Leona Valley Recovery Center Opens Up Further Nature Options for Spring

Leona Valley Recovery Center Opens Up Further Nature Options for Spring

Leona Valley Recovery, a luxury drug rehab and detox center in California, has recently begun incorporating more outdoor activities into patients' treatment plans with the arrival of spring. Studies have shown that being outdoors can have positive effects for many struggling with addiction.

During this time, patients at Leona Valley Recovery Center have gone on nature hikes, swimming in the center's pool, jogging/running through the nearby forests, exercising in the open air, and on other outdoor activities that were not a part of many patients' treatment plans in the winter months.

A study from "Frontiers in Psychology" found that "taking at least 20 minutes out of your day to stroll or sit in a place that makes you feel in contact with nature will significantly lower your stress hormone levels."

Other studies, such as this from the National Library of Medicine, found that "there is a cognitive advantage to be realized if (human beings) spend time in a natural setting."

"One of the areas of treatment that is most highlighted is the vicarious conditioning elements. Through the many years of being in this field, I have collected experiential data on what specific approaches and modalities lead to even a start in recovery. Planned therapeutic consistency plays a role, but due to high levels of cravings, impulsivity, and what I call the closest to a 'possession' (scientifically) remains. Not to mention the discussion on insurance-driven components that do not allow for a proper time for therapy to be collectively effective. Substance abuse counseling holds a similar trait, but at times can be more effective due to the intensity of the work in which the patients can withstand at an inpatient level of care. Being outdoors, being in nature is an important part of essentially every treatment plan," said Hai Nguyen, Chief Operations Officer of Leona Valley Recovery Center.

Every addiction treatment program at Leona Valley Recovery Center is specifically tailored to each patient. As there are only six rooms in the center, each patient is attended to by multiple trained professionals.

Health-ISAC Releases Annual Report on Current and Emerging Cyber Threats to Healthcare

Health-ISAC Releases Annual Report on Current and Emerging Cyber Threats to Healthcare
Actionable intelligence enhances situational awareness for global healthcare security professionals.

Health-ISAC, a nonprofit, member-driven organization, has published its annual cyber threat report on current and emerging threat activity in collaboration with Booz Allen Hamilton Cyber Threat Intelligence.

The annual threat report enables healthcare security professionals worldwide to ensure operational resilience by enhancing situational awareness and strengthening their ability to detect, mitigate and respond to cyber threats.

Health-ISAC's Current and Emerging Healthcare Cyber Threat Landscape report reviews and analyzes the cybercriminal, geopolitical and nation state threats healthcare organizations currently face, as well as threats on the horizon, such as product abuse and synthetic accounts. As noted in the report, an increase in connected medical devices also increases the attack surface of healthcare institutions. While newer medical device designs have improved cybersecurity controls, organizations must prepare for and defend across a broad spectrum of technology while also dealing with software end-of-life issues in legacy medical devices and the many cyber threats detailed in the report.

"Healthcare professionals can use the Health-ISAC annual threat report to not only stay ahead of the day-to-day threats facing the health sector but they can use the information strategically to communicate long-term challenges the sector is facing and help justify additional investments in cyber security spending and where more resources are needed - all in the name of improving patient safety and security," said Denise Anderson, Health-ISAC President & CEO.

The report was published for Health-ISAC members only in February. A public, executive summary was released as part of this press announcement.

"While cyber adversaries continue to get more creative as shown in Health-ISAC's annual threat report, simple attacks, like social engineering, are unfortunately still very effective. Information security practitioners who believed Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) was the silver bullet are now reeling from major breaches that leveraged social engineering and technical measures to defeat it," said Errol Weiss, Chief Security Officer at Health-ISAC. "All of this spells the need for continuous awareness - we need to stay on top of new threats and attack techniques, and most importantly, active information sharing that provides for community defense that will ultimately help improve the resilience of our healthcare sector networks."

ABOUT HEALTH-ISAC

Health-ISAC — a nonprofit, private sector, member-driven organization — plays an essential role in providing situational awareness around cyber and physical security threats to the Healthcare Sector so that companies can detect, mitigate, and respond to ensure operational resilience. Health-ISAC connects thousands of healthcare security professionals worldwide to share peer insights, real-time alerts, and best practices in a trusted, collaborative environment. As the go-to source for timely, actionable, and relevant information, Health-ISAC is a force-multiplier that enables healthcare organizations of all sizes to enhance situation awareness, develop effective mitigation strategies and proactively defend against threats every single day.

