Saw X producers regret killing Jigsaw so early in the franchise, admitting that it might have been a mistake.
Horror movie villains can survive just about anything, with Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and many more returning from the dead time and time again. However, when it comes to the Saw franchise, the dead stay dead, and that includes the man himself — Jigsaw (Tobin Bell).
Although Jigsaw is back in theaters with Saw X, the character actually died over fifteen years ago in Saw III, which franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules now regret. In an interview with IndieWire, the pair said that Jigsaw’s death is the one creative choice they regret. “If I had to do it again, I might not have killed Tobin Bell in ‘Saw III,’” Burg said. “That might have been a mistake.” Thanks to flashbacks, Tobin Bell was able to reprise the role of Jigsaw in every subsequent Saw sequel, with the exception of Spiral, but it’s not hard to imagine what could have been had they kept him alive just a little longer.
Saw X is already off to a good start at the box office, taking in $2 million in Thursday night previews. It’s also received the best reviews of the franchise by far, which begs the question: will there be another sequel/prequel? “We’re superstitious, so we’ve never talked about the following ‘Saw’ until the previous movie opens,” Burg said. “So if this movie works on October 2, we’ll sit down. We left it open-ended, and I want to see what happens next.“
“John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back. The most chilling installment of the SAW franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game,” reads the official Saw X synopsis. “Set between the events of SAW I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.“
Saw X is now playing in theaters, so be sure to check out a review from our own Tyler Nichols.

MindRiot Entertainment are developing a movie about the OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy which claimed five lives.
Deadline reports that MindRiot Entertainment is developing a movie based on the OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy, which caught the attention of the world in June 2023.
The OceanGate Titan submersible lost contact with its mothership nearly two hours into its deep-sea dive near the wreckage of the Titanic. A massive search took place in an attempt to locate the submersible and rescue the occupants before their air ran out, but four days later, debris was discovered that led investigators to believe the vehicle had imploded, claiming the lives of all five onboard: OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British businessman Hamish Harding, former French Navy diver Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman.
Mindriot’s Justin MacGregor and Jonathan Keasey will co-write the OceanGate movie, which will cover the periods before, during, and after the tragedy. “The Titan Tragedy is yet another example of a misinformed and quick-to-pounce system, in this case, our nonstop, 24-7 media cycle that convicts and ruins the lives of so many people without any due process,” Keasey said. “Our film will not only honor all those involved in the submersible tragedy, and their families, but the feature will serve as a vessel that also addresses a more macro concern about the nature of media today.“
Keasey added: “Truth is all that matters. And the world has a right to know the truth, always, not the salacious bait crammed down our throats by those seeking their five minutes of fame. Life is not black and white. It’s complicated. There’s nuance. Always nuance.” MindRiot is also developing a docuseries titled Salvaged, which will be based on the life of former Oceangate mission director Kyle Bingham.
After James Cameron commented on the tragedy, rumours spread that he would be making an OceanGate movie, but he quickly shot them down. “I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now,” Cameron wrote on X/Twitter. “I’m NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever.“

Black Book™, recognized for accurate, impartial customer satisfaction surveys in the healthcare services and software industries, conducted a comprehensive crowdsourced user poll to determine the highest-ranked medical transcription software systems and outsourced virtual scribe services. Clients rated Cary, NC- headquartered AQuity Solutions with the highest customer satisfaction and loyalty scores in the sweeping study of user experience again for a tenth year.
In total, 806 hospitals and 2,274 physician practices responded to the Black Book polls in Q2-Q4 2023, measuring how providers are dealing with future-proofing their technology, decreasing staffing costs, and resource shortages with state-of-the-art transcription software and outsourced solutions.
"Medical transcription has become a critical part of the clinical documentation process as vendors are tested with the challenges of supporting clients as they go through healthcare reform and the progressive move toward value-based reimbursement," said Doug Brown, Managing Partner of Black Book.
Studies evidenced that traditional EHR charting has led to a reduced quality of the patient encounter as reported by 96% of physicians and 92% of office staff survey respondents, as well as clinician burnout reconfirmed by 90% of responding physicians. Eighty-five percent of 1,120 healthcare consumers (patients) also surveyed in a Black Book panel poll indicated they are dissatisfied with the abbreviated time spent with their physician in their last exam, both in-office and through telemedicine.
Business office managers and physician administrators report, on average, 39% or more loss of practice revenue caused by increased down-coding and fewer patient visits, including telemedicine encounters, since 2019, a 20% increase over the 2022 polling period.
"When practices use virtual scribes, clinicians see a significant reduction in time expended in non-clinical tasks, reduced queues for patient visits, improved documentation, and coding quality, and enhanced patient satisfaction," said Brown.
Based on the aggregate client experience and customer satisfaction scores on 18 key performance indicators, AQuity ranked first across 12 of the surveyed subsets including:
Transcription Technology Software, Hospitals, and Inpatient Facility Practitioners.
Transcription Technology Software, Physicians, and Ambulatory Care.
Virtual/Outsourced Transcription Services, Hospitals, and Inpatient Facilities, Practitioners, and
Virtual/Outsourced Transcription Services, Physicians, and Ambulatory Care.
"AQuity is recognized repeatedly for the success of the company because it has built on a winning combination of unparalleled customer service, innovative applications of technology, reliability, and transparent processes by seamlessly integrating EHR, artificial intelligence, and documentation workflow," said Brown.
About Black Book™

