Spectral MD Announces Positive Interim Results From DFU Clinical Study & Burn Clinical Study Update
DeepView® accuracy increases to 86% in diagnosis of DFU healing potential on day one

DALLAS - January 18, 2023 - (Newswire.com)

Spectral MD Holdings, Ltd. (AIM: SMD), a predictive analytics company with proprietary AI algorithms and optical technology for faster and more accurate treatment decisions in wound care, announces the interim results for its Diabetic Foot Ulcer ("DFU") Clinical Study, initiated in June 2022. The DeepView® Wound Imaging System diagnostic accuracy calculated in the interim analysis, being the prediction of a 50% DFU size reduction by week four, has improved five-percentage points to 86% on day one. This increase in diagnostic accuracy will strengthen the Company's planned 2023 FDA submission for its DeepView® DFU indication.

The four-week milestone in DFU reduction in the clinical treatment pathway for a DFU patient is meaningful to determine if alternative treatment is needed. The interim analysis was performed with an initial 100 U.S. adult subjects out of the targeted 200 subjects enrolled and showed:

  • 86% diagnostic accuracy, from the previously reported 81%
  • 89% sensitivity
  • 83% specificity

Currently, there are no diagnostic tools available in DFU healing prediction. The standard of care for DFU relies on physicians using a wait-and-see approach of up to 30 days to determine if there is a need for advanced intervention.

The DFU study is currently running at five clinical sites in the U.S.  As the Company's regulatory strategy evolves, it is adding additional clinical sites, three contracted, to ensure study completion in 1H 2023. The Company plans to announce additional EU/UK DFU clinical studies in the near future and will provide updates accordingly. The Company remains on track to complete its FDA 2023 regulatory submission.

Niko Pagoulatos, Chief Operating Officer of Spectral MD, said: "We are encouraged by the interim observations from the DFU Clinical Study, and we look forward to completing enrollment to finalize DeepView® DFU indication performance analysis and to submit for regulatory approvals. The results from the interim analysis further validate how the DeepView® technology could significantly help transform the lives of people suffering from Diabetic Foot Ulcers."

Dr. Brock Liden, Podiatry Wound Specialist at Wound and Feet Liden and Principal Investigator in the DFU Clinical Study, commented: "These are extremely encouraging results that show the incredible potential of DeepView® to significantly transform how we treat, manage, and assess Diabetic Foot Ulcers. Diabetic Foot Ulcers are unusually challenging due to the many comorbidities associated with diabetes, which may interrupt the healing process. I look forward to the continued collaboration with Spectral MD as we work to collect meaningful data to further validate this transformative technology."

Burn Indication Update:

The Company has been working on the BARDA funding contract for the Burn indication, and the recent US $ 8.2 million contract expansion with BARDA continues to support interoperability features and commercial readiness for the DeepView® Wound Imaging System. The updates for the current DeepView® Burn AI Training Study are:

  • Since year end 31 Dec. 2022, adult enrollment is complete.
  • The study population covers demographic and geographic variability.
  • The study is currently performed at 11 world-renowned research hospitals, with additional pediatric research sites established.
  • Study is expected to be completed 1H 2023.

Spectral MD is in constant communication with BARDA to further develop its infrastructure readiness for a federal-level commercial contract.

About Spectral MD:

Mental Health Technologies Celebrates Mental Wellness Month
An Interview with Business Development Manager Paige Pontrelli

AURORA, Ill. - January 17, 2023 - (Newswire.com)

At Mental Health Technologies (MHT), they bring awareness to mental health concerns daily. However, each year everyone goes from the hustle and bustle of the holidays to feeling weary. That is why every year in January, the nation focuses on mental wellness.

MHT is a cloud-based platform used by medical practices to assess mental health disorders, including substance abuse. MHT identifies areas in which patients are struggling and directs them to the proper behavioral healthcare through a referral process. In a recent interview, one of MHT's leading sales representatives, Paige Pontrelli, answers MHT's frequently received questions:

  • What makes MHT stand out from its competitors?

MHT has over 45 different assessments, from depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol abuse, pain, sleep, ADHD, and many more. This gives clinics a wide range of assessments, enabling a range of specialties to screen for any disorder.