Frownies, Industry Leader in Beauty and Skincare, Shares the Secret to Centuries of Success in Celebration of Women’s History Month

Frownies, Industry Leader in Beauty and Skincare, Shares the Secret to Centuries of Success in Celebration of Women’s History Month
Frownies, best known for the wrinkle-smoothing Frownies Facial Patches, attributes recent viral growth to 130-year history of personalized customer service.

Frownies Celebrates Women's History Month

Four women wearing paper wrinkle patches on their foreheads holding pink boxes of Frownies Facial Patches.

Frownies, the home of the iconic wrinkle-smoothing facial patches, is celebrating Women's History Month by sharing their secret to success - personalized customer service that has been passed down over five generations of women.

Margaret Krosen invented Frownies in 1889 for her daughter Alice, a concert pianist and a model. After many hours of sitting at the piano furrowing her brow in concentration, Alice had started to develop eleven lines between her brows. The concept of Frownies Facial Patches was born - weighted paper patches with a water-activated adhesive that create a cast to hold the facial muscles still, allowing the overlying skin to lay flat. Women from Broadway to Hollywood used Frownies to soften and smooth wrinkles and fine lines. Now, Frownies is the number one non-invasive alternative to Botox®

In 2020, Helen Morrison, the great-great-granddaughter of Frownies' inventor Margaret Krosen, joined the Frownies' team full-time as Director of Brand Strategy. As the face of Frownies across social media platforms, Morrison has quickly taken Frownies Facial Patches viral. With 225 Million views on TikTok and over 13,000 five-star reviews on Amazon, Morrison has led the brand to exponential growth through her transparency and accessibility across social media platforms.

"Frownies Facial Patches have always been marketed by word-of-mouth," Helen says. "Now we are using the modern-day 'word-of-mouth' - social media - to continue our grass-roots marketing." Morrison goes on to share that Frownies' secret to standing out beyond the viral TikTok videos and Instagram reels is the individual interactions with their customers.

"My great-great-grandmother would hand-write responses to letters from women ordering Frownies Facial Patches from all over the world," Helen notes. "Now, if a customer sends a message on Instagram, I personally respond, often with a voice message. I am always happy to give application tips if a customer sends me a picture of their problem areas or the placement of their facial patches."

Before many women were in the workforce, even before women had the right to vote, Frownies has been owned and operated by strong, independent women. Today, Frownies strives to maintain the personalized customer service that the Frownies' customers have appreciated since 1889.

ABOUT FROWNIES

Frownies, home of the Original Wrinkle Patch, is proud to be a fifth-generation, female-founded small business for over 130 years. Frownies, once called "Hollywood's Best Kept Secret," has gone viral as the #1 natural alternative to Botox® with over 255 Million views on TikTok.

TOMMISMART Launches Revolutionary Video Creation Tool for Pet Owners and Content Creators
The world's first HD AI camera for cute pet short videos. Perfect for creating viral online pet videos. Filming + editing + sharing = a Pickfun camera

TOMMISMART TECHNOLOGY LTD. has recently launched the world's first high-definition, self-made camera for cute pet short videos. This intelligent product, Pickfun, is a camera designed to create internet-famous, cute pets. Having a Pickfun camera means pet owners get an exclusive photographer and a professional editor for free, allowing the pet owners to capture every cute and interesting moment of the owner's pet and turn them into the next internet sensation. Learn more: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pickfun/pickfun-ai-pet-camera-short-video-maker?ref=d72ker

TOMMISMART believes that pets are important family members for their owners and they don't want to miss the lovely moments with their pets. However, filming short videos of pets is not an easy task. The appearance of Pickfun solves this problem. It is a high-definition, self-made camera that captures every unique moment of your pet. Pickfun can automatically edit the filmed footage into short videos and add dynamic subtitles, music, special effects, etc., allowing the customer to easily create professional pet short videos.

One of the unique features of Pickfun is it integrates AI video creation into a pet camera. With dual lens and AI, the camera can recognize the pet and track the movement of the pet automatically; pet owners can easily capture all of their pet's best moments from two different angles and never miss a moment. Plus, the real-time monitoring and two-way talk features allow pet owners to stay connected with their pets no matter where they are.

But Pickfun is more than just a pet camera. With automatic filming and short video creation features, content creators can easily create engaging and funny videos to share with their followers. And the "pet square" in the Pickfun App (released on both Google Play and Apple App Store) connects pet owners where they can share videos created by Pickfun and get inspired by other pet owners' creations.

