ZetrOZ Systems will demonstrate the effectiveness of its sam®x1 and sam®2.0 sustained acoustic medicine devices for soft tissue injury therapies at the Las Vegas Regenerative Medicine and MSK Ultrasound Course, the longest-running medical education seminar of its kind, from Jan. 26 to 28 in Las Vegas.

The sam®x1 is the first FDA-cleared pain management device of its kind cleared for everyday, at-home use, and the sam®2.0 is the long-duration solution. Both are wearable pain relief ultrasound devices that inhibit inflammation and accelerate natural healing by stimulating tissue regeneration, increasing circulation, and nutrient exchange in deep musculoskeletal tissue.

The multiple-day educational course, at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, welcomes hundreds of practitioners as varied as orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, PM&R physicians, pain management physicians, interventional radiologists, rheumatologists, physical therapists, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, podiatrists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, diagnostic sonographers and more.

"The Las Vegas Regenerative Medicine and MSK Ultrasound Course brings in leading physicians and other practitioners who will speak on the administration of ultrasound technology and its many benefits - it offers patients options beyond pain medication or surgery," says Dr. George Lewis, founder and CEO of ZetrOZ Systems. "We're incredibly excited to attend and bring awareness of our innovative pain relief ultrasound device portfolio to more healthcare professionals."

The first day of the program will be dedicated to reviewing scientific updates, new regulations, and best practices of the orthopedic discipline. The last two days will focus on practical ultrasound operation, and ZetrOZ Systems sam®x1 and sam®2.0 will be joining the lineup of medical treatment options available for clinicians to review and apply.

Backed by more than 30 clinical studies, sam® technology was developed with research funded by the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Department of Defense with the intent of finding new methods of soft tissue healing that reduce the use of narcotics and invasive treatments.

Pediatric Resources for Sexual Abuse Prevention Launched by The Mama Bear Effect

Pediatric Resources for Sexual Abuse Prevention Launched by The Mama Bear Effect
Call for pediatric involvement in primary prevention to address sexual victimization of children. Over 90% of parents agree that pediatricians should be discussing sexual abuse prevention with the families they serve.

In response to the critical need of the medical and pediatric community for sexual abuse prevention resources, The Mama Bear Effect charitable organization announced, after over a year of development, free Pediatric Kits are now available for pediatricians and medical centers serving children to help educate medical professionals, parents, and children.

"Child sexual abuse is an epidemic, with a conservative estimate of 10% of children at risk of abuse to potentially as many as 25% of girls and 16% of boys. Parents and caregivers want their pediatricians to educate them on sexual abuse prevention. We know this through the results of the recently published 2023 Parental and Caregiver Perspectives on Child Sexual Abuse Prevention study conducted with parents across the country. However, only 10% of pediatricians and family practitioners are estimated to be raising awareness about this epidemic with families, putting children at increased risk for abuse and a myriad of health consequences," said Adrianne Simeone, founder of The Mama Bear Effect.

Support from Pediatric Community

Each Pediatric Kit includes a Pediatric Best Practices Guide, co-written with Dr. Martin Finkel, Professor Emeritus of the CARES Center at the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine.

As the founding co-director of the Child Abuse Research Education Services Institute and dedicating 40 years of my career to the issues of child sexual abuse," Dr. Finkel maintains, "it is clear that pediatricians and medical professionals serve a critical role in educating families to help prevent sexual abuse. We cannot effectively improve children's outcomes without addressing the risk of sexual abuse."

National Support

Funding for the pediatric kits was supported in part by Indianapolis-based nonprofit kNot Today, founded by Linda and Frank Reich. "We are elated with the work of their Pediatric Best Practice Guide and look forward to sharing resources here in Indiana and beyond. Starting the conversations with parents and giving them resources are key to protecting children," shared Alyssa Van Vactor, Executive Director of kNot Today.

Pediatric Kit Availability

Pediatric Kits are available for order through The Mama Bear Effect site: www.TheMamaBearEffect.org/pediatrics. If a medical center wishes to receive a free kit, they are invited to schedule a short meeting to discuss the survey participation required for the donation.

Founded in 2012, The Mama Bear Effect is a nationally recognized leader in child sexual abuse prevention education, partnering with child and family agencies across the country. A wide range of resources are available at TheMamaBearEffect.org, as well as a best-selling children's body safety book, My Body is Special and Private, on Amazon, and other printed educational materials for purchase.

SpendMend Achieves Record Growth and Strategic Investments in 2022
SpendMend sets company growth records in 2022 while receiving multiple strategic investments and completing multiple acquisitions.

SpendMend

SpendMend

SpendMend, a leading provider of cost-saving solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced record earnings in 2022, marking their fourth consecutive year of over 30% revenue growth. The company saw a 20% increase in employee count and a healthy increase in clients to over 150 major U.S. health systems, comprising over 3,000 hospitals and facilities. Clients also shared in the good news, enjoying a 32% increase in hard dollar savings delivered to their bottom line as compared to the previous year.

