Jordan St. Cyr Jordan St. Cyr joins the Altrua HealthShare family as both a Member and an Ambassador for our Christian health share.
AUSTIN, Texas, August 10, 2023 (Newswire.com)
-
Altrua HealthShare has welcomed Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter Jordan St. Cyr to the Altrua HealthShare family as both a Member and an Ambassador for the Christian health share.
"When I first met Jordan, I knew he was the kind of person who makes serving and sharing with others a priority," says John Capezzuti, COO of Altrua HealthShare. "And the more I learned about Jordan's life, his commitment to his family, and his relationship with God, it seemed a great fit to welcome him as a Member of Altrua HealthShare and for him to share his experience about the care his family receives and how they share that care with others through our health share ministry."
Jordan St. Cyr was raised in the small Canadian town of Niverville, Manitoba, where contemporary Christian music, much less the music heritage of Nashville, seemed far, far away. During his teen years, while working with the ministry YWAM, Jordan began to compose music and lead worship. He served as a youth pastor for several years and continued to make music, both under his own name and as a songwriter in the Christian music space. His first full-length album was released in 2022, including "Fires" and "Weary Traveler," which both landed at the top of the Christian charts. He and his family relocated that year to Tennessee.
As a father of four and a husband, Jordan's experiences of his family life, the joys and the challenges, make their way into his music. As he says, "My prayer is that my songs would bring comfort and joy to those who hear them. I pray that listeners would be more hopeful and open to the depths of God's love for them, knowing that their circumstances are not a reflection of how God feels about them. Rather, their circumstances would reveal the closeness and nearness of the Holy Spirit."
Jordan's alignment with the guiding principles of Altrua HealthShare made him an obvious fit for the health share. "We love working with people who make caring for others, hearing their stories, and coming alongside them, part of their approach to living a life of faith. Jordan and his family do exactly that," says Capezzuti.
Jordan's time as an Ambassador for Altrua HealthShare will include sharing his experience as part of the Membership. He says, "It does my heart good knowing that my family and I have the coverage and support we need through Altrua HealthShare. Their Christ-centered approach to healthcare makes all the difference and I'm so grateful to be a part of the family."

Why a comic accurate redesign of The Lizard was tossed in Spider-Man: No Way Home in favor of keeping his look from The Amazing Spider-Man.
The design of The Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man proved to be somewhat unpopular, so when it was revealed that the character would be returning for Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans had hoped that Marvel would give the villain a comic-accurate redesign.
As we know, The Lizard looked pretty much the same in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Marvel Studios’ Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding explained why in Spider-Man: No Way Home – The Art of the Movie (via ComicBookMovie.com). “We’re looking to pull a character from another film and have this audience believe it’s that same character,” Meinerding said. “If we change it too much, if we’re changing bone structure, it doesn’t feel like it’s the character from that other movie, and we’ve lost the magic of The Multiverse.“
However, the design team did put together some concept art depicting a revamped take on the character. “Having said that, all the explorations that [Visual Development Supervisor Ian Joyner] did were incredible,” Meinerding added. “Incorporating more costume and ripped and torn pants or shirts or lab coats, was also part of the fun exploration that I’m glad we did, even if it didn’t end up serving the story.” Those designs were released last year and certainly looked like The Lizard that fans were expecting. While I understand the reasoning behind not changing The Lizard, they did give Jamie Foxx’s Electro a makeover.
Spider-Man won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, so perhaps one day… the torn lab coat and purple pants of The Lizard will make a triumphant return. The design of the character has shifted many times since his introduction in 1963, with the first appearance of The Lizard actually looking more like his design in The Amazing Spider-Man than the one fans have become used to.
Do you wish Marvel had redesigned The Lizard for Spider-Man: No Way Home?
Blue Beetle is eyeing a $30 million box office opening in the U.S., which is nearly double the previous prediction.
The arrival of the latest DC superhero is nearly upon us, and he may make a bigger impression at the box office than we thought. Previous reports stated that Blue Beetle was tracking toward a $17 million opening at the domestic box office, but a new report has seen that number almost double.