Pickfun was developed by TOMMISMART TECHNOLOGY  LTD., which has many years of experience in the field of computer vision. The company's core team has been studying facial recognition technology for many years and has rich experience in research and development of computer vision algorithms, product development, and customer service.

"The birth of Pickfun stems from our love for pets and our persistence in innovation," said the CEO of Pickfun, Luo Bin. "We hope to help pet owners better record and share their pet's life, making pets become cute and popular stars on social media. We believe that Pickfun will become the favorite of pet owners worldwide."

Currently, Pickfun is available for early-bird sales, and the Pickfun team is expecting customers' feedback. Learn more: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pickfun/pickfun-ai-pet-camera-short-video-maker?ref=d72ker

Campworks, the World’s First Fully Electric RV, Withdraws From RV Market, Enters Save the World Industry Instead

Campworks, the World’s First Fully Electric RV, Withdraws From RV Market, Enters Save the World Industry Instead
Integrating Game Theory, Material Sciences and Exceptional Design, Campworks leads the model of sustainable living

Campworks NS-1

Smallest Model of Highest Efficiency of Living

Campworks, designer of the World's First Fully Electric RV, the NS-1, withdraws from RV Market, electing to pioneer the Save The World Industry instead. Kristian Rene, Campworks Director of Community and Communication, states, "It has come to our attention that there are two impressive new players in the RV market, determined to electrify the industry. They come to the table with bigger battery banks, and a determination to dominate this market on an outdated premise that bigger is better."

Campworks began production of the world's first fully electric RV / teardrop trailer in early 2020. They have since redesigned their "Nomadic System," to be the first personal, mobile infrastructure with power capable of recharging an electric vehicle, anywhere in the world. The NS-1 operates at peak efficiency, requiring less battery power to accomplish tasks like heating and cooling, expanding the utility of the whole system far beyond a weekend away. "We are always maximizing efficiency, which is different than just switching from fossil fuels to electric under the illusion of less emissions. We are decreasing consumption without sacrificing output, productivity or access," Rene outlines, "and these design elements yield carbon-offsets and a tool for future building."

"We wanted to design a better system of living," Rene states. The Campworks NS-1 has an electrical system designed in partnership with the Navico Group, a division of Brunswick Corporation, utilizing the Fathom® e-power system, a complete lithium-ion power management system. "We needed an electrical system that operates the way a user expects from the grid. What we've learned is that people hate to be inconvenienced, the best products are ones that make life easier and more comfortable. We needed a partner who understood the ability to expand power access requires regeneration, thus literally and figuratively empowering the individual user; an individual who now owns and manages their own infrastructure."

The Campworks team share expertise in environmental science and design, field medicine and scientific research, agriculture and global supply chain, off road / track racing, and automotive mechanics and tuning. Their interdisciplinary backgrounds brought them to the conclusion that if they want to save the world, they must integrate the best technologies available into a singular system. According to Rene, "We chose the camper platform because it's the smallest habitable space and most people understand it's meant to be recreational; we believe the future has to be fun and the work has to be worth doing if we want to see progress. We then modeled new energy storage and generation around one person world-building. We integrated heating and cooling, air purification, and water filtration and we optimized, then packaged, these processes into an autonomous, thermodynamically outstanding container. This is biophilic design at its best and it offers an experience that connects with, and helps to rebuild, nature."

Campworks has bundled the essentials and programmed them to operate exactly as the user expects. This model provides the essentials of living and integrates methods to manage water, electricity and air, using less resources in an inspiring and effective methodology. "When using the NS-1, your energy and water use become a game. We've become so accustomed to resources being limitless that we've never learned to moderate our use," Rene explains. "The NS-1 interior UI/UX design cultivates behavior that, at this point, purely for fun and recreation, mimics MindCraft-style-living to create new patterns of resource use, which ultimately, transfer into home life, potentially reducing consumption and waste generation unilaterally."

"Our next steps include scaling this model into larger applications including forest service, farming and ranching, and environmental studies," Rene outlines. "If we can work on climate change mitigation in a recreational format, we stand a chance of creating a new culture that's highly proactive and actually moving towards net-zero. We're not dreaming of the great American road trip. That's an old story that ends after a week. We're traveling the long-haul."

theSkimm’s State of Women Report 2023: Facing Persistent Gender Inequities, Women Are Mobilizing to Rewrite Rules and Create Their Own Momentum

0
theSkimm’s State of Women Report 2023: Facing Persistent Gender Inequities, Women Are Mobilizing to Rewrite Rules and Create Their Own Momentum
New research conducted by The Harris Poll shows women see the need to create their own solutions for financial and emotional well-being.

