encourage all consumers to do their research to ensure that they are receiving optimal care."

All Castle Connolly Top Black Doctors are nominated by their peers, and then the Castle Connolly research team evaluates important criteria to determine who makes the list, including professional qualifications, education, hospital and faculty appointments, research leadership, professional reputation, disciplinary history, interpersonal skills and outcomes data (where available).

In addition to Castle Connolly Top Black Doctors, Castle Connolly will launch other new recognitions in 2023, including:

  • Exceptional Women in Medicine (March)
  • Top Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Doctors (May)
  • Top LGBTQ+ Doctors (June)
  • Top Hispanic/Latin Doctors (September)

About Castle Connolly

Sound Physicians Launches Long-Term Care Accountable Care Organization

Sound Physicians Launches Long-Term Care Accountable Care Organization

Sound Physicians, a physician-founded and led medical group with national reach and local focus, has launched Sound Long-Term Care Management (SLTCM), the group's first accountable care organization (ACO). SLTCM is a Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Enhanced Track ACO and will concentrate on caring for Medicare beneficiaries who are residents of long-term care facilities — one of the most underserved populations in the U.S.

"Our ACO model focuses on the most vulnerable, highest acuity, and under-supported Medicare population by bringing together clinicians, facilities, data, and technology to drive quality," said Mike Camacho, President, Accountable Care, for Sound Physicians. "When we lead with quality, patient care will improve."

Officially approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the ACO launched Jan. 1.

Under the leadership of Camacho and John Dickey, MD, Chief Medical Officer of SLTCM, Sound will draw from its decade of value-based care expertise to help participating physicians and facilities improve performance. Of the 1.3 million long-term care residents in the U.S., less than 10 percent are enrolled in a population health program. The complexity, lack of access, and high cost of treating these individuals have typically left them out of the mix when it comes to population health initiatives such as ACOs.

"We're managing a very complex patient population," said Camacho, noting that preliminary data from Medicare shows the patient mortality rate at 27.25 percent, compared to the national community-based ACOs of 3.15 percent. SLTCM patients are battling septicemia, dementia, and other catastrophic diseases at a rate 11 to 15 times greater than the average Medicare ACO beneficiary. For SLTCM, working hand in hand with providers and facilities can make a significant positive impact on care for these patients.

With the cost of care per beneficiary at $35,000 annually, there's a significant opportunity to reduce the financial burden — on patients and the healthcare system overall. Sound's goal is to improve patients' quality of life and reduce costs through annual wellness visits, chronic care management, and point-of-care technology, as well as employing Sound's telemedicine solution broadly in skilled nursing facilities to help prevent avoidable admissions and readmissions by treating patients in place. Sound's telemedicine program overall has demonstrated a 96 percent success rate with treating patients at its facility versus having to admit them to the hospital.

"It really does extend Sound's vision to meet our patients who are most in need," said Dr. Dickey.

Sound's core value of innovation was a guiding force in developing the SLTCM care management model. Leveraging two decades of Sound's clinical performance process, the model will help hundreds of physicians and their facility partners achieve quality metrics with education, resources, workflows, technology, and improved care coordination. And Sound's near-real-time data reports for participating physicians will help adjust course and drive behavior changes to align toward consistently better patient care.

About Sound Physicians

We're a team of motivated clinicians practicing across hospital and emergency medicine, critical care, anesthesia, and telemedicine. For more than 22 years, our partners have benefitted from our high-performing physicians, advanced practice providers, and CRNAs innovating and leading through an ever-changing landscape — with patients at the center of our healthcare universe. Our aim is to exceed expectations when it comes to clinical and operational priorities — and how we care for patients throughout and beyond the acute care episode.

Our more than 4,000 clinicians in 400-plus hospitals across 45 states are focused locally on building programs that blend our unique training, tools, technology, and support to take better care of patients in the communities we serve.

Amid Global Health Worker Shortage, CGFNS Assembles Board of Experts to Advise on Next-Generation Solutions to Streamline International Mobility for Health Workers

Amid Global Health Worker Shortage, CGFNS Assembles Board of Experts to Advise on Next-Generation Solutions to Streamline International Mobility for Health Workers

With a global health worker shortage accelerating the demand for internationally educated nurses in industrialized countries, CGFNS International, a global leader in credentials evaluation to support health worker mobility, has established an advisory board of experts to help the organization support the needs of a growing cadre of migrating health professionals.

The Global Advisory Board on Pathways to Mobility for Health Workers - comprising 11 accomplished leaders in health worker credentialing, e-learning systems and digital credentialing technologies - will convene over the next four months to help establish a vision and a roadmap for the future of verifying and promoting the knowledge-based practice competencies of health workers.

Given recent trends identified in the CGFNS Nurse Migration Report 2022: Trends in Healthcare Migration to the United States, applications through the organization's VisaScreen® Service have more than doubled over the past five years, as the growing health worker shortage has left health systems struggling to fill vacancies. Meanwhile, BMJ Global Health estimated a worldwide shortfall of 15 million health workers in 2020.

In light of this shortage, many health systems are under pressure to accelerate hiring and will turn to internationally qualified health professionals seeking to migrate. At the same time, these highly technically skilled professionals must be properly evaluated, qualified and credentialed to perform the work that is critical to patient safety and quality of care.

"Increasing global mobility among nurses and other health professionals is vitally important to ensuring that they can be hired wherever and whenever they are needed. Verifying previous training and credentials of migrating nurses is a complicated process critically important to patient safety, but amid the nursing shortage there is a growing need to make it quicker, more efficient, more secure and to harden it against fraud," said CGFNS President and CEO Peter Preziosi.

