Kat Conner Sterling has joined Matthew Lillard, Josh Hutcherson, and Mary Stuart Masterson in the video game movie Five Nights at Freddy’s
After spending a long time in development hell, a film adaptation of the Five Nights at Freddy’s video game franchise finally went into production at the start of February. Now Deadline reports that Kat Conner Sterling – whose credits include roles in Marvel’s The Gifted, Fox’s 9-1-1 and The Resident, and Netflix’s A Week Away – has been cast in the film alongside previously announced cast members Matthew Lillard (Scream), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Game), and Mary Stuart Masterson (Benny & Joon).
The Five Nights at Freddy’s video game takes place in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a darker version of Chuck-E-Cheese, where an animatronic animal band performs kiddy songs by day, and goes on murderous rampages by night. The goal of the game is survive a night locked inside, knowing that a furry death machine might jump out of the dark at any moment.
This adaptation was originally set up at Warner Bros., where Gil Kenan (Monster House) was going to direct the film from a screenplay he was writing with Tyler Burton Smith (the Child’s Play remake). Then the project moved over to Blumhouse, where Chris Columbus (Home Alone) was attached to direct it for several years. But now it has gone into production with Emma Tammi – director of The Wind, Into the Dark: Delivered, and Into the Dark: Blood Moon – at the helm, working from a screenplay she wrote with Seth Cuddeback (Mateo) and video game creator Scott Cawthon.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is being produced by Blumhouse, in association with Striker Entertainment. Cawthon is a producer alongside Blumhouse founder Jason Blum. Russell Binder is executive producing. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is handling the special effects that will bring the homicidal animatronic animals to life on the screen.
Are you familiar with Kat Conner Sterling’s work, and are you glad to hear that she has joined the cast of Five Nights at Freddy’s? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below. I’m not familiar with Sterling’s work or with the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this movie is going to turn out.

PrivateAuto, the first P2P transactional vehicle marketplace, introduces PrivateAuto Pay — the only way to eSign the bill of sale and securely transfer amounts over $10,000 in the parking lot. PrivateAuto is the first mobile app to bring safety, security, and instant transactions to the private sale.

Avoid Scams
PrivateAuto uses driver's license verification and facial recognition technology to verify the identity of both buyers and sellers. To avoid sharing personal information, the platform also includes secure messaging within the app so the buyer and seller can communicate. In a market plagued with scammers, this brings safety and security to the private sale.
Easy Bill of Sale

Oncolyze has launched a Regulation A+ ("Reg A") funding campaign to spread awareness of OM-301 among cancer patients, healthcare professionals, and the investment community. Reg A is a type of offering that allows anyone to invest in Oncolyze and receive shares in the company. The investment opportunity is being hosted by StartEngine and investments may be made in Oncolyze directly by visiting the StartEngine website. Potential investors can also learn more about the investment opportunity at the Oncolyze website.
Cancer is the second-leading cause of death globally, killing 10 million cancer patients yearly worldwide. The estimated total annual economic impact of cancer is more than $1 trillion globally. There are many types of cancer, but one of the deadliest is acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Patients with this blood cancer have only a 1 in 4 chance of living for five years after diagnosis.
Current treatments include chemotherapies, targeted therapies, and bone marrow transplants. All these options carry significant side effects and are physically taxing to the patient, as well as being mostly ineffective given the high recurrence rate. As a result, there remains a huge unmet medical need for more efficacious treatments. Oncolyze sees this tremendous challenge as a significant opportunity to make a positive impact on patients' lives, with the potential to both increase their chance of survival and improve their quality of life.
Oncolyze has designed a novel anti-cancer drug (OM-301) that targets a particular cell surface protein. This protein, HDM2, is well known to exist at high levels inside cancer cells and is thought to be an important driver of cancer growth and metastasis. More recently, though, it was discovered that HDM2 is found as well on the cell surface of many types of cancer cells, but not normal cells. OM-301 has two components. The first, a targeting segment, finds the HDM2 residing on the external surface of the cancer cell. Once OM-301 finds HDM2 and anchors, the second segment pokes holes in the surface and kills the cancer cell almost instantly by cell lysis and necrosis.
"Our mission is to bring a new drug to market which gives renewed hope to patients that there can be a cure for their terrible disease, or at the very least an improvement in their survival without a myriad of side effects. We are passionate in our quest to add a new type of anticancer therapy with a novel mechanism of action to the armamentarium in the war against cancer," said Dr. Steven Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Oncolyze.
"Because OM-301 acts on the outside of a cancer cell, we think that its efficacy may be independent of cancer genetics. What that means is that it could potentially work in cancer patients regardless of mutation type. This is important because AML can be caused by a variety of mutations in multiple proteins in leukemic blood cells. Some recently approved drugs only work for a subset of patients with a specific mutation, whereas we believe that OM-301 could help most if not all AML patients, especially those with hard-to-treat mutations."
The FDA has granted Oncolyze's OM-301 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of AML. The FDA's Office of Orphan Drug Products grants orphan status to drugs and biologics that demonstrate promise for the treatment of diseases or conditions affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the United States. This designation provides Oncolyze with certain development incentives, including tax credits for qualified clinical testing, exemptions from certain FDA application fees, and potential market exclusivity, if approved.