Paige says, "MHT has so much to offer any type of medical practice. We can integrate into any electronic medical record, making the assessment process seamless. It adds no additional work to the clinic staff. Assessments are sent to the patient via text or email prior to their appointment. Once completed, the assessments are automatically uploaded into the patient's chart for their provider to review for the appointment."

"We have what's called SmarTest—end-to-end testing for all patients for any disorder. The clinic sets the rules of who to test, as well as when and the assessments to use. SmarTest does the rest. These rules can be based on prior scores, age, gender, diagnosis, insurance information, etc."

  • Why should MHT be trusted by medical professionals?

According to Paige, one of MHT's biggest selling points is that MHT is HIPAA compliant and uses Amazon web services for security. It has brought on an expert billing consultant to help clients properly bill for assessments.

"We also offer a 30-day free trial to all of our new customers," Paige says. "During the trial, we work closely with them to make sure MHT is running smoothly within their practice. We work alongside their billing team to ensure proper and seeing accurate reimbursements."

  • How does MHT build and sustain client relationships?

MHT keeps in regular communication with customers through emails, phone calls, Zoom, and face-to-face meetings.

"We also send regular reports based on their preferred cadence. Each one of our clients receives quarterly reports as well as an annual end-of-year report and meeting," says Paige.

  • What assessments are most used by medical practices?

"As a leading salesforce within MHT," Paige says, "the main assessments clinics use are PHQ-9, depression, GAD-7, anxiety, DAST, drug abuse, AUDIT, alcohol.

"MHT has over 45 different assessments and depending on the type of clinic they are, they may use different assessments. For example, a pain clinic will use depression and anxiety along with a pain survey and opioid risk assessment."

dock. Announces Opening of Two Primary Care and Urgent Care Locations in Brooklyn, New York
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - January 17, 2023 - (Newswire.com)

dock., a highly accessible primary care and urgent care provider, announced the opening of its first two locations at 1022 Nostrand Ave. and 850 Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn, New York.

The new locations offer same, next-day and virtual appointments for preventative and family care services in addition to illness and injury care, diagnostic imaging, labs and testing.

This transformative model will significantly increase healthcare access for thousands of underserved residents across Brooklyn.

"Every citizen in Brooklyn deserves equal access to healthcare," said Alex Curran. "For decades, residents have faced limited options for convenient and comprehensive health care services. At dock., we are proud to increase access to primary and urgent care services and contribute to a stronger and healthier city for all."

Ryan Gessin, Managing Director for Newmark, is excited to work on the expansion of a healthcare company that makes care highly accessible in neighborhoods that need it.

"Unlike the stereotypical urgent care, dock. is a tech-enabled company focusing on primary care and preventive care in addition to providing the standard urgent care services," said Gessin. "The shortage of primary care doctors is well documented. With dock., patients now have immediate access to their doctors with all their care under one umbrella. This allows patients to be proactive about their health while eliminating the typical red tape in the healthcare system."

dock.'s urgent care services are available for people with non-life-threatening conditions who need to see a healthcare provider within 24 hours but do not require an emergency department, such as sprains, cuts, high fevers and minor infections. Its primary care services include diagnosis and treatment for minor illnesses, as well as reproductive care, family medicine, vaccinations and injections, preventative care, medication management and more.

"Our model facilitates the full coordination of holistic healthcare," said Curran. "Our primary care doctors have immediate, on-site access to high-end urgent care equipment including X-Ray, EKG, and ultrasound machines. They also have the capability of running point-of-care testing for same-day results. Our urgent care physicians will have direct contact with the primary care physician, and any questions related to this patient can be answered immediately."

A personal care captain will be assigned to each patient to help navigate every step of their individual healthcare journey. An intuitive patient portal and mobile app will provide on-demand scheduling and provider communication.

dock. is open seven days per week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

About dock

dock. is a highly accessible Primary Care Retail Practice, that includes Urgent Care services and benefits, and offers a modern, luxurious, and upscale experience with Primary Care, in addition to a full-scale Multi-Specialty Practice.