Women believe society expects too much from them while not respecting them enough — but are taking steps to change that. That is the central finding of research conducted by The Harris Poll Thought Leadership and Futures Practice on behalf of theSkimm's new State of Women Report 2023

Released during Women's History Month, the report investigates and surfaces how women see the work they do, both in their careers and in the home, and how society perceives that work. The report addresses how brands need to do a better job of understanding the context of women's lives, and demonstrates that while gaps persist, women are gaining influence and mobilizing to create their own futures.

The research, which is based on two studies and comprised 4,500 women, has been featured on the Today Show and reveals the harsh realities that women continue to face.

  •  74% say that "society treats women like second-class citizens" and the "deck is stacked against women."
  • 79% say "I am concerned with the social expectations around unpaid labor/mental load that women are responsible for."
  • 65% say "new legislation and policies that are being passed do not advance women's rights."

"Recognizing the burden on women and equity gaps is not enough; it's time to take fundamental action steps to forge a more prosperous future together," Libby Rodney, chief strategy officer at The Harris Poll Thought Leadership and Futures Practice, said. "The data tells us that women see a system working against their best interests, from health care to policy changes to support structures.

"However, women are not going quietly into the night." According to the report, women across the U.S. are mobilizing, rewriting rules, and creating momentum around social change to flip inequities and build a better future together.

Here are some of the highlights of how women are making or planning to make changes:

  • 89% are planning to redesign their lives the way they want to.
  • 87% have or want to create more sources of financial stability, with 60% adding a side hustle, shifting to a higher-earning career or advocating for a promotion.
  • 65% (or 74% among Black women) have gotten involved, or plan to, in national politics.
  • 76% are more active, or want to get more involved, in their local community at schools, local politics, and small businesses.

"Instead of resignation, they are exhibiting agency and a willingness to make tough choices to secure their own futures," Abbey Lunney, managing director at The Harris Poll Thought Leadership and Futures Practice, said. "This year alone, women have reached new highs around representation within Congress, the C-Suite, on boards, and as entrepreneurs. In the next seven years, women are projected to control up to $30 trillion in financial assets. And there is still a lot of work to do."

How can executives, policymakers, and employers offer women meaningful support and opportunity? By being more candid and offering practical and functional support, doubling down on long-term commitments, and putting the spotlight on women's issues and women-owned businesses.

"Women are fighting back to build a new and better future," Rodney said. "Most women (83% in the report) want to lead the way by writing the next chapter of what it is like to be a woman in America."

"The study shows that we all need to be a part of redesigning the future together," Lunney said. "Now is the time to listen to women and fight with them to get the changes that need to be made."

Rush Hour 4: Chris Tucker is “definitely” in for the long-belated sequel

Rush Hour 4: Chris Tucker is “definitely” in for the long-belated sequel

Chris Tucker says that he’s “definitely” down to join Jackie Chan on the long-belated Rush Hour 4.

It’s been over fifteen years since Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker had their last Rush Hour misadventure, but there’s been talk of a sequel all that time. Jackie Chan confirmed last year that he was in talks for Rush Hour 4, and now Chris Tucker has added that he’s “definitely” ready to return as well.

Chris Tucker spoke to Audacy’s V-103 (via Variety) to tease a few of his upcoming projects, including Rush Hour 4. “You’re going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it’s going to be on a whole other level,” Tucker said. “That’s what I like… I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen… ‘Rush Hour 4,’ that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie, but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it.

The first Rush Hour movie starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter, two mismatched police officers assigned to rescue a Chinese diplomat’s abducted daughter. The film was a big success, spawning two sequels, Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3. As I mentioned, there’s been talk of Rush Hour 4 for years, and this isn’t even the first time that Chris Tucker has promised it’s coming. “It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes,” Tucker said in 2018. “Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.

Chris Tucker hasn’t been all that active on the big screen over the last decade, but he’s set to star alongside Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in Air. Directed by Ben Affleck, the sports drama tells the unbelievable game-changing partnership between a then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division, which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand. The film premiered at SXSW last week and will hit theaters on April 5th.

Would you like to see Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan reunite for Rush Hour 4, or has the time passed?