Dr. Alex Stojanovic, COO of Oncolyze, added that "AML is our immediate focus. We have a growing body of evidence supporting the potential use of OM-301 in other types of cancers, including multiple myeloma (another blood cancer) and solid tumors such as colon, ovarian, pancreatic and sarcoma cancer. We know that our target exists on the cell surface of over 25 types of cancer. If approved by the FDA, as far as we are aware of, OM-301 would be the only therapeutic that treats cancer by targeting this cell-surface HDM2 protein."
The management team at Oncolyze brings over 200 years of experience across healthcare. Dr. Evans holds a MD from the New York University School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease and Electrophysiology at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. He is an experienced entrepreneur with a 25-year career in the life sciences. Dr. Stojanovic holds a PhD from Dartmouth College, and he was a NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University. He brings 18 years of global consulting and operational experience in the life sciences. In addition to a well-rounded management team, the company's collaborators and advisors include globally renowned medical experts such as the former Chief of Leukemia at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Chief of Molecular Hematology at MD Anderson, and the Chief of Leukemia at City of Hope Medical Center.
The current financing campaign is expected to provide Oncolyze with the necessary funds to advance OM-301 through the final preclinical testing phase and into a Phase 1/2a clinical trial in AML patients. The company plans to start that clinical trial approximately one year after financing. Oncolyze began accepting investments on March 22, 2023 after receiving qualification by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
ABOUT ONCOLYZE
Oncolyze is developing a disruptive technology for the treatment of cancer. The drug's novel approach uses a simple mechanism of action to selectively kill cancer cells and cancer stem cells while sparing normal cells. This provides a highly effective treatment with potentially little to no side effects. The lead drug candidate, OM-301, targets the cancer cell membrane and causes lysis/necrosis; many antibiotics, such as penicillin, kill bacteria in a similar way. The initial therapeutic target is acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Most AML patients relapse within one year of treatment, as standard therapy does not destroy cancer stem cells. As a result, AML has only a 25% five-year survival rate. In contrast, OM-301 has been shown to destroy leukemic cancer stem cells, and therefore has the potential to disrupt current medical treatment. Following proof of concept in AML patients, the company expects to pursue development for patients with other hematologic and solid cancers.

The Hills Have Eyes star and genre regular Michael Berryman has written a memoir called It’s All Good!, and it’s now available
Cinema fans have been familiar with Michael Berryman for decades. He made his first screen appearance in the 1975 film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze, following that up with a role in the Best Picture winner One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Next up was his most iconic role, that of the desert-dwelling cannibal Pluto in Wes Craven’s 1977 film The Hills Have Eyes, a role he reprised in the messy 1984 sequel The Hills Have Eyes Part II. He has gone on to rack up over one hundred more credits, including roles in films like Deadly Blessing, Invitation to Hell, Cut and Run, Weird Science, My Science Project, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, The Guyver, Beastmaster 2, Wizards of the Demon Sword, Teenage Exorcist, The Devil’s Rejects, Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield, The Haunted Casino, The Lords of Salem, and Death House. He has had a fascinating life and career – and now fans will have the chance to read all about it in the pages of his memoir It’s All Good! (pick up a copy HERE).
It’s All Good! has the following description: Michael Berryman was born into a family unlike most, with a neurosurgeon father and a nurse mother. Growing up, he had to deal with physical ailments that were rare, making it hard to fit in with his peers. They brought him up with a strong Catholic faith, and instilled in him the importance of remaining positive and optimistic in the face of adversity. Still, Michael felt a sense of loneliness and isolation in his life. He was unable to make friends and felt like an outcast whenever he was around his peers. But little did he know, his unusual physical features would one day become his ticket to fame. Something amazing happened. By chance encounter, Michael was noticed by legendary director George Pal who needed someone to play a role in the movie Doc Savage. With his physical condition, Michael was the perfect pick, thus beginning his journey to stardom.
Michael soon found himself working alongside some of the biggest names in the horror industry and his performances spoke for themselves. He quickly became one of the most iconic horror actors of his generation, cementing his place in cinematic history. But ultimately, Michael hadn’t forgotten the people and the journey that made him the man he is. Michael’s story is one of perseverance, resilience and embracing one’s physical differences. It serves as a reminder that anything is possible with a positive attitude, and that it can take just one moment for our lives to be changed forever. Michael’s memoirs talk about his life from birth to fame; from his struggles with his physical ailments to his relationship with his parents, the construction of his moral ethos through failure, rebirth and ultimate success. Michael’s struggles and success offer an inspiring story of grit and determination. Of how someone with a unique physical condition could rise to the very top, proving that anything is possible with firm belief and hard work.
Berryman said, “Decades in the making, this self-published memoir is the book I always wanted to let into the world, in my own words.“
I’ve been a fan of Michael Berryman since I was a kid, and when I’ve crossed paths with him at conventions I’ve found him to be one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. So I’m very interested in reading his memoir. Will you be picking up a copy of It’s All Good? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
Zachary Levi thinks marketing is the biggest issue facing Shazam: Fury of the Gods, saying it should be marketed to families.