In addition to the strong growth indicators, SpendMend completed several major deals throughout the calendar year of 2022. The company secured a controlling investment from Morgan Stanley Capital Partners ("MSCP"), joined by additional investments from Corewell/Spectrum Health Ventures and Memorial Hermann Health System.

"For several years, SpendMend has been establishing a new critical segment for the healthcare industry, the Cost-Cycle," states Steve Rodgers, Managing Director and Head of Healthcare at MSCP. "In 2022, we saw accelerated adoption in this growing segment; hospitals and health systems are using SpendMend's emerging cost-cycle platform as an effective strategy to drive significant bottom-line revenue and cost-savings while managing through pricing pressure, supply chain delays, and other lingering effects of the pandemic."

SpendMend, in the past year, expanded its cost-cycle platform through the acquisition of three leading healthcare providers including: VIE Healthcare Consulting, a leading cost consultant for hospitals; Trulla, a next-generation pharmacy procurement platform; and finally, the healthcare division of Moody Associates, P.A., a provider of profit recovery and contract-compliance services.

Through their innovative suite of cost-cycle solutions, SpendMend helped U.S. healthcare networks to illuminate the "dark data" in their cost-cycle, unlocking trapped dollars and improving operations and overall efficiency.

"Controlling costs is arguably the biggest challenge facing health systems across the country today," said Scott McLean, Managing Director at Corewell/Spectrum Health Ventures. "Simply put, SpendMend's suite of cost-cycle solutions helps hospitals reduce costs and optimize future savings. SpendMend is a perfect fit for the Corewell/Spectrum portfolio, and they are fast becoming an indispensable partner for U.S. Health Systems."

"For years, we have been guided by a mission to positively impact patient care by delivering value to our clients through our innovative cost-saving solutions," states SpendMend founder and CEO, Dan Geelhoed. "Through that lens, I believe our biggest success from the past year was watching our clients invest the bottom-line benefits of our work back into their patient communities."

About SpendMend

SpendMend is the leading provider of tech-enabled, cost-savings solutions in the healthcare industry. By combining data, proprietary technology, and analytics with healthcare expertise, SpendMend partners with healthcare networks to expose and improve hidden costs in meaningful ways. The company's mission is to help its clients improve patient care through innovative cost-saving solutions.

AIMS 2.0 Uses RFID to Bring Next-Day Eyewear Delivery to Independent Eye Doctors

AIMS 2.0 Uses RFID to Bring Next-Day Eyewear Delivery to Independent Eye Doctors
Frame Source and SimplyRFiD partner to bring eyewear order management to independent optometrists. Eye doctors use the AIMS online system to drop-ship complete orders with prescription from a catalog of more than 100,000 frames from leading manufacturers.

AIMS Version 2 Next-Day Eyewear for Eye Docs

AIMS Version 2 brings the power of the internet and RFID to independent eye doctors with next-day prescription-filled glasses.

SimplyRFiD, in partnership with Frame Source Group, released AIMS version 2. Launched on Jan. 23, 2023, AIMS v2 brings the latest in RFID inventory, order management, and next-day service to patients expecting fast service for eyewear.

Traditionally, optometrist offices stock 1,000 to 3,000 unique frames. Customers select a frame and that frame is sent to a lab for prescription lenses.

Replacement frames must be re-ordered manually from a manufacturer. This process removes the 'best frame' for 2-4 weeks. Additionally, customers wait for up to two weeks while the frame goes from the doctor to a lab for processing.

"Ever wonder why the frame you want or saw on a celebrity isn't there? Because 'best sellers' only last on the board for one day!" said Greg Smith, head of sales for Frame Source. "With AIMS, the best sellers go back on the board, and AIMS handles ordering a fresh frame directly from the manufacturer. With AIMS, the best frames are always in stock."

AIMS is directly integrated with 17 manufacturers sending stock levels and providing online ordering and drop shipping for optometrists.

Integrated Manufacturers:

  • A&A *
  • Charmant *
  • Design Eyewear
  • Eight to Eighty Eyewear *
  • Europa *
  • Iconyx *
  • Kenmark *
  • L'Amy *
  • Luxottica
  • Match Eyewear *
  • Modern Optical *
  • MODO *
  • Mondottica *
  • Morel *
  • Riserva/FSD *
  • Tura *
  • WestGroupe *

* offer same-day shipping on all frame orders and more are expected to be ready shortly.

These manufacturers represent the top brands with more than 100,000 frame choices between them. Sample brands include Ann Taylor, Burberry, Chanel, Dolce, Oakley, Persol, Ralph Lauren, Ray-Ban, Riserva, SuperFlex and hundreds more.

AIMS v2 gives independent eye doctors the ability to compete with online retailers by offering in-person try-ons, fast delivery, and a huge selection.