The Soviflex™ self-retaining vaginal retractor is a revolutionary device designed to improve the repair of vaginal lacerations caused by childbirth. About 80% of women experience vaginal tearing during delivery, and obstetricians have traditionally needed to use one hand to hold open the vaginal walls to see and be able to repair the lacerations and the other hand to suture the tears. The Soviflex retractor helps to streamline this process with improved visualization and no need for a second set of hands.
The retractor has a balance of flexibility and elasticity, enabling easy insertion without applying undue force on sensitive vaginal tissues. It is self-retaining, freeing up both hands for the procedure. Made of soft silicone material, it is gentler for the patient than metal retractors. It also reduces the risk of needlesticks to the surgeon or teaching physician. There are two versions of the device to address different patient body types.
According to Dr. Valerie V. Gafori, MD, in San Diego, California, "The Soviflex is not only an elegant solution to improve vaginal repairs for practicing providers, it's also a great teaching aid; one doesn't need to use their hands to provide visualization for students. I wish I had this when I was teaching residents. The Soviflex is also incredibly helpful for deep vaginal sulcus tears."
The Soviflex self-retaining vaginal retractor is the perfect solution for obstetricians attending deliveries. For more information and to request a sample for evaluation, visit www.birchconcepts.com.

Benefunder has acquired Impactly, an industry-leading family office and foundation management system. We are happy to share that the transaction is final, the team and platform are now part of Benefunder, and the technology and services are being fully integrated.
About Impactly
Impactly was developed as a single true ledger for family offices and foundations that want to align their full capital stack along mission. Impactly’s first client was the Sobrato Organization, a large multi-generational family office in Silicon Valley, as a way to streamline workflows, deployment, and management of impact capital. It consolidates multiple systems into one and provides visibility across the organization, actionable insights, and the ability to collaborate across common areas of interest among family members.
The Sobrato Org’s primary focus areas are Economic Mobility & Development, Sustainable Agriculture, Oceans, Methane Abatement, Deforestation, Healthcare as well as other areas in which they are open to collaborating with other funders.
Impactly was developed by Eric Brisson, an accomplished entrepreneur, data scientist, philanthropist, impact investor, and member of the Sobrato family, along with his colleague and co-founder, Nick Foster, MBA. In a matter of two years, Nick and Eric were able to solve some of the most complex, pervasive problems facing family offices, helping their first client deploy more capital, faster, while uncovering critical insights into existing portfolios, and replacing multiple tools, saving time and costs.
What’s Next?
Benefunder will be commercializing and expanding Impactly’s user base in order to accelerate resource deployment among private funders. The Sobrato Org will continue to use Impactly as a founding client; Eric Brisson will be joining Benefunder’s board and will be deeply involved in the strategic development of the platform. Nick will be joining the team as a Director, leading Client Success, Support, and Product Development going forward. Impactly will operate as a stand-alone business unit within Benefunder, as well as part of an end-to-end client solution for resource deployment in tandem with Mandate Services and Capital Markets. Impactly will also become the reporting and management tools for Benefunder’s existing services.
We are also excited to share that the BQuest Foundation in San Diego has joined as the second user of the platform. Their primary focus is around climate, education and economic development, with an emphasis around solar power proliferation and CO2 reduction. They have been very innovative in pushing the envelope around deploying across various funding structures, including grants, loans, as well as program and mission-related investments, all of which are seamlessly managed on Impactly.
Big Picture
We’ve seen and heard from some of the largest and most sophisticated family offices and foundations who struggle with knowing whom to deploy capital to, how to properly evaluate opportunities, structuring transactions, managing them, and identifying other like-minded partners to work with. This is estimated to have left $10+ billion sidelined annually in philanthropy alone and does not include a likely much larger amount for impact investing. There is a growing trend of funders seeking to align their full capital stack along mission and Impactly is the first tool that allows them to manage both sides seamlessly. That’s why we’re incredibly excited about the opportunity to offer an end-to-end solution to support private funders and their impact objectives and to connect with other funders in a secure, discreet environment in order to solve major societal challenges. Impactly closes the loop for us in providing support during every step of the deployment process and we believe it will be the perfect compliment to our existing Mandate and Capital Markets services. Starting with stalwarts in the impact space like The Sobrato Org and BQuest Foundation will help us grow our capabilities, networks, and reach exponentially.
About Benefunder
Benefunder is an end-to-end solution for family offices and private foundations that want to deploy philanthropic and impact investment capital more efficiently. We offer the Impactly platform, Mandate Services, and Capital Markets as a la carte services to funders to address complexities that otherwise drive expenses, prolong timelines, and reduce the likelihood of intended outcomes.