Although Shazam: Fury of the Gods has its fans, it’s hard to deny that the sequel has already become a box-office disappointment just days after its release. Earning just $30 million in its domestic debut, the movie has a ways to go before it even gets to the point where it can break even. Shazam star Zachary Levi took to Twitter to say that the biggest issue they’re having is marketing.
“I think the biggest issue we’re having is marketing,” Zachary Levi wrote. “This is a perfect family movie, and yet a lot of families aren’t aware of that. Which is just a shame.” The actor also acknowledged a fan who said that the failure of Shazam: Fury of the Gods will make Snyderverse fans happy. “There is no denying that at the moment there are many Snyder fans who are happy for the failure of your film and many of them wish that everything that is to come fails just for not continuing with the films of their director,” the fan wrote. “This is also true,” Levi responded. “Sad, but true. How much that actually affects the box office is anyone’s guess.“
Shazam: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg also recently commented on the mixed reviews that the sequel has received. “On Rotten Tomatoes I just got my lowest critic score and my highest audience score on the same film,” Sandberg wrote. “I wasn’t expecting a repeat of the first movie critically but I was still a little surprised because I think it’s a good film. Oh well.” The movie is currently sitting at 52% on Rotten Tomatoes, but its audience score is much higher at 88%. Sandberg continued, “As I’ve been saying for a while now I’m very eager to go back to horror (as well as trying some new things). After six years of Shazam I’m definitely done with superheroes for now.“
“Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos,” reads the official synopsis. “But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.”
Shazam: Fury of the Gods is now playing in theaters. You can check out a review from our own JimmyO right here, and be sure to let us know what you thought of the film as well. Do you think Zachary Levi is right in saying that marketing is the biggest issue facing the Shazam sequel?
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman says that season 3 of the series has already begun filming.
Although Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard are coming to a close, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is boldly moving forward with another season. Strange New Worlds co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman spoke at a recent MIT event, where he revealed that filming has already begun on season 3 of the series.
“Today or tomorrow we’re announcing the airdate of the second season, which we filmed like 17 years ago… and you’ll be really surprised because we just went all over the place,” Akiva Goldsman said. “And we’ve just starting filming the third season now.” Paramount hasn’t officially confirmed that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be back for season 3, so Goldsman’s comment is the first indication that we’ve got more of the series to look forward to. The second season of Strange New Worlds started shooting months before the first season’s premiere, so it’s not a huge surprise that the third season is following a similar schedule.
Akiva Goldsman implied that Paramount would be announcing the release date of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 soon, but as the MIT event took place close to a week ago, that announcement clearly isn’t coming as soon as he thought. With First Contact Day (April 5th) just around the corner, I imagine that the second season release date and the official confirmation of Strange New Worlds season 3 will be announced.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount as Christoper Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga. The series has quickly become one of my favourite modern-day Star Trek shows (although Picard season 3 has been fantastic), so I’m thrilled that we’ve got at least two more seasons to look forward to.
The first season of Strange New Worlds was released on Blu-ray today. That will be followed by a 4K Ultra HD release on May 16th, which will mark the first 4K release of any Star Trek TV series.
Todd Field says Tár will likely be his last film, but doesn’t rule out returning to make another film somewhere down the road.
Todd Field may be calling it quits after just three feature films. He made his feature directorial debut with In the Bedroom in 2001 and followed it up five years later with Little Children, but fans had to wait over fifteen years before he returned to the director’s chair with Tár. While speaking with Cinema Scope, Todd Field said that it’s “highly likely” that Tár will be his last film.
While some directors are able to pump out film after film for years, Todd Field doesn’t think he’s that type of director. “There’s a real challenge in making a film of any size,” Field said. “It’s not for the faint of heart. I wish I was cut out for different stuff, because I probably wouldn’t make more films. It takes a great deal out of me to make a film; I don’t know that I’ll ever make another one.” When asked to clarify if this meant that Tár would be last film, Field said, “Yes, I think so. I didn’t think about it until now. It’s highly likely.” Field admitted that he might be open to making another film somewhere down the road. “I suppose that’s possible,” he said. “I hope that’s possible.“
Todd Field does plan to continue writing, but the actual process of crafting a movie is too much. “If it were nice and easy, I would film all the time,” Field said. “I make commercials all the time, but that doesn’t take much out of me. I like the play, the techniques, experimenting with new equipment that comes out before it ever reaches the feature world, because I’m a technical geek at heart too. But those aren’t my things; those technical tools belong to multinational corporations. But if something is really yours, and really matters—and it had better matter, for the length of time it takes to make a film—you have to give it everything. And as you get older, you realize how valuable time is, there’s only so much time in that hourglass. I’m not in my twenties or thirties anymore—I’ll be 60 in year and a half. You start thinking about these things.“
We may have to wait to see if Tár does wind up being Todd Field’s last film, but I could certainly think of worse movies to go out on. The film received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress.