New in V2:

  • Direct order: New frames/lenses come from the manufacturer, allowing doctors to sell the best frame several times a day, increasing customers' satisfaction that the product they want is in stock.
  • Velocity Reports: Sell-through reports show which frames sell the fastest with the best margins. Low-selling products can be adjusted using frame allocation.
  • Frame Allocation and Board Management: Doctors can set levels by vendor to ensure vendors are keeping the top sellers available to their customers.
  • Cost Management: Frames are ordered as they are sold. No more bulk deliveries of 100 'new frames' that no one remembers ordering.

AIMS v2 is an extension of SimplyRFiD's #1 Wave RFID Retail Inventory system and developed in partnership since 2020.

AIMS v2 is available now from Frame Source Group at www.framesourcegroup.com. Systems start at $3,000.

Announcing the 2023 Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) annual list of U.S.-based employers, universities and sites that meet the program's National Standard of Excellence by providing exceptional commuter benefits and collectively changing how more than two million employees and students commute to and from work each day.

2023 Best Workplaces for Commuters list: www.bestworkplaces.org

More than 600 workplaces have been named to the 2023 Best Workplaces for Commuters list, a record-breaking year for the organization. The list includes Best Workplaces, Best Universities and Best Sites for Commuters across the U.S. continuing to provide high-level commuter benefits.

"This year we are excited to announce a record-breaking list of workplaces," said Julie Bond, Program Manager for Best Workplaces for Commuters. "Employers that make this list demonstrate an exemplary commitment to their employees, offering commute programs, like telework, discounted transit passes, and bicycle-friendly amenities, that empower their employees to be successful at work while also supporting their individual needs."

This year, BWC announced the new 2023 "Commuter Benefits Guide for Employer Fringe Benefits." Commuter benefits encourage American workers to get to and from work in ways that reduce air pollution, improve public health, increase worker productivity, and reduce expenses and taxes for employers and employees. BWC also recognizes telework as a key benefit of a successful employee commuter benefits package, helping increase program adoption nationally.

To receive the designation, employers submit an application to demonstrate they promote transportation choices for employees that meet the BWC National Standard of Excellence. BWC members receive national recognition and access to an array of support services to strengthen their commuter programs, including webinars, benchmark surveys, guidebooks, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities. BWC also provides tools to help workplaces assess how commuter programs benefit their organizations, their employees, and the environment.

About Best Workplaces for Commuters

Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) is the national authority on recognizing and assisting workplaces that provide exceptional commuter benefits to employees. More than a recognition program, BWC provides the necessary assistance to create and sustain employer-provided commuter benefit programs, and offers recognition and tailored support for employers, universities, and sites. The program is hosted by the National Institute for Congestion Relief (NICR) at the University of South Florida with support from the Florida Department of Transportation. Plantd Secures $10M in Series A Funding to Commercialize Carbon Negative Building Materials

Plantd Secures M in Series A Funding to Commercialize Carbon Negative Building Materials
Plantd's proprietary low carbon-emissions production technology transforms fast-growing perennial grass into durable home construction products.

Revolutionary sustainable building materials company Plantd is making waves in the construction industry with the announcement of its $10 million Series A funding round. Led by American Family Ventures, the funding solidifies Plantd's position as a pioneer in carbon-negative building materials.

"We are thrilled to back this exceptional and visionary team," said Kyle Beatty, Managing Director at American Family Ventures. "Plantd is creating fundamentally better construction materials that are cost-effective and truly carbon negative. We have been impressed by how they have reinvented every step of the production process from first principles, all the way from input material to logistics."

Plantd's production team is led by co-founders and engineers Huade Tan and Nathan Silvernail, who worked together for years at SpaceX designing and building key systems and components of the Dragon cargo and crew spacecraft. Together with co-founder and CEO Josh Dorfman, a serial entrepreneur and longtime sustainability leader, Plantd is redefining the value chain for engineered building materials.

Plantd's proprietary low carbon-emissions production technology transforms fast-growing perennial grass into durable, carbon-negative building materials that outperform competitive products on key attributes, including strength and moisture resistance.

Starting with structural panel products for walls and roofs, Plantd will fabricate building materials that are a direct substitute for traditional home construction products and require no alternative installation techniques. By cultivating fast-growing perennial grass instead of cutting down trees and pioneering novel production technology to minimize carbon emissions, Plantd Structural Panels™ retain 80% of the atmospheric carbon dioxide captured in the field, which is then locked away inside the walls and roofs of new homes.

"We can't move quickly enough to solve climate change unless we develop profitable methods to take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere," said Dorfman. "We're going to change an industry by offering builders a better product at the same price and, in the process, scale a business that can help save the planet."

Building with Plantd materials enables home builders to offer their customers homes that are affordable, durable, and sustainable. And by sequestering atmospheric carbon dioxide within structural frames, homes built with Plantd materials will play a key role in solving climate change.

Plantd will use this round of funding to establish their agriculture supply chain and build the first-of-its-kind, modular automated continuous press for engineered building materials. The company is currently working with the nation's largest builders and architects to integrate these materials into their projects and quickly make them a standard in the industry.

Plantd's ultimate vision is to build the factory of the future, ensuring that new homes and buildings contribute to reversing the effects of climate change.