According to Deadline, early tracking for Blue Beetle finds the DC movie eyeing a $30 million opening at the domestic box office. While that may not seem impressive for a superhero movie, especially after The Flash bombed with a $55 million opening, it’s important to remember that Blue Beetle has a significantly lower budget. The report states that the film is tracking very well with Latino and Hispanic audiences, who are eager to see DC’s first Latino superhero on the big screen.
With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes still ongoing, that means that much of the talent behind Blue Beetle aren’t allowed to promote the movie, but Warner Bros. is hoping that positive word-of-mouth will help push it forward.
In addition to Xolo Maridueña as Jaime, Blue Beetle also stars Adriana Barraza (Rambo: Last Blood) as Jaime’s grandmother, Nana, Damían Alcázar (Narcos: Mexico) as his father, Elpidia Carrillo (Mayans M.C.) as his mother, Bruna Marquezine (God Save the King) as Jenny Kord, Raoul Max Trujillo (Sicario) as Carapax, with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking) as Victoria Kord, and George Lopez (Rio) as Jaime’s Uncle Rudy. The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (American Horror Stories) as Jaime’s sister, Milagro, and Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) as Dr. Sanchez. Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) directed Blue Beetle from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala).
The remnants of the previous DC franchise haven’t done all that well at the box office, but Xolo Maridueña has previously said that Blue Beetle could spawn a franchise in the DCU, it just depends on how the movie performs. “If we get one movie or a trilogy and f**king fold this into the Justice League shit, we’re ready for the whole nine,” Maridueña said. “For me and Angel [Manuel Soto, director] and the team, we kicked ass with this movie. It just depends on numbers.“
Blue Beetle will hit theaters on August 18th. If you had to make a bet, how well do you think Blue Beetle will perform at the box office?
VFX artists at Marvel Studios vote to unionize and seek to be represented by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
VFX artists at Marvel Studios announced today that they have voted to unionize and say that they want to be represented by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
Over the years, we’ve heard horror stories from Marvel VFX artists about the poor working conditions, where much of the crew are overworked and underpaid, so this move to unionize should come as no surprise. “We are witnessing an unprecedented wave of solidarity that’s breaking down old barriers in the industry and proving we’re all in this fight together,” IATSE President Matthew Loeb said. “That doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Entertainment workers everywhere are sticking up for each other’s rights, that’s what our movement is all about. I congratulate these workers on taking this important step and using their collective voice.“
This unionization effort marks the first time that VFX professionals have joined together “to demand the same rights and protections as their unionized colleagues in the film industry.” While positions such as “production designers/art directors, camera operators, sound, editors, hair and makeup artists, costumes/wardrobe, script supervisors, grips, lighting, props and paint, among other have historically been represented by IATSE, workers in VFX classifications historically have not.“
“For almost half a century, workers in the visual effects industry have been denied the same protections and benefits their coworkers and crewmates have relied upon since the beginning of the Hollywood film industry,” said Mark Patch, VFX organizer for IATSE, in a statement. “This is a historic first step for VFX workers coming together with a collective voice demanding respect for the work we do.“
VFX coordinator Bella Huffman added, “Turnaround times don’t apply to us, protected hours don’t apply to us, and pay equity doesn’t apply to us. Visual effects must become a sustainable and safe department for everyone who’s suffered far too long and for all newcomers who need to know they won’t be exploited.” Over the years, the amount of VFX shots in movies have greatly increased, from a few dozen, to hundreds, and even thousands, with some movies including some manner of VFX work in every single shot.
It’s no coincidence that this move to unionize takes place during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. “We are witnessing an unprecedented wave of solidarity that’s breaking down old barriers in the industry and proving we’re all in this fight together. That doesn’t happen in a vacuum,” Matthew Loeb said. “Entertainment workers everywhere are sticking up for each other’s rights, that’s what our movement is all about. I congratulate these workers on taking this important step and using their collective voice.” The workers are asking for the election to be held as early as August 21st.