"Fortunately, emerging technologies and practice innovations offer the promise of globally-available digital credentials or badges that are more secure and more easily verifiable across borders," said Preziosi. "Whether it's automating manual verification of licenses and transcripts, or developing online methods of assessing knowledge in both clinical and desktop settings, the challenge is to ensure that these solutions raise the bar for quality of care and patient safety."

"Guided by a commitment to standards, we need to drive our industry toward further developing and adopting these types of solutions as quickly as possible, and with our new advisory board we are bringing together some of the best minds from credentialing, edtech and digital innovation to help point the way on this highly complex issue," he added.

The Global Advisory Board on Pathways to Mobility for Health Workers will convene three times by mid-year. It will seek ways to expand and support collaborative efforts to build a new framework for testing and credential verification solutions on a global scale, thereby strengthening career development and health systems worldwide.

Members of the board are listed below. Further information about them can be found at cgfns.org/global-advisory-board:

  • Jay Cannon, Partner, Trinisys
  • Kathy Chappell, Senior VP, American Nurses Credentialing Center
  • Rina Desai, Principal/Owner, Eigen X and Trifactor

  • Cynthia Johansen, Registrar & Chief Executive Officer, British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Brigette Lumpkins, Business Development, Stax
  • Martin Lund, Founder & CTO, RSVP/SM Solutions
  • Jyllene Miller, Global Growth Executive

HTVRONT Auto Heat Press Earns Kickstarter ‘Project We Love’ Badge

HTVRONT Auto Heat Press Earns Kickstarter ‘Project We Love’ Badge
During the 45-day crowdfunding campaign, HTVRONT sold over 5,000 Auto Heat Press worldwide, raising around $1.1 million

HTVRONT, an experienced and innovative brand, completed its first crowdfunding campaign with the most advanced household Heat Press Machine on Kickstarter, the world's biggest online funding platform, in August 2022, and earned the "'Project We Love'" badge due to the incredible raising speed and amount of funding.

This event was from July 6, 2022, to Aug. 20, 2022, a sum of 45 days. Thanks to its previous successful advertisement and propaganda online, the HTVRONT Auto Heat Press achieved full funding within only ten minutes and reached more than 700% of funds in two days, hitting the top several in Kickstarter rank.

This advanced gadget features an intelligent lifting structure, which can exert a proper force automatically on a variety of materials with thicknesses up to 2.5mm, and seven fast ironing modes magnifying productivity, introducing a new era of household crafting machines. Additionally, its 2x faster heating speed than other counterparts makes HTVRONT Auto Heat Press a must-have for many small businesses.

Following the huge success on Kickstarter, the HTVRONT Auto Heat Press has now entered the vision of more craft enthusiasts. In this campaign, HTVRONT secured around 5,000 supporters for itself and earned 85% praise from the users, who think that the heat press machine is easy to assemble and use with really fast and even heat distribution.

One of the 5-star users on Amazon commented: "Purchased this for my wife and daughter to use with their crafts. Easy to set up as there wasn't anything I needed to do but remove the unit from the well-packaged box. Heats up fast and gives great results without having to manually open and close the lid. The sliding tray is a huge help in loading and unloading projects. The controls are fairly straightforward as well. I would recommend this unit to other beginners as it takes a lot of the guesswork out."

Most customers would like to praise the smart, easy device for its drawer design. One wrote: "With the drawer, it's also safe to use and practically eliminates the chance of accidental burns," implicating the high security that HTVRONT had taken into account.

As the New Year comes by, the second HTVRONT Fans Carnival, its biggest anniversary sale online, will soon start from April 6 to 12, 2023. In addition, HTVRONT is about to meet its supporters offline in Charlotte, US, on April 27, 2023. This local event will be a chance to demonstrate the whole new heat press machine for cups and mugs and make a debut.

Dr. Willie Jolley and his wife, Dee, share secrets that they used to help couples all over the world to improve their marriages. The Jolleys initially shared their marriage secrets in their book called Make Love, Make Money, Make It Last! and now share their powerful system in a new TED Talk entitled, "How to Never Argue in Marriage Again."

They have been married for almost 40 years and have not had an argument in 35 years. Their new TED Talk is being heralded as a "must-see" message for all married couples and singles who aspire to get married.

After a huge argument about Chinese food 35 years ago, the Jolleys realized that something had to change if their marriage was going to survive.

They developed some rules of engagement on how to disagree without being disagreeable, and it transformed their marriage. They created the "4F Formula," the dynamic keys to having critical conversations in marriage. This process allows couples to work through problems without threats, yelling or arguing. It has helped thousands of couples around the world stop arguing.

Marriage can be a challenge. Statistics show 50 percent of marriages in the United States end in divorce. The remainder of those couples are often miserable.

Smile Digital Health (Smile), a leading FHIR® health data fabric (HDF) and exchange solutions provider, announced its HDF platform is now available on AWS GovCloud (US), an isolated Amazon Web Services (AWS) Region designed to host sensitive data and regulated workloads in the cloud, helping customers support their US government compliance requirements, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) High baseline requirements.

The availability of Smile's HDF solutions on AWS GovCloud allows for secure data sharing in near-real time for government agencies who are required to meet federal regulations when working with and sharing healthcare data. Smile's platform ingests HL7® health data standards as well as non-standard data and converts it into the FHIR standard. Information to be leveraged from the platform can remain in FHIR format, or another HL7 data standard while AWS GovCloud ensures customers adhere to the FedRAMP requirements.

FedRAMP is a federal program that ensures a high level of information security when it comes to protecting some of the federal government's most sensitive unclassified data in cloud computing environments.

"This growth in our relationship with AWS further emphasizes our commitment to be the most trusted health data fabric platform in the market. This expansion allows us to provide our U.S. Federal customers the highest level of security while accessing cloud-native capabilities.
